The very funny and popular boy who sat beside me when I started school (1970s) had calipers on his legs. I asked my mother why and she explained that he had polio. He died months later. My mom’s oldest brother suffered with polio for 6 years before he died. I think she suffered from post polio syndrome. She didn’t have the energy to get all the work done alone. Skip ahead- I had covid before vaccines and had long covid for 6 months. I think it was a post viral situation as well. I was unable to do all my daily chores as well. I was unable to do a lot of things- thankfully my husband was working from home. Long story short- vaccines are a miracle…. How does this happen? How does it randomly come back after 30 years? Was it secretly spreading amongst humans or something?

The closest I ever heard him come to complaining about it was when he told me the doctors said he’d need a brace to walk and he refused. That man was stubborn but it worked in his flavour sometimes.
