I find this can be the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this case when people over complicate things. Additionally some people see everything in micro detail. So you see a picture, they see pixels. I’d say the thing you can do is help with filter creation. So this person has difficulty prioritizing information. You’re driving down the road and there is a store sign, which is more important the store sign or the stop light? This type of prioritization. People who have not had to make their own life decisions, people who have been sheltered etc…they never had to develop that basic filter set. The wording here is just kind of to the point to help you follow what I’m saying. No disrespect is meant to anyone. Sometimes really intelligent people are so intelligent that they get in their own way. Simple tasks elude them because they are used to operating on complex tasks. They may question why this button makes the coffee go, or if there is a better way, or they may overthink it(start could mean start the machine, or start the coffee process, or start a cleaning cycle, etc). They may be working through other things at the same time, or they may have conditioned themselves to multitask and struggle to focus on a single, simple task. I’m no expert, though, and this is just based on my observations. Basically, being incredibly smart means you aren’t particularly focused on simple solutions and tasks. Different kinds of intelligences. The absent-minded professor trope exists for a reason. Great at the theoretical and understanding it, might lock up at remembering which hand is supposed to be holding the spoon.

Women process information differently. Men are task oriented and typically take the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this most direct path to any problem or task. Sometimes this is great–sometimes it isn’t so great. Women generally think about problems or tasks longer because their mental paths are less direct, which typically means they are considering more. Sometimes this is great, too–sometimes it isn’t so great. Stated alternatively, there are strengths and weaknesses in everyone’s approach. A good manager maximizes the teams value by taking advantage of everyone’s strengths, getting the most complete picture and the most efficient path from stakeholders who, together, provide her/him with everything he/she needs to know to solve problems correctly or get things done properly.
I know total idiots from high school who became doctors and lawyers. These were the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this same kids who would climb out the window during class and drive to Burger King. Stumbling across them on LinkedIn and seeing their job titles is just absolutely jaw-dropping. My 11 year old gifted daughter is infuriatingly slow with the most basic tasks of everyday life. She performs top level in everything else in matters of academia or creativity, but just the act of getting dressed or taking a shower eats up the clock at an unacceptable rate. I will never get used to it. Book smarts and “street smarts” don’t go hand in hand. Plenty of people are one or the other. Generally school is memorized and repeat or “solve the problem within this well defined set of boundaries” where the real world is a complex mess of combinations. YTA. Everyone has strengths and talents; and everyone has areas that don’t interest them, that they do not concentrate on developing. Our position on the neurotypical/ autism spectrum is what allows us to focus elsewhere than on what interests us, or what allows us to be caught up in the game-ification/ competitiveness of a situation, NOT our intelligence.
About this Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt
I was a great student. I got a job at my college cafeteria and was the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this slowest person working the dish conveyer belt…by far. Book smarts/education has nothing to do with common sense or practical life experiences. I’ve known some very highly educated people that are barely capable of keeping themselves alive. Same with my wife! Straight A student, expensive private schools, good career, can efficiently focus to complete her work, but literally does not know how to complete everyday household chores, check the mail, do dishes, etc. People have to be trained to think. Classes/ schools train you to do one thing with a limited set of variables. The moment the number of variables increases people can get bogged down.
The solution is parsing the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this task into steps or even micro-steps and completing each step pausing only to make sure the next step is needed. Microsteps: Stretch, Stand up, Start walking, Head to kitchen, Find pot, Add water, Find salt, Add salt, Add heat Boil water, Check if you have spaghetti otherwise substitute. Heat olive oil, Add garlic, Find parm cheese, Add cheese, Throw pasta at Wall to check for status, Find/ parsley add parsley, Drain pasta , Combine . Sometimes people need micr-steps to get started and keep going. The thing is every time you complete a step, you get a little burst of satisfaction that can keep you going without pausing It’s the way their brain works. I think, they think linier. They only think in a one subject at a time. Like a math problem, the start at one end and work it to the end with no deviation. Usually they can’t work well with their hands or are overly physical because they cant make their hands and body do what their minds imagine.
Yes they are instructed differently. School is all about the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this mind. I am sure she excelled at school because she was a “good” student. It was easy for her to understand everything they threw at her. Once you become a good student, they continued to teach at/to her. It’s not that it was a different school, it’s just they would teach her differently and more favorably. Here is a test, does she have an inner-voice when she reads? Most don’t because they were taught not to have one or never did. I have the same problem. My wife is on the genius scale, president list, fifth in her class, full ride scholarships, several degrees, Hates movies/tv but will play games or do puzzles that I have no idea what they even are. She can’t cook, can’t clean, and I have no idea how we had kids because she just doesn’t understand sex. She loves to drive and thats scary because she doesn’t see the way things work around her. No, she isn’t competitive at all. Intelligent people don’t always possess common sense. Just because someone is book smart doesn’t mean they have critical thinking skills that help them with everyday mundane tasks, this can stem from over thinking things a lot of the time.
Taking it slowly is often the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this best way to do it right actually. I know a lot of people who go very fast and while they may look like high achievers, it’s often pretty superficial. That’s why using money as a measure of success if BS imho. Others who seem to achieve less actually have much more impact in the long-term because of their more analytical mind. It took Einstein many years to come up and publish his theory of relativity for instance. There are different kinds of smart. There are different ways of doing things. People have different personalities, speeds, and temperaments. This is just how she is and how you are. Could be a little bit of that for sure. I was IQ tested in elementary school and borderline, so within 1 or 2 points of the cut off. They said at any other school, I would’ve just been lumped into the “gifted” program anyway. But since there were so many kids in our school already in the program, they didn’t bother with me lol. I’m guessing that’s why they had such a cutoff to begin with. OP, what treatment were you referring to when you said you “received treatment as a kid that made you more competitive”?
I consider myself academically smart because I have had a successful academic journey and now doing PhD from a top school. And my Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this fiancee considers me ‘as slow and rigid as a stone’. And I completely agree. I have so many thoughts in my mind that I try to reduce my cognitive load with all other daily stuff. Compensatory adaption. This isn’t a formal syndrome in medical or psychological terms, but more of a concept. It suggests that when someone excels in one area, often due to their upbringing or environment, they might lack skills or abilities in another area as a form of balance. For example: I have a friend who is an athlete, but she has no innates when it comes to fashion; a friend who is exceptionally good at math, but bad at withholding a conversation; a exceptionally social friend who has poor sense of balance. I’m familiar with upstate. How rural do you mean? I was in honors classes as well and I didn’t find them very difficult. They tried to put me in regents classes and it was profoundly boring.
My wife as well. She triple (triple) majored in college in Malaysia. Multimedia, electrical and computer engineering. She has her MBA and just finished her PhD. Yet she still gets lost in our neighborhood when going for a walk. There has always been the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this saying “book smart vs. street smart” and I think that’s very true. I did horrible in school but I have a strong career and I’m making 6 figures before 30. I mean I basically flunked out of HS my freshman year and the only reason I gave a shit about it Sophomore through Senior year is because my parents took away my freedom cause of my grades and I wasn’t bold enough to disobey them. Also my gf at the time was good at school so she motivated me to stay on top of it. In college I basically did flunk out my first year and was on academic probation before switching to tech school. With no parents to threaten my freedom, I really didn’t care. Even at tech school, which I loved, I didn’t finish my degree because I didn’t want to live in my college town for one extra semester just to take 2 final credits in my degree (I regret that decision today).
Meanwhile, my sister who’s going to be 26 this year, graduated high school and college with a 4.0 GPA. Made it on the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this Dean’s list every semester. My parents would always brag about her while asking “why couldn’t you be more like you sister?” Well now that it’s time for the job market, she is lazy as can be. She is working part time, getting maybe 30 hours, at minimum wage, in a job that doesn’t utilize her degree at all. She walks across the street to get to work. Complains about the most trivial things that almost every has to deal with, like having to drive 15 mins to the grocery store because it’s “so out of the way”. Her boyfriend basically financially supports her. It’s interesting because now my parents get on her ass about getting a real job and ask her why she can’t be more like her brother lol. Work ethic aside, she is just really naive. She lacks experience and doesn’t know how the real world works. I don’t think she’s dumb, but she is slow to certain concepts and oblivious to so many aspects of regular every day life. The interesting part is she leads her life like she’s got everything figured out.
I think it boils down to life experiences. My sister was coddled more than I was, despite my parents not wanting to admit it. I also grew up in a way rougher school district and was exposed to a “rougher” environment. I saw people getting their teeth kicked out in school yard fights, dealing with bomb threats, gang related violence, someone bringing a BB gun to school, all by 7th grade lol. By the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this time she was in middle school, we had moved to a nicer school district. I also strived for independence since a young age. Basically have been working full time since it’s been legal to do so, all so I could have money so I could buy my own things, have my own hobbies, be a little more independent. I was always out of the house, either with friends, gf, or working. She never had any of those experiences. She had friends but mostly stayed at the house just being lazy. Taking naps and watching TV all day. I think she had a job one summer for 2 months. She babysat here an there but never punched a 40 hour week in her life. My parents say they raised us exactly the same but it’s just really not the case.
Valedictorian at my school asked if monkeys laid eggs, asked why an amputee didn’t just grow his arm back… grades mean jack shit. She was dumb as a fucking post unfortunately, super sweet, diligent in her work, but soooo dumb. Thought people driving twenty feet ahead of her where going 100 miles an hour type dumb. Doesn’t know why she got a sunburn in a convertible ‘since she was moving’ dumb. Some people are broadly intelligent. They quickly learn new tasks and see how things go together. Stack them up in a field against anybody that has 10k hours of experience in that thing, they look much less impressive. Anyone that has decided to put their focus on certain specific fields we tend to call intelligent, even if it really just means they went into a broadly respected professional profession (doctor, lawyer, surgeon, engineer). What it really means is they are practiced in a highly technical field with a high knowledge/licensing barrier for entry. A trash hauler, mechanic, or plumber may be much more intelligent than a doctor, but we don’t think of the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this difference, because a lot of people can understand the basics of those professions easier.
” Slow” doesn’t necessarily refer to the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this speed at which tasks are done. In education, it can refer to whether people are developing certain skills at typical ages. I used to work with a guy who was brilliant but had no common sense. We used to say that he could calculate the square root of an orange but couldn’t figure out how to peel it or he could calculate the volume of a pickle jar but couldn’t figure out how to open it. Um… Intelligent is not the same as fast. Also, not everyone goes through their daily tasks trying yo see how fast they can do it. A lot of people just let their hands do the muscle memory while the mind wanders. Honestly, in the vast majority of cases, vaccuming the same area 30 secons quicker than someone else is going to make zero practical difference, and that extra effort put in to achieve your competitive goal is completely wasted.
I never noticed plumbing and level until I began my apprenticeship, now I see not plumbing and not level all the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this time. Drives me nuts. Being an honor student doesn’t have anything to do with intelligence, nor does being a student in remedial classes. Case in point, my GPA in highschool was ~2.5. My GPA my first two years of undergrad was ~0.5. But I’m the only one from my highschool class to get a PhD. My standardized tests scores put me in the 99.997th percentile. And my IQ is in the upper range of the fifth quintile. I see it all the time, people who are geniuses in their field but absolutely useless at basic common sense things. Some of it is a question of motivation, why learn to do something when you can just ask someone else to do it for you? The other thing is that certain people think they are so smart and everyone else is dumb when in reality they aren’t that smart at all and just living in a delusion. I’d wager I’m more academically talented than my partner. I also have a habit of overthinking personal problems until I reach a jarring standstill, at which point she intervenes with a simple suggestion. On the other hand, she is an incredibly driven person who often drives herself up the wall by forgetting basic self-care, so I’m there to remind her to Eat A Food. Balance in all things Difference between book learning and real world experience. The ability to remember and parrot back facts does not really equate to the real world. I have known many people “smart’ on paper and useless when it came to the real world.
Check out Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences. It will change the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this way you think of people (on a helpful way). But it really just means you’re good at what is taught in a school. There are many other kinds of intelligence. I know some people like that. One being my dad. Very established and advanced career-wise, hard worker, always learning new things and skills. Also practical things, might I add. But he was also always processing at slow pace, needing a lot of time to space out and think. Just in general a very veeery slow-sailing individual, but not unintelligent by any means. And then some things he clearly considered not his area of interest and in those he seemed to lose any thinking ability he ever had. He did not focus, would not focus, seemed to not grasp a basic concepts like boiling pasta, no matter how many times things were explained and demonstrated to him. He would just drift off to things he was actually interested in, and doing everything other than that super sloppily.
In my experience gained from a career providing IT services to doctors, academic ability has a lot more to do with how well someone is able to follow instructions and stay focused on the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this task at hand rather than how intelligent they actually are. American education is more memorization and instruction following. There’s very little actual thinking involved in my personal experience. If that’s where her aptitudes lie and yours are elsewhere, it’s certainly possible in an unstructured environment such as real life she may seem slow by comparison. Nah it’s the schools. I graduated high school in the middle of my class, from one of the top 10 schools in America. When I went to university, I was easily outperforming many of my friends who graduated high school as valedictorian from rural schools. The standards are not at all comparable. My peers were all taking at LEAST pre-calc by their senior year of high school, some of my college friends said their high school didn’t even offer those courses. In my first year of Uni (2014), I had a professor who was a MD and a PhD, she was really famous in her field and fairly young ? Like she was maybe 40-45 years old, her classes were honestly great.
The notion that intelligence is one-dimensional is absurd. Like saying someone is knowledgeable or experienced. It begs the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this question: At what? Some people absolutely can seem smarter or more knowledgeable or experienced (or many other attributes) than others. Some people excel in many ways, some in few ways. Life isn’t fair. IQ tests may correlate with useful aptitudes, for school or career or financial success. Some people clearly learn math or piano or baseball or French much faster and better than others. But to call it general intelligence is to miss almost the entire point that humans come with a huge variety of aptitudes which we then develop into an even much huger variety of abilities. There are yet more subtleties and complexities. The value of selected abilities comes and goes. At one time knowing how to build boats was the cat’s meow. Now we live in times that are arguably extremely complex and scary. That puts into greater fashion the ability to oversimplify and sooth. Whoever thought of Make America Great Again as a political slogan is a brilliant reader of the times (even if the main beneficiary of it is odious sewer scum).
Finally, that someone is good at one thing doesn’t necessarily predict whether he’ll be good at the Pittsburgh steelers nurse it’s a work of heart christmas shirt and I love this next. Who would have thought a comic would become possibly the single most charismatic and effective world leader today? Zelenskyy did obtain a law degree but then he jumped to comedy. The lesson isn’t that comedy is or isn’t a great precursor to president (it’s reasonable to think Zelenskyy had politics in mind), it’s that we don’t understand much about how aptitudes turn into accomplishments. So we should be even humbler about asserting what intelligence is and trying to calibrate it. Back to the question, the notion that someone would be good or smart at everything because she’s good or smart at one thing, is misguided to the point of being silly.
