It’s not free. The question should be rephrased to “Why are some Americans concerned about buying things for some at the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this expense of others?” They have been infected by corpo propaganda. The way election donations work allow insurance companies, medical supply companies, pharmaceutical companies, etc. to fund candidates that represent them more than the normal people in their district. It’s not free, you’re taxed for it. The way taxes are setup in the US, ends up screwing over middle class/ lower high class people. The people who overwhelmingly going to use the free medicine are very poor people, so the American people don’t want to pay for them. Also the medical doctors and dentists want their labor to be scarce, they want to be rich, because being a doctor or dentist is artificially difficult to achieve in the US, on all fronts. This leads to good medicine but also a total lack of widespread availability. This way the American Medical Association gets to keep their, and their members labor, very expensive. This is why residency spots are very few, too. If the US stopped supporting Europe and ensuring a global order that protected the west and directed the world’s capital to their markets, Sweden would be worse off than Russia. You’re an adult, you should know this off the top of your head already. Because way more taxes. Also, the country is so disproportionately obese, healthy individuals would be subsidizing them

Nothing is free, paying taxes to cover it does not make it free. When you have government making health choices, it does not end well. A penny pincher gets to say whether or not you get life saving treatment based on your viability to repay cost in taxes. Alfie Evans is an example where an accountant decides who gets to live. Some of us strongly fear the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this incompetent, crooked, wasteful, elite government’s ability to provide such. And that’s not a dig on any particular administration. They’re all equal in those regards. Fear? No. Understand that our government is horribly, horribly corrupt and such a program would only increase taxes and decrease the standard and availability of care? Yep. Look at the defense department. They’ve failed five independent audits in a row. They can’t account for billions of dollars. That’s what govt healthcare would look like.
Everything the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this government touches it fucks up. Just look at higher education. Universally available federal student loans have sent costs skyrocketing and quality of education plummeting. Meanwhile the colleges are all rolling in dough. The people i know have this opinion: “I don’t want people living off my taxes, and i don’t want to pay for someone else’s sex change.” I’m not saying this is everyone’s opinion, but the people in know don’t have an issue with the concept, just that social systems like that would be taken advantage of and they don’t want their money going into stuff they don’t believe in. And before you comment about that already happening, they know and would forgo taxes entirely if it didn’t mean jail time. Government is trash. Owned by corporate interests, not the interests of the governed. They aren’t to be trusted with something as important as healthcare.
How I can buy this Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt
Minimally regulated free market is far superior. The current state of US healthcare is nowhere near a free market, with many powerful regulation (that favor established corporate cartel). Because when anything is free the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this quality goes to hell and nobody values it anymore. When the government runs anything jt goes to shit. Look at public schools and public housing for examples. Even in countries when healthcare is “free” those who can afford it go to private doctors and private hospitals because they are better. That’s why The simple reason is there is no such thing as free in this world especially when it comes to any kind of service rendered in a money making occupation someone is paying for the medical service if not you then every one else through the money the government takes from you and them the money for your medical fees has to come from some where so if it’s “free” health care, then governmental taxes go up to pay for it Lol Sweden is roughly the size of Los Angeles. One U.S. city. That gives you some idea of the scale of how much it would take to cover the entire nation with “free” healthcare.
Secondly, an enormous number of the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this population is obese, suffers from mental illness, or both. Sweden has a much healthier populous. It’s beyond your comprehension how expensive providing healthcare for a massive nation full of fucked up people I think some people as listed in top comment fear socialism, but in my experience, people compare ‘cheap’ or ‘free’ to shitty quality. “If I understand the definition, it’s basically that you have everything you need, for free, paid for by taxes.” Clearly you don’t understand much AND you haven’t PAID very much in taxes. Paid for by taxes doesn’t = free. It never will. Ever. AND the “government” has never done ONE thing successfully. Ever. There’s no evidence to support a claim that “free” healthcare from the government would work on any level. Use medicare, the VA, prisons, as an example. They’re the worst. Look up canada’s MAID law and then find out that THEIR government solution to most medical problems is :”kill yourself” No Thanks. I loathe that government spends all collected taxes for their latest pet project before the care you let them raise taxes for.
Many worry that they will have their taxes go to pay for things they “disagree” with — abortions, gender affirming treatments/surgery, etc. Also, as a society, so much of our health problems are a result of our poor diets and lack of exercise that there is certainly a lot of “I take care of my body, I shouldn’t have to pay to cure some fat slob” mentality. Meanwhile, the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this medical insurance companies both 1) employ huge forces of people whose job it is to routinely deny approval for preventative care, and 2) make zillions in profit each year because the premiums they collect FAR exceed their payouts. I fear “free” healthcare because the bill to set it up will be written by big pharma lobbyists and they will just pass the bloat on to the taxpayers. I don’t trust the politicians to do it right and not fuck us over. Look how much we’ve “saved” by socializing the military.
Also healthcare is one of the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this few places big companies are still making meaningful contributions towards their employees well being. They would love to weasel out of this and offshore that expense to taxpayers. There’s a reason the Koch brothers are pro universal health care… I simply want to make my own decisions free of the governemnt in as many areas as possible. If our leftists want a big governemnt run healthcare system let them build it. Then let me check a box somewhere that allows me to opt out and not pay any of my taxes to it. I’ll handle my own and will take responsibility for myself. You know, like an adult should. 519 more repliesBc I don’t mind paying my deductible and knowing I get in when I need to, I prefer my own dr, and I don’t have to pay for anyones healthcare but my own and my kids. They say the care you receive from free healthcare is terrible on top of that wait times to see anyone are ridiculous.
I’ve asked a few people this irl, and they all said they were worried about lessening military spending and they don’t want to pay for someone else’s care that may not deserve it (as if it would be a tragedy to pay for someone’s kid’s heart surgery, or someone’s cancer treatment if they couldn’t afford it bc they were homeless). the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this looks on their faces when i point out that other people would technically be paying for their care as well always cracks me up bc they didn’t think of that. The argument against universal healthcare is how expensive it would be to implement. The entrenched insurance industry is a major obstacle. Because most Americans know nothing is free. There’s always a catch to it. The free healthcare Europe enjoys is often based on a population and economic system that is drastically different from the United States. If it was done here, we would have to ration care. That’s the only way we can afford to supply everyone the things they need. Now I’m not saying there isn’t things that we can’t do. And I also think it’s very clear that people in America can get health care. At least as far as the basic needs you get in Europe. It’s when you get to specialized care that things become very expensive and difficult. But without that expense, you wouldn’t have this grand push to develop new medications and treatments to treat diseases that were considered incurable years ago.
It has nothing to do with socialism coming to America. It’s all about Americans zealously protecting the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this healthcare that they have. And I’ve seen it from the disabled population who rely on health care terrified that their needs are going to be rationed away in order to cover the basic needs of someone who’s more healthy. You get more bang for your buck that way. And I’ve seen it from The side of the young and healthy who really only care about health care if they have an accident. Catastrophic situations. They’re tough they can handle everything else. Or so they say. Because they’re greedy and don’t want “their” taxes funding “your” recovery. They’d rather be in medical debt the rest of their lives than pay for someone else’s broken leg repair
most of our politicians are bribed by the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this pharmaceutical and healthcare industry lobbyists to suppress any universal healthcare in this country Hot take: many are afraid that it will lead to a lower quality healthcare than what’s currently available because there already is a shortage of nurses and doctors. And an overabundance of unhealthy individuals with poor eating/fitness habits. It’s a misunderstanding of how market forces work. Conservatives are taught conservative economics which is actually a good thing, but they are not actually learning real economics. Basic economics teaches that market forces do a better job of distributing goods and services than governments do. And for the most part this is true. It’s one of the reasons places with free markets are so prosperous. This all can be demonstrated mathematically. However there are caveats. Some services are more efficient when paid for and distributed collectively. It’s not socialism, it’s actually an aspect of capitalism. In economics these are public goods. Military, fire, police etc etc are all public services. If we tried to pay for these in a market based economy you would see extremely inflated prices and some would go without. The flow of utility clearly demonstrates that there services are more efficiently distributed by being public.
Conservatives understand that market forces are responsible for a healthy economy, but because they also understand that socialism would destroy that prosperity, they tend to fear anything that looks like socialism. Healthcare by nature of is pre akin to defense like the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this military when you analyze how it works (Low incidence High consequence risk). It should be classified as a public service just like the military is. An indication that something is terribly wrong with the market is soaring prices. Thats what we see in the American Healthcare system. It’s because it is an mis classified service. The irony is that we do pay for it publicly anyway through insurance. It’s just now there is a middle man and the market is screwed and will not distribute properly.
Further Irony is that conservative economics clearly places healthcare in what should be public goods, but now the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this medical associations enjoy monopolistic powers, and the insurance companies can lobby to maintain their position as a middle man that shouldn’t exist. I wish law makers would wake up and consult real economists when they make decisions and not just pull party ideology. The republicans have it wrong on this one but it is for the right reasons, they just don’t understand economics enough. The democrats are just as bad though. They have it right but for the wrong reasons. It shouldn’t be a feel good welfare type reason. The math is clear in economics. Healthcare should be a public good, and the evidence is in other countries as like mentioned it is simple and inexpensive for them. In the US a bad disease can wipe you out. You get sick, you can’t work, your healthcare is tied to your job, so you loose it. You can go from being well off to being practically homeless in an instant. This isn’t right and it’s not safe for Americans to live this way. It’s disastrously poor economics.
Because the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this poor ,racist, Dumb Republicans, are completely fooled by the the Racist,Rich White ones. Clearly, NOT everyone that is White, Not everyone that is Rich, Nor everyone that is Rich, White and Republican? Are Racist. Let’s get the obvious, bullshit unnecessary caveat our there tho. Because if it’s not expressly said? That’s the first thing people cling to. No, You are Not a Racist simply because you are White Or because you are White and Republican, or because you are Rich, and or White and or Republican. Trump and his blatant, unapologetic Racism,Sexism And disregard for women and non rich white people Are manifestations of the infamous yet hidden, Rarely talked about Lyndon B Johnson..and I quote..
” If you can convince the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this lowest white person? That he is Always above the highest black person? And he won’t Notice your picking his pockets. Hell, give him Someone to look down on? And he will empty his pockets for you.”. Isn’t Trump on record saying…” I Love the poorly Educated” ?? Are his cult- fans not footing his legal bills? Emptying Their pockets? Happily? While being LIED to? Pretending to be both a victim and…just like them? Lyndon B called It, dead azz accurate. Aren’t they Ignoring alll the charges? Ignoring The facts of the cases? The evidence? Ignoring that 99% of the damaging Testimony and charges Accusations? Made Against him? Are coming from lifelong Republicans themselves? Many of whom have fundraised, voted Republican their entire lives? Voted for Trump? Both times? Worked for him? But Trump plays that racist blame game..Migrants, The scary migrant caravan they trot out every Election They are dirtying our blood? Hitler quote. Didn’t they just reject a bill to address the border? They claimed they wanted? But Trump said No, we need it to run on. Even though,,? Border Patrol Union themselves? Love the bill and endorsed it?
So No, they Don’t want Universal Healthcare, one of Many reasons , would be that it benefits Allllll Americans, and they Never want anymore non white people to be Americans….how much clearer do they have to be? More non white immigrants will mean fewer and fewer Republicans. They will Never win another Election Which is why they are resorting to stealing them, Lying about them being stolen. Instead of..just coming up with Policies the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this American people want? Well, you Can’t do that when you have a Staunchly Racist view on who is? Isn’t Americans in The first place? Your not capable of creating policies for everyone, when your intent is to exclude mostly everyone anyway. Why does everyone in America that’s Not Brown keep pretending they don’t know this shit? Americans view free healthcare as ‘I will pay more for layabouts to get loads of free treatment’ It makes me laugh when Americans make a big thing of how much better paid medical staff are over there, yes because your medical system is a money maker and ours is a countrywide expenditure
I don’t fear it. I fear that the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this government will take our tax money, line their pockets with the bulk while simultaneously letting the citizens rot in sub-par hospital conditions and months long wait lists to get seen at all. The government doesn’t exactly have a stellar track record for financial management. Because someone might get free healthcare that they didn’t work hard enough to earn and that really grinds their damn gears. Given your restless leg syndrome and history of struggling with employment, we strongly urge you to pursue our wonderful MAID program that we believe would suit you perfectly. They’re not scared that they’ll get free healthcare, but that they’d rather not have it if someone else will get it too.
Most fear they will be the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this ones who have to pay even more money towards healthcare (through taxes) when they dont have excess money already. Flip side plenty of Americans do get healthcare either from the government or from their employer so there is not that big of incentive for them either to change things. Additionally just as an example every time you go to the store you are paying roughly 20% additional than I pay in sales tax. Thats on top of higher income tax which is another 20% there as well. Lots more money is leaving your pocket. The you need to account for your healthcare system supporting essentially Michigan only (10m roughly population). I think a lot of people who have health insurance and have needed to use it and gotten treatment when they needed it are afraid that they’ll lose access to prompt and quality care. Mostly from propaganda and what not, but when I’ve talked to people who don’t support single payer that’s what ends up coming out. There are people who make a lot of money with the current system. They stand to lose that gravy train if things change so they lobby hard to prevent it from happenning. They fear that they will have to give up their private insurance. They expect their private insurance to pay for all care and at no delay because they see stories about waitlists for non emergent surgeries in Canada or limited dialysis for older people in the UK or physician assisted suicide/euthanasia in parts of Europe. So they think their freedom will be taken away with single payer healthcare. They do not realize the freedom that comes with paying taxes and never having to worry about healthcare costs or debts again. Because it’s not free, it’s paid for by raising your taxes a fuck ton. On top of it, have fun being on the waiting list.
To everyone saying “it’s not free”: the Paul Di’Anno 66 Years 1958 2024 signature thank you for the memories Shirt so you should to go to store and get this fire department isn’t free either, yet nobody advocates for firemen charging money to put out a fire. Why is that? So they pay for private insurance which covers other people and pays for the overhead and profit of an insurance company, and let’s their taxes subsidize a privately run hospital. People tend to think that it is due to the fear of socialism or communism. My take is slightly different, it is something I can see even in places where there is free healthcare: People value their worth in comparison to others, therefore if suddenly all the people who are “beneath” you get something you “lose” that competitive advantage and get closer to the poor.
