Description

When I started writing the Official Rip Dmx Shirt it is in the first place but book, I was coming out of a period of intense depression. I really needed to grapple with questions I had been carrying my whole life. But the seeds of that impulse were planted by my father, when he would call me into his office and we would write stories together. He instilled in me the idea that the act of self-interrogation is something you can turn to in times of uncertainty. The idea that I could write my way out of a difficult period of my life is something that he shared with me and a practice that he had. In some ways, I was trying to write my way back to the main lessons that he instilled in me.
