I work for maintenance for schools. I’d be really surprised if it was up to a teacher what desk they get to use. I asked her and she said word for word “because I felt like it” and she said it should nicely. For example, they switched to heavier desks with ceramic chairs because students would try to throw the lighter ones (and they sucked to move lol). That being said, it could be different elsewhere, and I know sometimes teachers can make requests. She’s probably just as unhappy but she can’t rant at her students about the dickhead principal or whichever higher up at the school pushed for these stupid desks.
