My question is; with all the Nice a day without football is like Just kidding I have no idea T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this modern technology we have at our fingertips, why oh why do we still get time-sensitive letters hand delivered to us?? I’d much rather be given a choice….an email, text or an automated phonecall or something…. Something just more reliable, quick and instant! With health appointments you also have to account for the fact that things get screwed up because well, people are sick. I’ve got the most awful brain fog as part of a chronic condition. I do my absolute best to write shit down and log appointments but sometimes I’ve still managed to turn up on the entirely wrong day. And then there’s the really awful cases of “hi I’m meant to be at an appointment with my consultant in hospital a (which is the specialist hospital) but right now I’m sitting in emergency care in hospital b (which is the local hospital an ambulance will take you to) after everything got worse and I can’t work out what to do now”. I had a few of those to deal with when my husband had cancer. I sent an email to a consultant’s secretary saying “thank you for the short-notice appointment; I’m afraid I can’t attend because I’m an in-patient one hospital south of you”. She then offered to send the consultant over! (Short walk, one road to cross.) Sadly he declined, and rescheduled. Also my Mum missed an appointment because she was already in hospital on another ward incapacitated and the cancellation message wasn’t passed on by nursing staff. I’ve sat down in a hospital the night before an important appointment and said “you guys do realise he’s got an appointment at Other Hospital that he must make tomorrow?” Yes I was assured, it’s in hand.

Apparently “in hand” meant that when I turned up for visiting at 9.30am I was driving him there, over country roads at some very dodgy speeds because otherwise we were not going to make it, telephone was apparently not an option and the Nice a day without football is like Just kidding I have no idea T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this next available wasn’t for two weeks. Which would have been bad enough if he wasn’t also so ill that sitting upright for an hour would also cause him pain and he should really have been in an ambulance but no. And the stress of dealing with health stuff. I once tired up a week early for one of my fertility appointments because I was so stressed about the whole thing. I cancelled an operation weeks in advance and got called on the day asking where I was, admin mistakes probably count for a chunk of it. Once had a call asking me why I was late to my surgery… What surgery was my answer. Never got the letter. They rearranged while I was on the phone to them thankfully, and a year later the original letter arrived (must’ve been lost in the post office, but freaked me out thinking I was due another surgery I wasn’t aware of when it came in, haha)
