yeah some dudes love the Okc Baseball Club Champion shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this idea of “breaking” a girl like they’re somehow putting her in her place and making her subservient (when really they’re just an asshole who’s making her pissed off and sad) This. Control and ownership. They want the beauty of her, but to own it, no one else can ‘have’ or witness the beauty unless the male says so. I read elsewhere that it’s probably a subconscious failure to understand that women aren’t always dressing to attract men. So when these guys are single, they’re guiltlessly attracted to women who dress sexy, but don’t want their partners to do so because it feels like they’re still trying to gain the attention of men. That’s mostly speculative though, so take it with a grain of salt. But the root logic is the same with the other comments pointing to insecurity; “I don’t want my gf broadcasting her attractiveness because I feel as though I will be forced to compete for her attention”. I don’t necessarily agree with controlling what your partner wears, but I can at least empathize with that root insecurity.

Yep. To some men sexy attire on a woman says, “Open for Business.” When he met her, he was okay with her being available because she was available to him. Now that he has her, he wants her to take down the Okc Baseball Club Champion shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this “open” sign. There is an insecure logic to it. If the woman doesn’t see dressing provocatively as an open for business sign, she will just think he is being overly controlling. I think there’s a lot of nuance to it, and there’s no consensus opinion among women. A lot of women just don’t conceive of dressing sexy as having anything to do with wanting attention from anyone. IMO it’s definitely not that simple because humans are social animals and the way we dress has always been about expressing who we are, gaining respect and attracting mates, among other things. So the “we don’t do it for you” argument doesn’t hold a lot of water IMO – attracting people is absolutely a part of how people dress. But it’s just one of many reasons. Also some women definitely do see dressing sexy as “open for business”, i.e. seeking attention from people, wanting to feel desired. And even if they are in a monogamous relationship, they might see that kind of attention seeking as harmless, a behavior they think is fine even in a relationship. Or they might see it as not appropriate to a relationship, but still feel conflicted between wanting to be with a specific person vs wanting to keep that independence and keep receiving attention for their looks. This is especially common with young women in my experience.
