Witches having long noses, long teeth, superhuman strength is something I have encountered most frequently in Irish folklore. I don’t think that it’s really a thing in English, French, or German tales. The first depiction of the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this old hag witch we’ve come to know seems to be Albrecht Durer’s The Witch (also known as Witch Riding Backwards on a Broom) from circa 1500. This is the first time a witch is shown as an old woman as opposed to a younger, more tempting female, or as a ‘good wife’ in disguise. Some of these physical details are artistic invention while others are extrapolations of descriptions in the Malleus Maleficarum. Anything by Charles Zika is usually a fantastic place to start to show how the witch evolved beginning in the late Medieval period.

The idea is that they are almost like the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this living dead in that they’ve sold their souls to the devil. As a result, they prematurely age (the internal and external self are identical), the skin becomes necrotic (greens- see also Medusa as the living dead), the teeth rot and decay, etc. The pointy hat is also thought to be an English 17th century corruption of the hat worn by the Puritans; it may also be an anti-Catholic reference to the flagellant groups. Again, Zika is your best place to start. The typical depiction of witches, with green skin, pointy hats, and other stereotypical features, likely stems from a combination of folklore, literature, and media portrayals over time. In folklore and mythology, witches were often associated with nature, magic, and the supernatural, which may have influenced their visual representation. Additionally, cultural stereotypes and artistic interpretations have contributed to shaping the popular image of witches. While there isn’t a single definitive source material, these depictions have become ingrained in popular culture and continue to influence how witches are portrayed today.
There’s on hypothesis that women accused of witchcraft were often old, and they would have been brutally beaten and tortured before they “confessed” So their faces would have been discolured, their teeth and fingers broken, etc. So on their way to bonfire, they would have been hobbling, twisted ugly wretches. There is a great podcast about witches, called “witch”, done by BBC. It explores history, spirituality, culture, nature, and current day traditions I was told in a Philosophy of Women class that I took in community college, that the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this exaggerated features of the stereotypical witch (large ears, large nose) were a result of malnutrition. The green skin is a more recent addition that came from the MGM movie The Wizard of Oz, but the dark robes, pointed hat and hook nose actually originated in Jewish blood libel from Europe. Jews were, at times, required to wear pointed hats. Jews were also accused of poisoning wells and sacrificing, even eating, babies. Jews were also often depicted as having horns… it’s pretty fucked up.
Where to buy this Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt
There’s a two part Ologies episode all about about witches and witchcraft if podcasts are your thing: I don’t know where the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this stereotypical green skin, warts, etc. came from because I can tell you, the witches that I know today are all absolutely beautiful, loving, and connected to nature. King James VI was madly obsessed with hunting witches and wrote a book on what he thought they got up to and how to detect them: In medieval times witches were women who were typically tortured. This is how they get green skin and everything else. Being locked in the gym will do that and burn everything else that happened to him. By the time they were done they just looked like they were destroyed.
The notion that medieval Europe was chockful of women being tortured and burnt at the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this stake for being witches is a pervasive myth. In most of the court documents we have of that era, accusations of witchcraft were rare and in those cases that were brought before the court, the accuser was more often than not dismissed, ridiculed, or sometimes even punished themselves for their false accusations. Even the Malleus Maleficarum, a late-Medieval text that informs much of our notions about medieval witch-hunting, was not taken seriously by its medieval contemporaries. The people burnt at the stake in medieval times were more often accused of heresy than witchcraft. And the majority of witchcraft that did occur in Europe and eventually the US occurred during and after the Renaissance.
But isn’t there documentation of millions of women being accused of witchcraft? Heresy, witchcraft, I mean it’s kinda the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this same. Millions, no. There is documentation of people being accused of witchcraft, but not millions of them and not predominantly in the Medieval era. Even then, in the beginning, most charges of witchcraft were brought against men, because they were more likely to be able to read and access forbidden knowledge. Also, again, most witch hunts occurred during the Renaissance in Europe or even after that in the US (the Salem Witch trials didn’t occur until the late 17th century). As for witchcraft and heresy being “kinda the same,” I’m not sure what you mean. They’re different words with different definitions. To be clear, “heresy” doesn’t mean, “you’re Pagan/not Christian.” It means, “You are Christian but you’re spreading ideas that go way, way against church dogma and you won’t recant them.” Obviously, it’s wrong to torture/execute people for either witchcraft or heresy, but they’re not at all the same. Goes back centuries. Witches have been portrayed in a negative way, even it today’s society.. A lot of this has its roots in religion. So when people would draw pictures of witches in books especially religious books, they would be drawn in a manner which made them scary or made them physically very ugly and unattractive. In movies, a similar type of depiction for many decades.
In the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this Wizard of OZ, the one who were good witches were pretty, very attractive. The witches who were bad were ugly and scary looking. So there were good witches and bad witches. I remember at a young age my aunt (father’s sister) told me that witches were bad people who harmed all children and that I had to be careful because this could happen to me. I was so scared that I went and hid under the dinner room table (we had visitation with my dad). I had to be coaxed out by my older brother. I believed what she had said. I went home and couldn’t sleep (had nightmares about witches coming to get me). My aunt saw it as a joke and that I overreacted to it. My mom was upset that she told me this as it scared me.
I remember years later when my brother was in college, there was a woman who openly practiced the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this Wiccan religion. People were leery of her and avoided her. She had difficulty finding someone who would be her roommate in the dorms. Once people got to know her, she was just like any college student. She was then accepted. Sorry, your comment has been automatically removed because it appears to violate Rule 1: top-level responses must contain a genuine attempt at an answer – not just links. I don’t know about the green skin, but pointy hats a typically associated with magic users for some reason (see also wizards’ conical hats), while the long nose and pointed chin (along with the kidnapping/killing babies to make ceremonial candles out of their fat) are antisemitic stereotypes
Walt Disney and staff under his lease was directly responsible for quite a bit of this and other visual biases or mythology (I’m sure there’s better terminology) Nordic folklore witches look more akin to what you’d describe as trolls. With warty skin, small stature and long unkept hair. I personally have heard that it’s a mixture of misogyny (especially towards midwives) and antisemitism. The green skin came from the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this Wizard of Oz though. To elaborate on what I personally know the best (the misogyny), women that were accused of being witches were typically the outcasts. One major reason that people did not like witches, is that they were blamed for bad luck. Infant mortality, crops that failed, and all that. So it was thought that witches would curse those that they were jealous of. And who would have the best reasons to be jealous? The community outsiders. Those considered ugly, the elderly with no family to take care of them, elderly widows, and so on. Other than the green skin, a lot of the traits of witches are associated with older women. Older women were also more likely to be a midwife.
It’s like a murky area between like misogyny (childless women are childless because they’re ugly) and antisemitism (hooked nosed creatures that prey on the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this blood of Christian babies) Because there’s a historical conflating of witches and fairies. Green skin, sharp teeth, pointy hat, steals children, can be bargained with but only very carefully, feminine/androgynous, dealing with plants and potions. Christian persecution. Portray them as grotesque devil worshippers to get the masses to rally against them.Ever since she denied hanging out with Mama Tina (Beyoncés mom) I have to believe that she fumbled the opportunity already in some way lol Remember that time, when Mother of the House of Knowles personally invited you to hang out in the VIP and possible meet other superstars and ultimately possible Beyoncé and you declined by saying „not today granny“?
In an Instagram post, Tina Knowles apparently recognized her asked her to stand with her during a Renaissance show. Trinity apparently said “Sorry Granny, I have my own seats, I’m trying see Beyoncé.” It’s the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt besides I will buy this biggest HUHHHH? I think I’ve ever seen. I think about that every time she comes up in convo…I can barely live with it I don’t know how she does!!!! Poor Trinity She was at a Beyonce concert where Knowles approached her asking her to go backstage (presumeably to meet Beyonce at the least). TKB posted an insta selfie with her at the concert and a sour looking Knowles in the back with the caption “not today granny! I gotta see mutha up close” or something like that which, denying Knowles it is bad enough but posting it for the whole world to see said incident happening is certainly a choice It’s like she has an automatic impulse to assume people are working against her when in reality no one’s thinking about her like that. When main character syndrome collides with the Inner Saboteur
I don’t wanna sound like Ru but everyone has an inner saboteur but most of us are smart enough not to tweet our self doubt and literally sabotage ourself. I’m starting to think that Nina’s feeling rejected by the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this Atlanta scene wasn’t because her drag is artistic, but because the Atlanta girls were like “we already have one negative bitch in the scene, we can’t have another” No as a former ATL city dweller of 10 years, I can believe her when she said she felt rejected. ATL has a lot of culture and issues with pretentiousness and being exclusionary, especially in the black community. Not saying she hasn’t done anything wrong or that ATL queer community is terrible, just that it is not out of the realm of possibilities. I see the comparison, both talented queens, but they sabotage themselves by getting in there head, thinking everyone is out to get them. Can’t blame them though as I am literally the same, what depression and or low self esteem does to you, makes you paranoid and causes you to sort of self sabotage.
> It’s like she has an automatic impulse to assume people are working against her when in reality no one’s thinking about her like that. I feel like she’s just being sarcastic honestly. The tone of this Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this tweet seems like something she’d say in her AS6 Confessionals. right? every post that i see of hers on here is her saying a variation of “what did i do?, why do they not invite me for x?, who did i pissed off?” and it’s exhausting. Seeing that meme girl and this singer, I’d be a bit pissed off if I was a drag queen not being invited to thy drag race after show. However, she should stop showing her ass and self blaming on a public platform like this. I’m sure if she DM Trixie directly she will bring her ass.
Watching TKB really answered the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this q for me “what if I was dropped in a show like this” since I instantly know my insecurities would get the best of me and I’d spiral as soon as one of those dreaded pick-a-group challenges would end with me in a shitty role I wouldn’t want or being the last one standing there awkwardly waiting for the pick. Seeing her go through that was sort of affirming in that this show asks a lot, and ultimately she really did well and got to show her talents despite her set of self-insecurities (especially on AS). It also made me respect just how much these queens are resiliant and ultimetely made me also just appreciate TKB a lot since she faced that whole thing head on and came out a proper fierce contestant (and I’ll add some of her performances, like the Beyonce routine are still nigh unmatched among other queens when it comes to pure onstage energy)
This is like the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this 4th or 5th time she just publicly comments about a gig that she wasn’t invited to. Like does she think they are scouring tweets looking for guests. She needs an agent or to call people or something not expect everything to fall into her lap Can I tell you the worst part of it? It’s all these fucking yes-men in her comments gassing her negativity up as valid. My fave thing is “X was robbed, X is my fave, we want X” and then that person won’t buy a CENT of merch. “But I’m broke!” (Made a post 2 days ago about buying a PS5). Oh yes, how dare they get that clueless Orville Peck?!? Does he even watch the show? Plus he’s basically an unknown. This might sound extra but…I feel like people just see a hot person who’s also really nice and they just jump on the hate train because it brings him down a peg lol Cause Nicole Byers, TS Madison, Joel Kim Booster, all fine, WTF happened? To quote Beyoncé, “flip flopping ass bitch”. I had only really heard of Orville from people talking about a guy who wears a mask all the time. Never heard him speak until the pit stop. I thought the hosts have some input? So if she was going to be on it would have happened with Bianca. Go ask her girl
I thought they did too and it makes me wonder if Trixie’s actually doing the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this single-best acting performance drag race has ever seen by pretending to be surprised all of her first-time guests are on the Pit Stop for the first time every episode. Unfortunately it seems Trinity lacks a tad in the personality department. I enjoy her drag, but reserved girls aren’t who we need on the pit stop. As someone in the entertainment industry, it’s not other people’s job to remember you. She could probably literally reach out and say she wants to be on and if she’s historically good to work with, they would book her IIRC, Priyanka even said in one interview that she briefly considering fibbing and saying she was already in LA or Vegas and then just paying to fly herself for the exposure. I may be misremembering, and she could have been exaggerating, but if you can afford to do that for certain opportunities, it can be worth it.
I think she even offered to fill in if someone else bailed on production at the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this last minute and that’s why they called her Gurl, this is what vivacious said on her chat. She said drag will give everyone access to the same contacts and opportunities, irrespective of your placement on the show, but you need to have a plan and a brand ready. And your brand cannot be a color scheme or a meme. If you think people will call you for bookings just coz you’ve been on the show, you’ll keep waiting forever. You need to approach people with a very clear plan of what you can offer. It can be a comedy show, entertaining lipsyncs or a web show. But you need to come up with it or at least show the people that you’ll be a good choice for such an opportunity. Like Sasha used the platform to come up with nightgowns and an investor liked it and helped her. Jinx, dela and Bianca written entire comedy routines for their tours. They didn’t wait for someone to come and offer them a comedy tour. Like Vivacious and Nina Flowers are DJs and used their newfound contacts to show people their music and get gigs. Kahanna impressed the vegas show team and got a job there.
On the Peppermint Mocha Propofol Christmas Nurse Er Ed Icu Rn Scrub Toddler Shirt But I will love this other hand, Nina bonina and trinity, in spite of being very well received on their seasons just waited for the opportunities to come their way and kept sulking. I was going to say something similar. There are a few queens, and many people in general, who think you sit around and wait for cold invites for work. That’s just not how it works for even huge, huge stars. Agents wouldn’t exist if that were the case. Yeah but at the same time you know Trixie and Brittany were probably just talking one day where Trixie said she’s doing the pit stop again and Brittany probably made an offhand comment about wanting to be a guest for it Slightly different, but it’s amazing how many guests on Maddy’s Give It To Me Straight are people who commented publicly saying they’d love to be on the show. That’s what it takes— be up front about wanting to be on the show and ask, Mary
