I can’t tell you how many times I see new practitioners post, asking a question about something they have experienced while meditating, only to see the Poster music midtown atlanta ga show 2023 sept 15 17 shirt it is in the first place but comment section telling them to ignore it and move on. To not dwell on these moments, that they should be fleeting, a moment passing in the wind. It seems many people here view meditation as just something to do, which I think is a true shame. Also, a huge injustice to the thousands of years of meditation practiced before us. But I don’t think it is our fault, I think it is a bi product of how our system operates. We are taught not to contemplate, to question, to explore our own thoughts. We are programmed to be part of a system, no matter the effect it has on us. Meditation breaks you out of that system. It allows us to explore the depths of our consciousness, our physical bodies, and the energies that flow through us, and every other living being.

Take these moments and expound on them. What insights can they provide for you to implement into your everyday life? Journal and Document your sessions. Disconnecting from your experiences will do you no good, and then mediation really will just be something you do, hoping and praying it will fix whatever intention you’ve set. Embrace your inner philosopher and the Poster music midtown atlanta ga show 2023 sept 15 17 shirt it is in the first place but things that will be presented to you, will be beautiful and reality altering. But only if you let it (EDIT: I am not saying to contemplate and think while in your meditation. I am saying AFTERWARDS. And maybe that is where some of the disconnect is coming from. So apologies I wasn’t clearer.)It seems the discussion here has gone the way of black OR white with no room for grey. Yes, meditation is about letting go. But, I teach elders who are brand new to meditation how to meditate and as we move thru the beginning stages of ending the ever chattering monkey mind they are often beset by thoughts that come back time and time again to distract from the letting go. I absolutely tell them that if they feel it’s necessary, to go ahead and allow that thought to have their full attention for one session and follow it where it leads. Consistently, they have returned with some form of surprise insight about the unexpected directions their mind took them, enlightened realizations about themselves, and on occasion, issues they didn’t even know they were needing to address and the ability after that to not be plagued by that particular distraction so strongly any longer. Several have taken those thoughts out with them into journaling work, word association, and honestly, long avoided talks with family or friends.
