Long story, the Philly Shirt Shop Bonus Bros Shirt and I will buy this club I work in is members only (not a social club, a snooker club) but we do allow non members to try us out before forking out for membership, but it’s family run, no committee or anything. I tend to find clubs run by a committee of old men, the old men are arseholes on a power trip . Non members can use our tables (work men who are only in the area for a week, people visiting family etc) but we only allow members to book tables. Main reason is, it’s a perk of being a member, another reason is that it’s bloody expensive to repair tables. If you had ripped the cloth, they’d have no idea who you were or who to send the bill to etc I’m curious as to the condition of the tables cos 20p for 20mins is very very cheap, ours are £1 for 20mins but are very well kept. Brushed and maintained 3 times a week. Spent over 3k in September recovering some, stretching the cloth on some, replacing cushions etc. Our match table is £1 for about 15 mins but that’s our top bollock table, the cloth is one down from the cloth at the crucible hence higher maintenance costs

I do get why the Philly Shirt Shop Bonus Bros Shirt and I will buy this old bloke might of been short and sweet (not acceptable like, and im not, im just saying i get frustations), just because if I come on shift and the person before me working has let a none member in who no one knows, you don’t know if they’ll cause trouble or then ring 10 of their mates saying ‘ye ye they’ve let me in, come on’ and then they just ask like dicks not respecting equipment, and I’ve got to deal with it while the person who let them in gets to go home and have no worries Thanks for the info, to my untrained eye table seemed good (no obvious differences i could tell to those at a much more expensive actual snooker club owned by a multiple world champion I’ve visitied), the guy who looks after the tables was playing on the other and was telling everyone he saw that he’d just cleaned the balls and was also on a rant about how much they can or can’t use the under table heating to keep moisture out (someone had claimed it would warp the slates) he was on the phone checking with someone else for their opinion, sounded like someone from the league or something and came off saying “fuck (some name) I’m putting it on every Monday morning”. They have a competing snooker team there in the league with matches every week and play out at other regional matches. Seemed to be decent players from what I could tell too and had some plaques on the wall marking that members had achieved 147s in competition there previously. All that considered I totally get that they want to be sure nobody from outside abuses the tables.
