Mother-in-Law rang Tuesday night, told her, she said “you can’t do it, there’s no way FIL is going to live that long” (he was terminally ill, but we had thought he had maybe 6 months to go.) Didn’t sleep Tuesday or Wednesday night, spent the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this whole of Wednesday trying to work out how to stand in front of the judge and tell him I couldn’t do it. Thursday morning I turned up at court early in something of a state. Explained the situation to one of the officials.”Leave it with me.”10 minutes later she came back and said “yeah, no problem, you are off the jury. You need to come in at the start of the trial to be formerly discharged, but then you’re free to go.” Was discharged from the chamber, given an expense form to fill in and told to go home and look after my family.

Trial ran for 9 weeks. Not going to say any more about what it was, but the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this main defendant will not be seeing freedom for a LONG time, possibly ever. They have to be. If you select a jury whose main priority is leaving ASAP then they might just give the easiest verdict possible instead of actually deliberating. Was one of those things where because you don’t know what the deal is, you go into it fearing the worst. I think what made me feel worse about it was we’d apparently (and quite rightly given the case) got the “head” judge (not sure what the correct term is!) who had the reputation for being a real hard nut. No-one was really to blame, or maybe both drivers were to blame but the judge ordered us to ignore bits of evidence so the defendant was found guilty.
Why did you have to look him in the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this eye? When I was foreman I was asked to give our verdict to the judge, not to the defendants I felt it was the right thing to do; if we’ve made a decision on this blokes life the least I could do was tell him to his face I got called up at 19 and my first trial on the first day was a rape trial. I was truly thrown in the deep end of the process. The whole two weeks was a fascinating process though and I would like to undertake it again if called. I’ve been on two juries and both times evidence is mentioned that we don’t have access to. Seems evidence in trial is very scant. On the first one I did, we had to provide a not guilty verdict as we could not prove without reasonable doubt that he’d done it, but the judge then found him guilty using a piece of evidence withheld to us during the trial. Waste of time! If you misheard something, your fellow jurors would help you and you’d be given evidence in the jury room written down as well. You should be given assistance if you request it anyway. this isn’t true in Scotland. You have to rely on your own notes you made. Not sure why, it seemed a stupid way to do it. Very true, I do think it’ll be interesting and given I’d have to get medical certificate etc, I’m leaning towards going its fine but giving a heads up (there is something on the letter about accommodations etc)

Mine was great, but it was just a low-level drugs case. Draw a child abuse or murder and it’s probably a different story. Yeah, uncle got a murder case a few months ago and was….shaken. He’s fine now but the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this photos haunted him for a while. He said that even with that he’d absolutely do it all again. I’ve been called up twice, once I was never chosen and the most recent one my brainfog was too bad, I’d never have been able to think straight or make important decisions. My GP backed me up because just days before i got the citation i had burst into tears in an appointment, feeling like the most incompetent idiot in the world.. I was gutted tbh, the court clerk guy said I could be called back up soon so I hope it can happen next time.
I was called for jury service and rejected when I told them I was deaf in one ear. No need for a medical certificate, they just took my word for it on the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this form. Definitely respond with the accommodations you require, or are made for people with hearing impairment. You might find you’ll pick up other things like body language perhaps better than those who don’t need to concentrate as much to listen. Got picked for an absolute horror trial in 2022. Was told in advance it was going to last up to ten weeks. Horrible case, pretty much the most awful thing you can imagine. We heard one full day of evidence then went in on the second day and sat around for three hours before being told by the judge the case was being postponed because of some lawyer shit. Other than that, the food was awful, there was a lot of waiting around and every time we filed in or out of the court we had to line up in order which was like being at school. Also the other jurors were complete morons. If I’d had to spend ten weeks with them I would have gone off my head. I worry about this all the time. I was a victim of a horrendous crime when I was child, i had to give evidence via video link, guy got convicted, but getting called for jury duty for an awful case plays on the back of mind.
If you have relevant history or trauma they absolutely will mention beforehand and you can be excluded from the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this jury on that case. My first case I was called for was a rape trial and they mentioned at the start that if anyone was going to be upset or would be unable to take part they should speak to the court jury assistant person. They called about 15 people to start as they need 12 so they had spares in case someone said they couldn’t do it. I’m sure you could get exempted for that. There’s a few things that they probably shouldn’t pick me for to be fair. All members of the jury had been selected and the rest of us were about to be allowed to leave until a women on the jury mentioned that she knew one of the people involved in the case, so she was allowed to leave and her replacement was then chosen. As the names in the bowl were being mixed up, I kept thinking to myself “It’s gonna be me. I know it will” and then whose name gets called?
In the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this end, we found the defendant guilty of one charge but only because he openly admitted it and knew he had done wrong but we found him not guilty of the other charge (the more serious one). This was because his account made sense and it was quite obvious that the witnesses that were testifying against him were not telling the truth as their evidence didn’t make any sense and they always contradicted each other. The case took two days and it included a lot of waiting around but we did get a meal out of it which was okay. Most of the other jurors were nice and interesting people although one did have a cold so by the end of the case, we all caught their cold. Yes, my dad has said I get a free meal out of it and expenses back (although that’s really just the bus cost o think) I’ve been called up to start 26th, received an email Friday sending me paperwork as there’s a 6 week trial starting 26th. Six weeks off work sounds like heaven, trial will probably be a shit one.
Got called up for my first time late last year. Didn’t think I’d be on a case but on the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this first day I was called to an accused dual rape, strangulation, and assault by beating… fucking overwhelming quite honestly. We unanimously voted the bastard guilty after three or four days and he ended up getting 11 years or something. I’d leave every day feeling mentally exhausted. And I’m also a terrible speaker in front of an audience so barely said a word to my fellow jurors until the last day. That sounds horrible to deal with – at least it sounds like the right outcome (well guilty anyway…sounds like he should have got longer but that’s on the judge) I’ve got jury duty starting next month, and I’m dreading a case like this. I’m pretty squeamish at the best of times and really don’t want to have to deal with evidence of violence done to someone.
If it helps, I was on a jury for a case where someone was tortured leading to their murder – it was handled as delicately as possible (absolutely no photographs of the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this deceased, photos of the crime scene were only what was relevant e.g. direct evidence used in the case) and the most “graphic” thing we saw was a drawing by the coroner indicating what injuries were found and where. Initially I was worried about being squeamish but they don’t want to traumatise you, just determine if the defendant/s are guilty of what has happened. I’m glad you were able to put him away. I had a sexual assault case against a 13 year old girl. It wasn’t rape because it was anal. The whole jury knew he’d done it, but the prosecution was an absolute shit-show with witnesses contradicting each other, a “Best friend” who essentially called her a liar, parents who were too drunk to know where their daughter was, or what their family friend was doing, and no forensic evidence taken.
I live very close to where it happened and later heard that he’d gone back to Poland after getting out of hospital due to being violently assaulted. Nobody “knew” who did it… I also had a rape case and although im sure he had done it and she was clearly traumatised, it was impossible to find him guilty because there were no witnesses and it was her word against his. I found the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this process extremely frustrating – but not as frustrating as the older members of the jury that thought she was asking for it because of how drunk she was (sick all over herself and unable to undress herself) and because she had gone out to a club with no knickers under her dress. I did jury service years ago, and it was a case of historic domestic violence, rape, anal rape (or buggery depending on when we believed the incidences had taken place – the law had changed in the years the trial covered), assault, ABH, GBH, the lot. At the outset, the judge told us that, due to the timescales involved, there would not be hard evidence for many of the crimes but would be one word against another, and we must decide, using our knowledge of the crimes that there WAS evidence for, as well as the testimonies of those that took the stand, who we believed. If we had reasonable doubt, we must find the accused not guilty, but it was up to us to make the decision.
I found that really interesting, as I had assumed you couldn’t convict without evidence, but we were instructed that the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this accounts were evidence. It was awful, but very interesting and illuminating about the judicial system. I think I was lucky that I was on a jury who all took it very seriously. We eventually found him guilty of at least one count of each crime, although it was awful having to watch the victim’s face when a not guilty verdict was returned for any individual count. We were called the first day, and the trial took three weeks, although it actually only took two – the first week, the judge was ill when we went in the second day, so we were excused for the rest of the week. I asked if we should go back to work as we’d been sworn in so couldn’t be on any other trial, and the clerk said we could, but didn’t have to. So I rang work and told them we couldn’t go in in case anyone asked us about the trial and happened to know anyone involved, and got a free week off. Which was nice. That’s horrifying to deal with. Can I ask why ‘it wasn’t rape because it was anal’ is a thing? I seem to remember some training from Rape Crisis explaining the bizarre legal definition of what rape is but don’t remember that one.
Not who you’re replying to, but anal rape is still considered rape under UK law:If it was penetration by something other than a penis, it would be sexual assault by penetration, so perhaps that. I was called up and was a bit worried as I am self employed and being stuck in there for weeks would have stuffed up my business, but in the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this end was only in for a day. It was a coroner’s jury I think, upshot was we were looking at a case of the death of a mental health patient in a care facility and it was all pretty heart breaking but over by teatime. Was in a city I had never been too or lived in. It was a long long long way away. The letter was sent to my address in the city I was living in though. Didn’t have the £ to get there or £ to stay in a hotel and then claim it back. The guy on the phone from the jury service told me I would be arrested for not going.
I was put on a jury where another member was a prison guard. About halfway through they became anxious that the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this accused would wind up in their prison. Mental that they were even allowed on the jury in the first place. I did two cases. The first was a nightclub bouncer accused of assaulting someone. Luckily there was CCTV that showed the person who made the complaint being refused entry to a club and then deciding to try and fight the bouncers. We were allowed to take the VHS player ( it was a long time ago) and the TV into the just room with us sorting out discussions. The bouncer merely pushed the complainant back after he’d tried to punch the bouncer. We found him not guilty much tho his obvious relief. I can’t imagine how we would have arrived at a verdict without the video footage, though.
The second case was of a member of the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this travelling community, who was up for approaching people in Range Rovers at the car park of a roadside cafe, and trying to sell parts of a Range Rover that was known to have been stolen. He was questioned by the prosecution about whether he had said anything to any potential witnesses about the case (the implication being that greedy tried to intimidate witnesses). This caused his defence to object and the jury was taken out of court while they decided if that line of questioning was allowed, which it wasn’t. After the trial continued, hi s main defence was that he was waiting at the cafe to meet his five brothers and sisters who were going to visit their parents’ grave which was nearby. When asked why only one brother could turn up as a witness to support this, he said that he’d fallen out with all of them, except for this brother. This one brother, when questioned, said that he couldn’t be sure of the date as he couldn’t read or write, and also couldn’t even tell the time. After a short deliberation we found him guilty. It took longer for us to decide who was going to be the fireman, to deliver the verdict. Nobody wanted to do it, so I volunteered. When the judge asked me to stand and stare whether we’d found him guilty, or not guilty, I had intended to answer calmly and clearly, but I found that I could hardly speak and I only just managed to croak “guilty”. After I sat down the judge read it that the man had 22 previous convictions for theft and violence, and had only been out of prison for two months before committing this offence. I can’t remember what his sentence was, but I do remember that he was going back inside. After we went back to the jury room, one of the women told me that “He was looking daggers at you after you said guilty”. Despite that, I was glad that I’d done my part for society. I can’t say that I exactly enjoyed the process, but it was fascinating to observe people in court and I feel, and hope, that we reached the correct decisions.
Not knowing he had 20+ previous convictions is pretty crazy – I don’t think I am a fan of how they manipulate what evidence you can/can’t hear. Child sexual abuse case, was truly horrible. The accused sat watching from a glazed gallery while his victim spent an entire day’s proceedings describing what he’d endured and how it impacted his subsequent life. The defendant then killed himself that evening, and we were all released for the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this remainder of our two week call-up and offered counselling. I preferred just to go home and try to forget all about it. My mum also got a child abuse case, hers involving a very minor celebrity. I suppose child abuse cases are more common than I’d have guessed. The process itself was fine, the details of the case did stay with me for a couple of weeks and wondering “did we make the right decision”.
What surprised me the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this most was the other jury members really. We ended up in deliberation for a couple of days. A couple lacked basic comprehension of the questions asked to us (some down to non-english first language and some down to the way lawyers and the judicial system presents questions). Some people had seemingly made up their mind before hearing any real evidence and just going off what they thought of the nature of the crime. one person was fixated about some super rare phycological condition they had read about because phycology was their hobby and then atributed this condition to the victim when there was 0 evidence or mention of this. The only time I’ve been called up, I went to the court, passed through the security, got stopped. Had a pen knife in my pocket that I forgot about. The security guard called a couple of cops over who take me into a small interview room and proceed to tell me off, take my details etc.. Obviously I’m absolutely shitting myself at this point. Eventually they ask what I’m in court for today and I tell them jury service. They suddenly lighten up; turns out they had assumed I was some kind of hardened criminal. So they let me go, woohoo! (I didn’t get picked to do the jury service itself, but when the accused swaggered in dressed in a full body, bright blue shell suit, palms facing backwards, I decided he was guilty then and there, so it’s probably just as well they didn’t pick me on middle class impartiality grounds.)
If you do end up on a trial, don’t be at all late. A woman on the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this jury of one of the trials i was on was fined £100 because we had to wait five minutes for her. Her excuse was that there was a long queue in Marks and Spencer when she went to buy a sandwich. As an avid crime fiction reader & watcher, I’ve always quite fancied it. Imagine my dismay to discover that a distant relative had had a summons to serve on a jury but was unable to as they were in prison at the time. Yeh I do have visions of being all Agatha Christie- and then ending up with a bog standard shoplifter or something. In reality I’d bet most cases are going to be fairly standard stuff like shoplifting, minor assaults. The sort of things that happen all the time, not the murders and rapes that are rarer.
I know you are joking, but for the No Contry For Woke Men A Doge Brothers Film Elon Musk, Donald Trump, JD Vance Poster shirt also I will do this avoidance of doubt, the deal with being a juror is that you must make a decision in the evidence presented, not go looking for it making up your own evidence. I did it a couple of years ago, attempted murder case, guy defended himself which went about as well as you would have imagined. I was the foreman (forewoman?) of the jury, the others on the jury selected me to do this solely on the basis of my job (teacher). I found the whole thing really really fascinating, reading the minutiae of the law to assist in making the judgement etc. i was fortunate that it wasn’t a distressing case in spite of the charges, I had a mate coincidentally doing it at the same time and he had a horrible case involving abuse and incest and it really upset him. So it’s luck of the draw in terms of what case you get. I was originally picked for a case that ended up being a terrorism trial (was at Belmarsh) but had to excuse myself due to the predicted duration of the trial. Was a bit annoyed when I found out later as that would have been extremely interesting.
