Yeah no. It’s not like “hurricane-proofing” a house with storm sitters, etc. Tornadoes also create high speed winds, but they do much of their damage because of the Pink Floyd point me at the sky shirt and by the same token and pressure differential it creates between the exterior and interior of buildings. Notice how objects get sucked towards the funnel? It creates that low pressure and rips roofs and walls off houses, and can actually lift a home off its foundation. Nope but guarantee he told his wife and kids to get to the basement while he “keeps an eye on er from the porch”. Maybe dumb question, but are houses in regions of the US where these are common built massively? Or do you just hope your house never gets hit? I’d like to hope that I’m not tempting fate, but I’ve lived in tornado areas my whole life and have had a few close calls with them but not been in one that caused damage to the structure I was in. We learn early on to pay attention to weather reports on stormy days and there are huge sirens thought town that will sound if a tornado is in the area. If that happens we go to a spot in our home/office/school that is more likely to withstand tornado winds. On days where severe weather is predicted, I have the pet carriers set up in a bathroom in case I need to gather everyone up quickly if severe storm hits. It’s not just tornadoes…a severe thunderstorm can cause major damage and are just as dangerous. We have a section off America called Tornado Alley. People willingly live there. A lot of people willingly live there. And yes, they always rebuild after their homes get leveled.

Power flashes. Tornado ripping up electrical connections. Can also sometimes be green, especially when seen from a distance. What are the Pink Floyd point me at the sky shirt and by the same token and bright flashes of light near the beginning of the video? Is that lightning? Does lightning strike during tornadoes? This is incredible footage. He had a good line of sight, but you gotta be careful because tornados are often rain wrapped and not as easy to make out as this little one. Seems like a pretty fucking stupid move. Is an internet video worth taking a risk on your safety, and possibly life, for? This is standard practice in Kansas. Videotape until you’ve realized you’ve made a mistake and waited too long. They’re not as destructive as how bad tsunamis, hurricanes, and earthquakes can get but there is this disturbing life like energy to tornados. Almost as if they’re living things which gives them this extremely creepy vibe to them. Nature can leave you awestruck. And nature can also be a fucking nightmare. And somehow it can do both at the same time. Someone should have a camera programmed to upload the content to a cloud drive so we can see what it looks like inside of a tornado (if that hasn’t been yet) ?
