I have no idea who was hyped for this game. When I first heard about Gollum I said to my buddy “are you kidding me? Who the fuck is going to want to play as Gollum?” We predicted it wouldn’t even sell a million copies, and that it would coast on the LOTR franchise name, but apparently we were delusionally optimistic.I think people were upset because they priced it at AAA prices, $60 standard $70 for a ‘deluxe’ version which included things most games have in for no extra cost. This was 4 years in the making, though. But no one profits off a game like this…do they? There is no way the 27 units they sell at 10 dollars a pop will pay for 4 years of development. Did someone Moneyball it and somehow determine how to profit off this kind of shit? I get the concept of letting an Uwe Boll make a shitty movie because in the end I am going to make a profit. Did someone find that loophole for game development? Is this some kind of tax scheme or something?…

Well for one, it is $60-$70 on consoles, which is how AAA games are usually priced. Secondly I’m not sure “hype” is the Premium lSU Tigers 2023 NCAA Men’s Baseball College World Series Champions Shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this right word, but the mystery and intrigue regarding how the game would play out definitely piqued a lot of peoples interest. Also, you don’t really see those shitty shovelware movie games anymore these days. At least, I can’t recall any off the top of my head. They seemed to kind of die out in the mid-2010s. It’s definitely about the IP. Whenever someone makes a game based on one of the most successful novels ever expectations are going to be high. I thought it could have been. There is a place for a solid stealth or choice-based game that uses Tolkien property in an interesting way. I originally thought Shadows of Mordor was going to be bad but was pleasantly surprised by how it turned out.
