There was a report on that somewhat recently noting that the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and majority of Americans wouldn’t pass the physical. Basically we’re too fat and lazy to be drafted. The military drafts bodies, then makes them fit enough to use. Plenty of unfit guys were drafted for WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. My dad got out of Vietnam the rich (and middle class) white guy way, kinda like Trump by claiming bad knee from playing football in high school. There was a fat poor dude also there. My dad said that the fat dude tried to get out from being too fat and the military guy (recruiter? not sure the term) just said “I’ll send you to boot camp twice”. O I did Marine Corps Boot Camp. Our was 13 weeks, not 6 week. Followed by Marine Combat Training of 29 days. Follow by your MOS School. THEN you make it to a real unit. Sometimes it takes a year depending on MOS. I also went to college. The primary demographic is simply not in shape. I also think culturally the younger generations wouldn’t put up with the lifestyle. The impact of sedentary lifestyle would have to be planned for. Past generations didn’t really have that issue. Yep, basic C/O academy. You think cops are fat? Look at some of the land whales keeping our prisons on lock. 6 weeks in the academy makes a huge difference, just not enough of one to stick for most. If they want bodies badly enough, they’ll do the same thing as “the Surge” and start waiving all kinds of crazy shit

They also exclude drug use within the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and past 12 months, including the often times legal in your state but federally illegal cannabis. I think certain medications also preclude people like adhd meds, anti depressants or painkillers. And 3 years if you’re going for security clearance (more technical roles) rather than low level enlisted. The weird legal Grey area Marijuana is in is starting to really hurt staffing for both the military itself and for defense companies making the vehicles, aircraft, weapons, and equipment they use. To be fair, if the US ever had to reimplement the draft, they would lower their standards. Family Guy had a joke about 20 years ago that there was a dead guy guarding the ammunition because the army really needed people The military doesn’t have very high standards to begin with. The us navy specifically is removing the requirement to be a high school graduate or have a GED to join so long as you get a minimum score on the asvab (which is an incredibly easy test).
You’d be surprised how much the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and military does not care about standards when they really need bodies. If we were to go into a hot war with a major power, they’d be grabbing pretty much anyone over 18 with four limbs, less than 1 mil in assets, and a pulse. If that war stacked enough bodies, they’d settle for less than that. End of the day, the military can and will put a gun in your hands if they need someone to shoot it. I mean, historically most armies ever have been full of malnourished, uneducated, illiterate, parasite/disease ridden boys. Militaries in the Global North have been spoiled for choice for awhile with volunteers that have benefited from public education, modern medical care, and an overabundance of nutrition. Even just not having rickets puts most of us heads and shoulders over the quality of most recruits from most eras of military history. Hell, half the soldiers in the Civil War were random Irish/Italian/German refugees that could barely even speak English, let alone read it. If push comes to shove, it would not be comparatively very hard to shape modern citizens in the Global North into passable soldiers.

Some information about Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt

Interesting to see if Illinois is just a fat state or if this holds true across the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and country. I always have to laugh at the “kids are overweight” stats. Being a teacher, I’d say the percentage of obese kids is actually fairly low. It’s also comical that they are doing studies like this when they let fat and dumb fucks stay in the army all the time. “While there are no state-specific data available, Illinois matched the previous national figure for military ineligibility six years ago. The generals said the same could be expected today.” So, last figures were in 2017, and looked kinda bad. I live in a city that borders rural Georgia. I can attest that there are many obese children in those Georgia schools. It is regional, but there are multiple regions throughout the country. Edit: I’m not familiar with the Army, but my mother was USMC. They were not kind or sparing if a grunt got out of shape. I’m the Army, it was very much a unit by unit basis. Some were way more strict and others were lazy and didn’t give a fuck about the regs. Without looking at actual data, it’s hard to say. Also, I’m not even sure what they’re definition of obese is. You’re already labeled an alcoholic if you have 6 drinks a week in the military. Def airborne inf units are stricter on fat soldiers. Garrison/support aren’t as strict. The H/W scale is outdated af.
Airborne is obviously more strict. But you can still be in garrison in an airborne unit. Support is definitely more lax. I’ve seen plenty of fatties in our infantry units too. Bad leadership doesn’t give a fuck Wasn’t able to find the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and actual study directly, but if you just Google something about majority of Americans not passing military physicals you get quite a few articles about a study from the Pentagon or something in 2022 that said over 75% of American youth couldn’t pass a physical or something. I didn’t read much of it, but here’s a link to the first search result that seems to be relevant to the topic. Idk if it’s what he was talking about or not and I don’t feel like looking further for the original report, I’m sure you could find it if you tried.
That’s hilarious. They should do a study on the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and actual active duty. Half those dudes are probably physically unfit too You realize soldiers have to pass ongoing PT standards and if they fail so many times in a row they are discharged. Either way, both can be fudged by shitty units. I can promise you, the military is not as honorable as you think Forget regular draft riots, the military is gonna join the riots! Conscripts suck, that’s why the US military is an all-volunteer force This handnt been brought up yet, but the Generals (and Admirals) who run the military are very against the Draft ever happening again, precisely for this reason. Everyone would hate it lol, no one wants to work with a dude who is actively trying to be as useless as possible It would be much different, there would be many more conscientious objectors due to info shared across social media, along with loads of people choosing jail instead (a-la Muhammad Ali) etc. The info shared now would find more loopholes for people, court cases and lobbying. Heck after the BLM protests the country might go downhill greatly with anti war protesters, they’d need a huge military presence on US soil to quell just that.
If it was for an overseas war more people aren’t as compliant as they once were. Fighting something like ISIS is something lots of people could get behind, fighting the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and Chinese in Taiwan or the Russians in Ukraine might be a tougher sell There would never be a military draft in the US. That and selective service registration are boomer holdovers from 60 years ago. The modern professional army, along with current technology make it almost impossible that the US would ever do that. BUT the “possibility” of a draft makes for lots of views on Tik Tok and social media. The problem with “today’s professional army” is that it is volunteer and thus not a general cross-section of American society. Generally, it’s the lower classes and lower income folks that are volunteering in hopes of better opportunities. That’s why I believe there seems to be an overemphasis of thanking and honoring our Armed Services (at football games, etc.). I think it’s guilt driven because most Americans wouldn’t want their children sent into war and fighting. But it’s okay if poorer Americans can send their kids to do it.
The military is already a great cross-section of Americans, it’s not just the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and poor like you’re claiming. I served with poor people, well off and wealthy, gay, straight, and one guy who transitioned into female. White, black, Asian, Mexican guy getting his citizenship, and the only guy in the whole of the USAF who spoke Laotian. It genuinely is an all encompassing mix and anybody who says otherwise is wrong. We had people from 17 to 46, graduate degrees, six children, nowhere else to go, all over the US, several different countries. Yeah all those poor officers and senior NCOs with their masters degrees and what not. Too bad they didn’t have any choice but to join the military. /s I do agree with you about over thanking the Armed Services though. Whenever someone says to me “thank you for your service” I ask them what part of it did are they the most thankful for? The fact that we give up our constitutional rights so they don’t have to? Or is it the stress that constant deployments and moving around put on our family and friends? Most of the time they get offended and act like they are saying “just say you’re welcome asshole.” Yeah all those poor officers and senior NCOs with their masters degrees and what not. Too bad they didn’t have any choice but to join the military
The stats dont lie. Enlisted ranks skew heavily to poor inner-city and rural kids. Like.. well over 65%. Recruiters target them specifically. (How do i know? My Brother in law was a Marine recruiter for years. Also all the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and leaked documentation that gets out every few years that list the exact tactics to use on poor people). Quite a few of them manage to make good on it, though, and since the military pays for people to get degrees… well, it works. A lot of them get degrees. Which is good. And Officers… you know, the guys that make up like 15% of the armed forces… start with a Bachelors except in the (very rare in modern times) few that come up through the enlisted ranks and OCS. We don’t give up our constitutional rights. There are rules and regulations that govern us, but we still have all of our constitutional rights.
I would like to think I would reply without missing a beat and say: your willingness to go where your told for a contracted period of time. I would never want to do that, and I’m genuinely thankful others are willing to. Or, you’re just gonna get a fuck ton of people who don’t want to be there and don’t want to contribute at all to the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and military. It’s more likely a lot of people would be drafted into industrial or other support roles for the military. Maybe if there was a war with China the US would need to draft actual grunts, but most wars with an actual draft these days would probably just keep you stateside making weapons or other similar roles. 18 year olds have almost always been pretty immature. Privates tend to be immature in general as well. This is why boot camp beats recruits into soldiers that will follow orders.
However the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and chance of the U.S. having a draft is incredibly low. Although the military continues to complain about the recruiting problems, there’s no clear adversary that would require selective service. The U.S. military is too advanced and too powerful. The only way a draft happens is if there is war with China or Russia and it someone doesn’t go nuclear. Did 5 years in the Marines. Short answer either training camp would have to be extended or a lot of Americans wouldn’t be eligible to serve due to fitness. America is going to quickly realize that the average young adult isn’t fit for military service anymore because they’ve feeding us garbage food and holding us back from getting healthy with medical costs. 80% of Americans between 18-24 are unfit for the military lol but if there was an actual draft even autism wouldn’t save you
Fairly certain our logistics would fall apart. Contrary to perceptions on the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and nature of peace, infrastructure and war do not coexist. Look at what happened when people had to get a shot and wear a piece of cloth on their faces. And there have been “draft riots” before, although not recently. It would be very messy. It’s hard to even imagine, quite frankly. Maybe if the threat was great enough, there might be a surge of patriotism like in the past. I think that the draft helped a lot of folks to gain confidence, skills, learn to be independent and grow up. I don’t think they were any more mature before. Patriotism back then was higher than today bc people were more gullible than today. You will see a whole civil war unravel today because people are totally not okay to die for a war on the other side of the world. Almost nobody is going to allow themselves to be drafted into a war, it’s too easy to get out of. Women definitely won’t get drafted. Only 17% of American youth are eligible to serve in the armed forces. The rest are too lame/fat/stupid/drugged up. I think mandatory national service along the lines of the CCC/TVA would be much more productive than mandatory military service.
Mandatory military service in a peacetime scenario ends up with a lot of make-work and keeping people busy for the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and sake of it. Infrastructure improvement is constant. No, it would perpetuate the military industrial complex and US imperialism. Now an alternative mandatory service like a civilian conservation corps that actually adds value to the nation is something I could support. Nope, The military wants immature people. They are easier to train then people who are already free thinkers. Say you want a burger for lunch, is it easier to talk your friend into that burger if he has his mind set on pizza or if he doesn’t know what he wants? What would happen if there was a draft. Then a whole bunch of 17-25 year olds would be headed for bootcamp. No matter how much “tec” the U.S has they still need a lot of boots on the ground. The bigger the fight the more boots.
If there was a draft, it would be cause of some short of attack on the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and US. Here is the main part, the draft get over played in every telling. Most people are volunteers, yes even in Vietnam. Its likely, most would be volunteers with around 10 % being draftees. This that where drafted unless specifically gifted would end up on the frontlines, or logistics. No 18 years are as stupid as ever and they would find away to get through it Over the entire duration, yes, the majority of the total number that went to Vietnam were still volunteers – about 70/30. However, after the draft, the percentages were quite different. It was much closer to 40/60 – almost ALL of the grunt/basic infantry was draftees. The other 40% that remained volunteers were NCOs, support, highly skilled specialists, and pilots/etc. Also, that number is thrown off by Navy personnel – the Navy had way less trouble getting volunteers because you were substantially less likely to get your ass shot off. After the war had been going for a while, they couldn’t remotely enough volunteers. Thats why the total numbers over the entire duration arent a really good metric – only the numbers after the draf was implemented.
The big issue, pun intended is that the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and majority of Americans do not meet physical qualifications in order to serve. Only the fittest people would get drafted. If they instituted a weight loss camp to get you down to a fighting weight before your enlistment began, it could work, and you would even see volunteers. They already happened. Two of them with contradictory rulings – one, in a sane jurisdiction, said it definitely violates the Equal Protection Clause (with an 80+ page essay detailing the exquisite legal argument), another, in the insane-as-fuck-theocracy-wannabe 5th circuit said “nuh uh” (with like a 4 page statement). However… 3 of the current conservative justices (Barret, Kavanaugh, and Roberts) have all basically said that yeah, its a pretty blatant violation…. so its likely that even THIS Supreme Court would come down and rule it unconstitutional to exclude females…. Because, while “the people”/”people” as an abstract are … not happy about, but OK with the Draft when it is men-only, every father is an instant hypocrite when it comes to his daughter and it would become immediate political suicide to go through with any form of Draft if it had to include women.
It would never happen again unless were directly attacked/invaded and needed all those extra bodies for realsies. THere’s also the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and part where the current generals are totally uninterested in the Draft anyway. They dont want draftees because draftees suck. They want people that (ostensibly) want to be there – even if they had to be bribed with signing bonuses or relax standards to get them. Lots of draft dodgers, myself included. I’m willing to fight for my country if they get rid of income taxes, or use the income taxes for public support and not bailing out banks going under or sending it to Israel and Ukraine. But until then, I’d rather be in prison close to home than on another continent when the nukes fall. I am assuming that the nukes would be falling because the only reason I see a draft happening would be a direct war with Russia and/or China.
You do NOT want to see what a world looks like when a major agricultural hub that feeds a giant percentage of people in the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and world is allowed to fall into the hands of Putin. It would be incredibly economically and politically devestating for the US and your wallet and well being would feel it immediately and harshly. There are legit, real, top-level long term national security concerns about letting a country like Russia just go rogue and start gobbling up neighbors whenever it wants. And if Russia’s such a monster, why are US components showing up in their military tech? And why was the EU buying their gas and oil all that time? Aside from pig iron, sunflower seeds, and steel pipes, what exports and impact would the US not sending aid to Ukraine have on people like me? Genuine question, not to sound aggressive. I’m more of a “America needs to spend more money on Americans and less money on defending other countries that are capable of defending themselves” mindset. A lot of people who are in favor of interveening in the Russia/Ukraine conflict and the Israel/Gaza conflict (on both sides of the isle) would suddenly not be in favor of interveening It won’t happen anytime soon. If it did it’d be a total war situation. Wed probably have enough time to whip the boys into shape given the oceans as defense and our command of them. The government would have to pass anti sedition laws like in ww1 meaning you’d be fucked if you don’t sign up for the draft. Even so 8 or 9 out of ten servicemen are behind the lines
If there was a military draft now? Well, first they’d have to excuse the Poster Texas Longhorns Pregame Party College Football Playoff 12.21 Longest Running Tailgate In Texas shirt and by the same token and morbidly obese people…and then we’d be outnumbered by even the Belgians Honestly I think we could well see what would happen sooner rather than later. The Navy was an entire aircraft carrier worth of recruits short last year. We’ve got this whole “everyone’s a recruiter” thing going on. Bonuses are really high – that’s how they got me back in as a reservist last year, because they didn’t want to lose a trained 2nd class of my rating. If there is a draft you better buy ASVAB for dummeis and study up. With enough luck you’ll be smart enough to serve burgers at the chow hall instead of being a grunt. Same thing that has always happened the people forced to go will fight for their lives not because they want to but because they have to. If you think one single generation of humans are less capable then you haven’t seen people fighting to survive
