Mixed feelings. I had a terrible teacher in year 8. There were a small group of students who were poorly behaved and he didnt have the Proud Retired Paramedic Who Would Do All Over Again Stars T-Shirt and by the same token and skills to deal with it. He had a very authortarian approach to being the teacher which never goes down well. More and more kids acted out after he would publically yell and shame students. He gave the whole class a poor report at the end of the year (except one student whose mother he befriended). Most of us wern’t poorly behaved nor achieving poorly, many of us had never had a bad report, ever. I literally dont think i learnt anything from school that year because he was consumed in the behaviour of poorly behaved kids. Kids can be total entitled shits and i suspect that this is the case much more nowdays compared to when i was a kid. However, teachers personalities and the way they relate to their students and interact with them can create a bad environment or a good one.

As a ‘PITA’ student I was in this same situation in high school and got the Proud Retired Paramedic Who Would Do All Over Again Stars T-Shirt and by the same token and same lecture at one point when it was needed.. Isn’t it better to hear a life lesson and needed reality from a teacher in school than from your boss writing up your final warning… When I was at school, I loved the teacher that came in and scared the shit out of everyone. I was at an all boys school, class was often disruptive, I was sometimes the disruptive student too. This teacher made us line up in alphabetical order every time we entered the class. He had a stack 1m rulers which he would slam onto the desk when some was talking in class and give them the evils. Punishment was 35 press ups for speaking out of turn or not doing homework. For real big trouble makers he made them hold the crank shaft at the front of the room. If anyone refused the punishments they were removed from class.
