So you want to get rid of the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this few politicians that actually need their job to support themselves? All your idea would do is ensure that no middle class people can ever get into politics. On net your tax bill goes up but your health insurance bill goes away (assuming we’re just talking about socializing medicine entirely) which is a net positive to your cash flow. I was gonna say, I already pay taxes that go to mental health treatment in my county, and I’ve utilized the services in the past. (They were not good, but that’s the fault of the actual facility, not the program.) Mental health isn’t going far enough, hospitals need to throw out their cash registers and then we’ll be having a conversation.
Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt description
Tbf the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this program is at fault when a facility isn’t properly functioning since programs can produce policy that creates deterrents for those problems in the first place. If they aren’t properly taxing to fund those deterrents then that’s a fault of the program for scaling without finances imo Most likely, the total in extra taxes for universal health care in general will be LESS than what you’re paying for health care right now (ie. insurance and general health care costs such as co-pay or deductible). Within reason. You raise my tax rate 1-2% and we somehow guarantee everyone can get free counseling in a timely way? I’m all for it. You raise my tax rate 10%, and I’m going to be suicidal because I can’t afford food anymore, and I don’t think counseling is going to help with that. I’m not sure the numbers would work out, but I’d even wonder if early intervention in things like depression and addiction might end up saving money in the long term for the country as a whole (more people able to keep in employment and less likely to harm themselves)
When you hear about how abused people growing up to abuse people, aka the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this cycle of abuse or generational abuse, it’s kind of mind blowing that you wouldn’t want to do something to prevent it. Say you have one priest that was abused, and he goes on to abuse 25 kids. If you could’ve gotten him help or prevented him from being abused to start with, you could potentially save 25 kids from abuse. How much suffering did you just prevent? That’s just from helping one person. What does your society look like in a few generations if you start preventing this stuff? When you run into 10 people in a day and they are all miserable fucks, what does that do your own mental health compared to running into 10 happy people. People want to pretend that if they have their lives together that it’s not their problem but it’s a giant feedback loop. The best thing you could do as a society is try to fix it.
Let buy this Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt
We already pay more $ per capita in taxes that go towards healthcare than do Brits, Canucks, Japanese, Germans or French. Then we idiotically add private premiums, deductibles and copays on top of that. A switch to a proper, single payer system that includes universal mental health coverage could be accompanied by a LOWERING of the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this taxes paid for it. No. We already pay more than any other country for healthcare. They should find existing money to use for this. I have repeatedly increased my taxes for education and the schools keep operating under a tighter and tighter budget, yet the police keep getting new unmaked cars. The ACA put a 10% tax on the stock market. That’s a shit ton of money. It goes directly to insurance companies and health care still sucks. Maybe we need to spend this money on real health care before taking more money. No. I’m not ‘willing’ to pay the level of tax I am now. I only pay it because I’m even less willing to go to jail. On paper it would be cheaper than the current system for most people. The issue now is that already health care is expensive for fairly arbitrary reasons. From this article from Pubmed central: “Taking into account both the costs of coverage expansion as well as savings that would be achieved through the MAA, we calculate that a single-payer, universal healthcare system is likely to lead to a 13% savings in national healthcare expenditure, equivalent to over $450 billion annually.” The argument that it would cost more for people is already poisoning the well. I will say something unpopular. I would be willing to pay extra taxes for this if I knew it would be used properly, which I know won’t ever happen. If taxes are increased for this, some years later it will be found out that it was stolen by politicians, they will be accused of this, other politicians will pardon them for political reasons, and in the end the only consequence will be that even more money was stolen from the people and given to some privileged group in society.
So no, in the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this current circumstances I’m not willing to pay increased taxes for anything, as most of the taxes I pay are going to the wrong pockets. I heard a Harvard economist had run the numbers and that Universal Healthcare would save each taxpayer $3,000 a year. I read the article years ago, so I may have the finer details wrong. The gist was that since chronic illnesses could be treated proactively, then we could avoid repeat hospital stays where the patient has no funds, so the cost gets transferred to patients who can pay. No. They can’t take care of anything with our tax dollars as it is. Why would I give them more. Our debt to GDP is at 123%. That’d be like giving a gambling addict more money when they’ve never won. No. The government already gets plenty in taxes, the problem is they squander it. Rather than adding new taxes, we need to reassess how we spend those tax dollars.
The amount spent annually on the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this military doesn’t come close to a universal health system, and I doubt people would want to get rid of the military entirely. Fuck that noise. Most taxpayers already provide about half our earnings to government through state income tax, federal income tax, vehicle registration and purchasing tax, some have energy taxes, some have taxes for owning certain items, some have taxes for conducting certain businesses, businesses pay a payroll tax simply for having employees, estate tax, property tax, gross receipts tax, social security, sales tax….we have fucking taxes to breath air at this point. Stop coming for everyone else’s coin. Look at the congress and presidencies which spent 33 trillion on………what? Your grand plan is to increase the tax rates and use even more money to waste? Can any of you even explain what the federal funds rate is? Taxation without representation very much exists in America, today, while we all look around at this Polycrisis while having every financial capability to solve them already at our disposal.
32 out of the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this 33 1st world countries have universal healthcare. The US is the only one that continually says it’s impossible to make it work. Yet all the other counties did just fine. Nope. I’ve seen first hand how the VA handles mental health care for veterans. Yes it’s gotten better over the last 20 years but it’s still atrocious. One of the biggest explanations I received from multiple administrators at a few different clinics, 2 of them being regional facilities was a lack of funding and/or inadequate budgets. Proving that is relatively easy as even to this day many VA facilities cannot run without non-medical volunteers and I’ve seen a clinic close twice due to lack of staffing. This was long before COVID and so it couldn’t be blamed for a lack of staffing.
So if the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this government can’t manage to operate the above, why would anyone think they could do it for the whole country? As a mental health professional, hell no! Reason being, neither the government or insurance should have any say in the selection, process, or methods of what a client can or can’t choose for themselves. Insurance has a wonderful way of limiting the client/consumer on their options and mental health is not medicine. You can’t just hand someone an antibiotic for one of a hundred different bacterial infections. Universal loves to make a one-size-fits-all of their process. Strangely countries with universal health care spend LESS per person for BETTER outcomes. If all of what you pay now for health insurance where moved into your taxes instead it would be more than enough to cover the cost of universal health care. You should actually get an increase to your disposable income every month. No, I pay enough in taxes already. They can’t even responsibly use my tax money to begin with. I don’t want to pay them more money for them to misuse.
Not to be the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this neo liberal but if we cut our military budget, it’ll be harder to toss our weight around in countries that we get imports from on the cheap. Our country’s influence in commerce gives us the winning position in much of what we touch, so cutting the military budget could lead to unforeseen consequences down the road. Not saying it’s bad to suggest cutting the military budget, but it’s possible that the budget we have is benefitting us in other ways that we ought to consider. How much money? What type of universal mental health care? Just saying “universal mental health care” does not solve the mental health crisis. That might work for other medical care just fine, but many people with mental health issues don’t want treatment or there simply might not be a “good treatment.” Sure if you’re manic or suicidal maybe we can throw you in a padded room or drug you until you can’t feel feelings anymore. Mental healthcare used to be a lot more expansive, we intentionally defunded it and made it much much worse because it was too fucking inhumane to forcibly turn people into walking zombies to cure their illness. They tax us for enough. We don’t need to tax more, just stop spending so much on wars (Israel and Ukraine) and put it back into our home country.
The math has been done. Taxes don’t need to increase, we just need the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this wealthy class to pay their share rather than hiding their wealth in LLCs. We would actually pay LESS taxes towards healthcare with universal healthcare than we do now. Seriously, look it up. Americans pay more in taxes for healthcare than most countries that have universal healthcare, and in exchange for those taxes we get… No health care. The money is already available. There is no need to raise taxes. Just move the money around. Every dept decrease budget 5% I can’t trust government to properly allocate funds. Every year we see our taxes go up and see less return on them. Between corruption, waste and mismanagement our governments have proven to not be fiscally responsible.
As part of universal healthcare, yes. But, it should also result in my not having to pay for health insurance so should mostly be a wash. How about full comprehensive healthcare with no separation between medical and dental care, and mental health included too. That’s a false requirement. The money is there. There are even more ways to get money that don’t involve taxing most civilians. Our tax dollars are VERY improperly spent and billionaires aren’t paying their share. We should have universal health care and that would still be cheaper than the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this shitty system we currently have. The current medical insurance setup is made to generate wealth and transfer it from those that can’t afford it to those who just want more to hoard.
Brother, I already pay $50 a week for health insurance that doesn’t cover mental health at all. If that cost was eliminated, universal healthcare could increase taxes by a full 7% and I literally wouldn’t notice. Regular people don’t need to pay more taxes for anything, it’s the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this elites that do. Also, defund the military industrial complex. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that paying taxes to fund Healthcare would likely be less than what is getting taken out for your health insurance (if you have it) Absolutely. If you seek mental health care, it’s going to break your bank. Most insurance plans I’ve seen cover maybe 2 to 5 therapy sessions a year. Wtf are you going to accomplish in that time? Everything after that is on you, so essentially, you don’t get it. But we shouldn’t stop with just universal mental health care.
If we went to a single payer, universal health care system, almost everyone would be paying less in taxes for their health care than what they currently pay for their health insurance (monthly premiums, co-pays, deductibles, and any other share of the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this cost they stick you with). Additionally, the quality of care in almost every developed nation with universal Healthcare is better than the shit we get in the US. As long as the taxes don’t exceed what I already pay to an employer for my own premiums (which studies indicate it normally doesn’t), then it is a no brainer. And even if it is close then I probably don’t have an issue because there is a large social benefit to a healthy population. So if myself and others have health coverage and my take home pay is more…why would I complain?
We already spend tax money to teach children how to read, write, do math, how to be athletic. We should also spend money to teach people who to regular their emotions and understand their thoughts and motivations. I’m willing to have the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this top 5% who can afford to pay increased taxes to support universal health care, yes no question. No. We pay plenty of taxes already. Enough even to cover universal health care, including mental health care. What we need to do is stop allowing billionaires and millionaires to hoard their money in loopholes, and make them pay an equal share of taxes. Sure, right after I get that universal health care. Mental health services would be cool, regular medical services would be so much more fuckin useful though.
Yes, but only if it meant an end to insurance. Our healthcare is very expensive compared to countries with universal healthcare, so the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this trade off makes sense. But I know the asinine greedy people who run this country, they’d try to (yet again) turn it into an “and” situation, rather than the “instead of” situation it should be. Yes, but only if it meant an end to insurance. Our healthcare is very expensive compared to countries with universal healthcare Most countries with universal healthcare tend to have private health insurance, which I’ve noticed many Americans tend to gloss over, as someone who has relied on universal healthcare. The difference is that insurance may cover less (as the govt covers most of it) and you pay less for insurance.
The American Medicare for All proposal definitely stands out in this regard, with its proposed elimination of private health insurance. Im willing to have super rich people and corporations pay increased taxes to support the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this implementation of universal mental health care. No, but I do support the government using our current tax dollars in a more efficient and less wasteful manner than they are currently…lol jk, that will never happen. Yes, and I feel that way about my taxes generally. I wouldn’t mind paying high taxes across the board if the money was being used to better people’s lives. Honestly, no. I live in Russia, and I know perfectly well that if our state does something like this it will either use “psychologists” for propaganda or will just steal all the funds. I am 100% for universal healthcare in the United States in all forms. Accident and disease, cancer, natal, mental, dental, optical, and everything else. The price would be paid gladly if I knew every child can go to a doctor if they need to when they need to. Yes, provided we also stop separating healthcare into nonsense subgroups. Mental health, dental, vision, prescriptions, these are ALL healthcare and its ridiculous that we allow them to tell us they shouldnt all be covered. Yes, but. Only if we tax corporations and the wealthy the same rate. And build a few less machines of war and prioritize education over prison and military spending. So, short answer, no.
Aren’t we already? Isn’t that what Medicaid is? Or just specifically for mental health services? Why separate mental health from physical health? They go hand in hand. Are we including addiction services within the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this mental health sphere? We are going to need physical health services for those suffering from addiction….. Sorry for the pesky questions. Absolutely NOT!!! I bust my blue collar ass for every single penny I earn and for every benefit that I earn (including health insurance). If anyone wants health insurance and doesn’t currently have it….change jobs and find one that does offer it. Hell no. Not that I dislike mental health, but I know for certain the money would be spent wrong, and most people who pay into it probably wouldn’t qualify for the benefit. Yes. There would be an immediate savings in homeless services, public safety, an increase in productivity in the workforce, it would all make a tremendous amount of fiscal sense.
It’s always funny that people go straight to “would YOU be willing to pay more in taxes?” Dude, we already pay more for healthcare than the Ohio State Buckeyes vs Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling February 14th 2025 Mascot Shirt What’s more,I will buy this rest of the OECD, the money just goes to private insurance instead of HHS. No.. I would like to see my taxes reallocated to causes I care about. Like universal health care. They take plenty of my money. Use it for me. I’m willing to reallocate the pork for corporations that have been chewing on my damn money for things my family needs, yes. I know the question is about mental health care, but I’ve never fully understood why people would be upset about a raise in taxes for this in general. The family plan that we have that is through my husband’s employer costs a few hundred dollars a month, taken right out of his paycheck. Never sees that money. But if we go to the doctor, we DO see the money we spend on copays, coinsurance, deductibles, etc. Under universal health care, that same money we spend on a health plan would just be taken out in the form of taxes, but when we go to the doctor, the cost would be nothing. How is that not better?
