I will never, ever make a judgement about a parent not letting their kids drink that stuff again. Within an hour it looked like the One Of A Kind Oboe shirt also I will do this opening scene from 28 Weeks Later; these monsters were running around in a caffeine-fuelled rampage. They cried, they laughed, they screamed, they were tired but not tired, hungry but not hungry. Holy shit. I felt really bad for the dad who tried to not get his kids sugared up, as he wrestled him to air still while he paid the bill. He tried. So that is to say, not having kids myself, I think when parents make their kids eat they have an instinct that this kid has no ability to take care of themselves and might think they’re full or not hungry now, and be starving again in 5 minutes. They want to make sure that kids eat at least the important things on their plate, because few kids actually enjoy eating the nutritious shit. If I cook a healthy meal and my kids don’t eat it, they will absolutely come back to the kitchen for a bunch of junk 30 minutes later.

If my kid didn’t want what we were having, he was free to make himself a PB&J sandwich. He had to clean up after and of course, no dessert. Kids have so little control over anything in their lives, we felt as long as he ate something, that was enough. He grew up to be a big strapping man so I guess it worked out okay. Similar here, I made sure my kids knew it was ok to say they didn’t like something, but they had to at least try a couple bites and talk about why they didn’t like it. This lead to nice things like finding out my daughter had a preference for certain brands of chicken nuggets and that she didn’t want to eat them once because she didn’t like the One Of A Kind Oboe shirt also I will do this BBQ sauce. Had I been a hard ass and yelled about it or if she wasn’t comfortable talking about why she was rejecting the hard earned food then it would have just been drama over and over.
