I’m on antipsychotics due to schizophrenia and it really helps. I can’t meditate at all when off meds. It is no different from someone who has diabetis or someone who needs to take endocrinological medication because their thyroid does not function as it should. Just keep up with your meditation practice along with your therapy (it may be useful to talk about this topic, which is bothering you, with your shrink) and everything will be ok. Please never, ever, stop taking your meds on your own. It could be dangerous for you and your loved ones. Any doubts should be talked about in therapy, including medication doubts. Mine is a mixed bag as I feel like a robot when I’m on my depression meds but when I’m off them I can’t do anything. So they help get me out of bed and meditating allows me to access to emotions I didn’t even know were there. So they were helpful to me. Maybe you need some time to adjust to the meds? I feel stuck in a shallow state. I wonder if the antidepressants are interfering with my meditation and consciousness.
