So who pays for it then? Boomers love to ask who will pay for services but lap it up when it’s just them benefitting. I’m so close to having spent ten years working in public service. I’m worried I’m not going to get them forgiven. How is this not age discrimination? Charging different rates depending on age seems like pretty clear discrimination to me. Bad enough that young folks now have to deal with sky high housing, food, gas, and medical care, yet federal minimum wage is where it was thirty years ago, when you could buy a decent house for a hundred K. Do not let anyone tell you that this is how things have always been. When I set out on my own minimum was 3.75. a brand new car could be had.for four thousand, and my two bedroom apartment was $200. THIS and student debt are why young folks are struggling. Sick to death of people my age downing young people for struggling. We as a country need to make this right. “Young” (not quite 60) boomer here. Unlike many of my peers, i dont own a home, dont earn,own or spend much and will likely work til i drop. I think my gen grabbed and grabs as much as possible,and left you younger peope with the crumbs and bills. This Minnesota thing is one example of that, sorry to say : although i like the idea that my gen and older should be able to still learn, i get that the cheap price is incredibly unfair to younger people just starting out. As for being a drain on teacher/class resources, it might be debatable since not all boomers are clueless and/or entitled…but I also get that even that boomer is one more person who might need help from a teacher at the expense of a younger student. I’m wondering, though, how those of you critical of this Minnesota program (or of boomers generally) think about this : Where i live, colleges/universities usually have “continuing education” sections for older students, or those of any age wanting to upgrade skills, prepare for ‘standard’ degrees or just to learn something new. Classes can sometimes be for credit, but regardless, fees are comparable to those for credited programs. As long as the fees are fair, and that younger people arent being deprived of access to credited programs (and yes, i know the costs and student loan crapfest are huge barriers), do those ‘cont ed’ programs work for you?

Are these old dudes getting your possible jobs coz of these classes. Are you just salty coz you have to pay more to get you’re degrees. Why not protest unqualified scholars too why you’re at it. My Dad graduated from college in the Premium angels don’t always have wings sometimes whiskers cat flower shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this early sixties, I looked up how much he paid. His tuition was $150, so $10 per credit hour. I guess $10 per credit hour is all boomers are willing to pay. His total costs per semester was $800, that included room, board, meals, tuition, and all fees. I paid more tuition in one semester than my dad paid for his entire degree. Just think some MAGA hat wearing boomer is going to take a class and be honest when they say, “I paid cash for tuition in 2023.” They vote and until recently, the young vote didn’t turn out. Until the younger generations consistently turn out and influence elections, politicians will continue to pander to boomers. We need to show up to the polls, get involved, and make ourselves count. We got a lot of damage to undue.
