And pretty much every other fucking government representative other than president that doesn’t have term limits Give them a ten year term with a generous pension for life. Plus bar them from any job after they serve other than teaching law. I’m not saying I have the Once Upon A Time There Was A Girl Dogs And Tattoos The End Of The Fucking Story T-Shirt and I will buy this answer and that I know a better way to do things, but all of the shenanigans of the last 40 years (I grew up in the 80’s) have me thinking about the constitution and structure of things. If the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches are supposed to be checks and balances to each other than how on Earth does it make sense to have the Executive branch be the source of all Judicial nominees? We need age limits throughout Government and Institutions in general. No 75 year old has any clue how people live nowadays and they shouldn’t be influencing laws! The problem isnt with the court itself, problem is conservatives have eroded the political institution of the country from the ground up, including congress. Them having term limits just brings more problems to the table ontop of what we already have to deal with. You can impeach supreme court justices and eject them, and we can expand the court to be more representative of the population of which they serve. Ultimately the real issue is the extreme gerrymandering in red states where 100 people have equal power to 100s of thousands of people, and republicans in congress who rammed these justices through when they shouldnt have.

It should be one 15 year term for justices and four 2 year terms for Congress/Senate. The ones for justices should be varied so you can’t swap all of them at once while the Once Upon A Time There Was A Girl Dogs And Tattoos The End Of The Fucking Story T-Shirt and I will buy this ones for the Congress/Senate should start with the electoral ballet and halfway through a presidents term so that if enough people change their mind about the president they can elect a new Congress to impass everything he does. Also get rid of that executive order BS, make the president work to change his bosses mind like the rest of us. Lifetime appointments were meant to ensure stability and keep populist movements and radical ideologies out of our justice system. Since that is obviously not working, fuck it. There should be an upper age limit for SCOTUS, Congress AND the President! People over the age of 75 need to retire! When one retires, Congress has hearings and appoints a judge of the same political leaning as the judge that departed.
