Hey there , I understand the Proud Cousin Of A Class Of 2024 Graduate 8th Grade Stars Apple T-Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this pain you are going through. And I can say that your experience comprise of men from our country who in many cases expect the women with full servitude . The problem stems from upbringing, culture and inability to self reflect. Some possible solutions : It is absolutely fine to be non sanskaari (strictly what sanskaar means to the men here and the families, and them using the word gobar reflects on their insecurities and shallowness rather than you). This kind of thing never happened in my family in fact instead of my sisters I am the more responsible person who cooks, washes clothes and takes care of many household duties. My sister would actually have more freedom than me in some cases. Maybe my answer won’t go well along with some people (pls read my entire response)but here it is. So basically maybe it is not that prevalent what I’m about to say or maybe people know this also happens but everyone has their own life to bother about others. My family at a point was toxic(I said at a point cuz it is not as toxic as it was before, if you keep reading you will know why). Since you talked about the girl rant, in this case the opposite happened(again didn’t say it in a negative way). There were instances in my family of women manhandling men and the men stayed quiet because what will society say. The same happened with me too tho by an elderly lady in my family (it wasn’t to discipline me). Also in my family there were many attempts to misuse the divorce laws to rob(I would say rob because I know the intentions behind the actions) a male in my household. Now if you wonder why am I saying this or if this is my attempt to defend the other gender it is not. From personal experience on how to deal with these people(again you’re welcome to disagree with me but this is what I found) that one of the absolute things in this world is strength. No matter what your gender is but if someone is making you do something/forcing you to do something which you do not want and if you have enough strength that the other party knows you can harm him/her then you will be at peace. You’re welcome to argue that the situation may not be favourable always, agreed. Faced the same but once you reach that level you will be in peace. And maybe being passive aggressive also helps. By strength it doesn’t necessarily mean physical that you can beat up the person, it can also mean financial that you have money, you’re independent and you don’t need to give a f*** about what someone says and all.
