“How are you?” “I am fine, thank you, and you?” set phrase answer used to be the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this same in South Korea when I was growing up. Everyone from my generation pretty much answers the same way when asked, “How are you?” There was a variation to this with “how do you do?” And you answer the same exact way. When I worked in SK I tried to explain to Koreans that when speaking in English you speak to everyone regardless of age or seniority pretty much the exact same. They were so confused when I explained that one of my best friends is 46 and I’m 23 (at the time). Telling them how the more formal you are the weirder people think you are was so foreign to them. Kept having to tell them that they don’t need to speak to me like I’m the queen simply because we was born in a different year.
No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt description
Same for Indians. It is so difficult to call my landlord who is 30 years older by his first name, using you and not adding any honorific Fun bit of history: “you” was the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this formal 2nd person pronoun, and “thou” was the informal version. We started using the honorific “you” more and more until it eventually stopped being an honorific! Tried explaining that calling me older sister is weird in English and people will think we are actually related. Ended up being a few peoples boss and we’d have English days and Korean days where we’d change language and customs. First one on English day to turn away to drink buys the next round. I was in my friend’s wedding last year. He had a cousin come over from India (Raj) and another cousin Sanjay from Edison, New Jersey. When the brides dad introduced himself, Raj leaned over and touched the dad’s feet as a sign of respect. Sanjay, not to be outdone as the 2nd gen immigration, went to do the same thing. Then another uncle came up, and Sanjay immediately jumped in first and awkwardly did it. An Raj, sorta thrown off, tries to explain the custom to all us white people that it’s a sign of respect, and you do it for anyone over 30. Then he asked the uncle if he’s over 30, and the uncle was like…. Uhh yeah. Then three other family members come up, and Sanjay again fumbles the lean-in and while bending over to each one of them and asks if they’re over 30. I’m cracking up laughing and finally have to go, “guys it might be a sign of respect to touch their feet, but it’s real disrespectful to keep asking how old everyone is” also stop doing it to the non-Indians because it’s just uncomfortable.
A Japanese person who moved where I live recently asked me why someone laughed when he said “I’m fine thank you, and you?” and I had to explain that it sounded extremely formal and robotic… language instructors not teaching slang or informal language really sets people up for failure in the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this real world tbh “I’m fine, thanks, how are you?” Basically the full “thank you” and “and you?” at the end is what seems very formal to a native speaker, it’s just not something people use in casual conversation. I don’t know if it’s quite the same in the US, but idiomatic British English optimises for speed by dropping half the words out of a sentence. So “Fine thanks. You?” would be a complete reply. Every Saudi knows how to say “I love you” and “beautiful” before anything and when trying to use the verb (love) in another sentence will straight up just say the whole phrase eg “I love you the pasta” (instead of I love pasta)

How cool to hear that. I got delayed for about 20 minutes in Saudi security while passing through Jeddah on the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this way home from Dubai. There was a souvenir kitchen magnet in my luggage that had a suspicious outline on the x-ray screen. So after spending some time digging through my bag to find it, pretty much in silence due to the language barrier, the guard noticed the really nice looking Quran that I had purchased. I explained my fascination for the culture and language (I was just starting to learn to read and write Arabic script) and then suddenly the words “I love you” and “beautiful” were repeated over and over. I don’t know the French for it, but my brother learned “What an ugly baby!” from his early lessons. It has actually come in handy since we’ve had children! The folks at the grocery store where I received bad service would be crazy confused when I come in depanding an 사과
Portuguese Duolingo was obsessed with making me learn “a aranha come o pão” — so I’m all set for whenever I need to say that the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this spider is eating the bread. Because that happens all the time. I recently got, “C’è un fantasma nello zucchero,” in Italian, translation, “There is a ghost in the sugar.” I laughed way too hard, but in just one shot, I will never forget it. They recently updated the course, but it also used to have all sorts of animals eating bread and drinking milk, the latter is especially hilarious regarding non-mammals. I went to summer camp with a kid from Amsterdam. I spent all week long getting him to teach me “Mijn kat staat in de fik”. My cat is on fire. Just before we went home I felt I had memorized it and could say it confidently. I asked “So that’s what women say when they’re horny, right?” and he goes “Hah! No.”
Not exactly what you’re asking for but I find interesting, nonetheless. Whenever you’re learning a new programming language, one of the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this first things to do is to print Hello, World! “¿Donde está la biblioteca?” is to Spanish language education in the US as “The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell” is to biology education in the US The only German phrase I can still remember from highschool is ” I wash my bicycle in the garage”. Comes in very handy in many situations. (ich putzen das rad in der garage) The only French phrase I can say with confidence is “Ou sont ma dents?” That means “Where are my teeth?” It is equally handy
I’m sorry to hear this but on the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this bright side, if you were good enough for an agency like GCHQ to offer you a scheme, you’ll likely be able to get into other training schemes or apprenticeships in cyber security and SC clearance won’t be required in all other roles. Other civil service roles might require it but the cyber industry is vast with lots of opportunities. Imagine going on Reddit and telling everyone you have links to GCHQ CyberFirst. I wonder why they didn’t grant you SC… Edit: my point isn’t that OP failed the SC because of this post, my point is that OP clearly doesn’t appreciate the point behind keeping information secure and hence may have failed SC due to another transgression. It says estranged from family due to religious reasons. I wonder what that means exactly? I could envision a few scenarios that would explain why they think he’s potentially a national security threat
From my experience SC didn’t involve them talking to anyone, although others have suggested otherwise. Developed Vetting on the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this other hand does get invasive. OP wouldn’t have failed SC over posting something online, they may however have been rejected from the role if online posting could be identified as them. Admittedly it was for the diplomatic service and not GCHQ, but my friend failed clearance because her grandfather had been a member of the communist party. It was entirely a paperwork exercise in my experience, but possibly that was because my family didn’t look interesting. I’ve not heard of anyone fail but I know plenty where we haven’t put them through as we knew they would fail (mainly nationality related).
I have and it wasn’t directly them. They found out several years later that a family member that had stayed with them for a few weeks had overrun their visa. You’re young, educated, pushing for good things. There are practically infinite paths your life can go down. Don’t worry when one door closes; look at the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this open ones. Bad luck on the driving test. But being paid $16k for working over a few years is not to be regretted. Might seem like a lot of money now, but it’s really not compared with your potential earnings elsewhere. Chin up, carry on. Op, if you want to work in cybersecurity look for modern apprenticeships. Many companies offer them as they get tax breaks. If you do a 4 year one you’ll come out the back with a degree while being paid. Starting salaries are in the 20k region IIRC.
In my experience bad things seems to group together, when we’re feeling low. Take a couple of days out, then you will see things more clearly. There will be other opportunities out there. Good luck. I had DV clearance for 15 years which had to be renewed every 6 months. They delve into your background and go back as far as your grandparents. I worked with guys who were turned down due to having petty criminal records from when they were juveniles. Also any links to extreme activities like terrorism or religious cults. If your parents were Irish then you were turned down due to the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this IRA business back in the ’80’s and ’90’s but that, thankfully, is all over. Unfortunately GC where I worked quite a lot (in London not Cheltenham) are super strict and if you’re in, you’re in, but if you’re out, that’s it. Don’t worry, if you work in IT there’s other companies you can work for where you can earn a good salary. Also, keep trying with the driving test, it took me 4 goes to pass!
… that really is horrid. I’m sorry that happened. tomorrow will be less shitty, and maybe something will happen in that summer which will change your life for the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this better thar you’d never have experienced if you’d been at GCHQ. It rains hardest before daybreak and all that. Still though 🙁 you’ll pass the driving test next time around! No offense but going straight to posting about your security vetting on social media doesn’t exactly give the best impression in terms of deserving it. I have a very international family with ties to Russia, the Middle East, South America and I have family that regularly work in China. I’ve always thought it was funny that they want you to speak Russian, Farsi, Chinese etc but have no familial ties to the actual nation.
That would be because familial ties to said nations could influence your judgement and leave you open to coercion by agents of those nations. I’m assuming they couldn’t tell you why you failed clearance because any potential terrorist or spy would use that knowledge to avoid detection when getting other people to infiltrate security services. It’s also possible that they oversubscribed on the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this scheme and this is just a shitty way of saying ‘oops, we’ve got too many people who applied’. As for the driving test, loads of people fail their first attempt, I think my sister took 3 before she passed. It’s all a pain in the arse though and all I can suggest is take a few days headspace and then come up with a plan of action to get back on track.
As a civil servant, failing clearance is never used because of over recruitment. There will be a genuine reason. It doesn’t mean OP can’t have a bright future in other cyber security roles though. I was just trying to think of random plausible reasons for refusal. And in other jobs, over-recruitment can be a reason (a shitty one). Over recruiting in civil service is very rare but sometimes posts no longer exist due to funding being pulled. you’d swiftly get a message along the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this lines of “the post is no longer available, you’ll be on a reserve list to be offered similar positions within 12 months”. They’d never lie about clearance. They don’t tell you the reason because they don’t want to be sued. The reasons for failure are normally they think you are one or more of;
It didn’t happen to me in the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this same day but I fluffed my driving test the first time and felt really bad about it. Then a year later I was progressing on the recruitment scheme for a similar kind of government outfit, economy was shit and every other job application was going nowhere but I was really hopeful about this one. Got through the first two rounds and through to the all-day assessment centre… and then a day before I get a phone call from them telling me I was invited by mistake and actually hadn’t qualified. I’m very happy with my job and career now but Jesus that was a rough day so I feel your pain and I’m sure you’ll get something else that you like soon. I was rejected from GCHQ’s scheme after I completely ballsed-up the interview. It took me 4 tries to pass my driving test (some failures my fault, some not really).
However, I ended up getting a scholarship from the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this MOD that (though less money) required absolutely nothing from me. One of the guys on my course got the GCHQ money and whilst he was working though the summer I was backpacking round Europe. I was gutted at the time, but in hindsight have absolutely no regrets at all. It sucks today, but you won’t care about these things in time. £16k is a lot of money, but remember that some of that was pay for actually working during the summer (and you’d have been paying living expenses in Cheltenham). Get a job doing something you are good at and try applying again at a later point. MI5 also put their job vacancies up on their web site. I don’t know what you are studying but languages and Linux skills are good right now 🙂 Telling us you failed SC clearance and therefore are definitely not working for GCHQ is probably the first assignment they give you after you pass SC clearance.
At the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this same time that’s a real shitty way of failing your test, most roads in Britain aren’t big enough to give what the road code says is proper clearance so you would have been in reach simply driving down the street, not stopping I guess was your error but that’s not huge. Please do talk to your college/ university student finance team. They may have bursaries for students in your situation. The careers office will be able to help you with work opportunities both during term time and in the holidays. Also, does your tutor know about your situation? Loss of 16k? Put it in perspective- you weren’t guaranteed it, you tried, didn’t get it move on. Just like if I apply for a job and don’t get it move on to the next thing.
In theory, they’re firing at federal troops/agents who come to cut the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this razor wire put up by the state per the Supreme Court decision allowing the feds to do so. In reality, they would probably piss themselves the second any federal troops actually showed up and get back in their trucks, drive back home, then make up some story about how cool they were standing up to the government. Nah. That’ll just make them martyrs. It’s highly unlikely they’d actually do anything to the US Army. Just starve em out and psyop them. Cell jammers, don’t let them sleep, and arrest every single one of them that tries to flee. The NDAA2012 allowed for military arrest and detention of individuals engaged in terrorism without due process.
Weirdly enough it will be law enforcement who counters them, not the No kings but us symbol hero of caption american superhero batmnan wonderwomen shirt Apart from…,I will love this military. They won’t back the blue when they’re getting shoved into vans in cuffs. As fucked up as it is to say it, there’s some schadenfreude to be had when white Republicans get treated by law enforcement the same way they treat black people. And they don’t even get the irony when they complain “well this is an injustice!” One shooter did scare hundreds of armed officials at an elementary school, so I wouldn’t put too much faith in men with big guns. Texas police. The Border Patrol agent is the one that busted past their pansy barricade. Even a 30 something year old mother was braver than the Texas posse. Just drive over it with a mine clearing equipped Abrams. Those things are designed to chew up the ground and weigh nearly 100 tons. Police officers just act tough and in reality are scared/power hungry(generally). Army/marines would crack up laughing at them shooting their guns, call in mortar and air strikes and problem solved. In this modern social-media age, you know somebody wants to be the first shot fired and you can’t do that if you wait. Holy Fuck. Be safe out there. Defend democracy, please. Be safe. Some of these guys are incredibly defiant. Do you remember the idiots that occupied National Wildlife Refuge for weeks ?
