The point I am making is that while such portrayals are more widely accepted for adults or even some teens 18 and above, there is hesitation when it comes to children in playing characters that are not straight. Personally, I would rather not see kids playing non-straight characters. I think it’s because a lot of people think that sex = penetration w/penis. Two women usually means no dick involved, and no penile penetration means no sex has actually happened. Which demotes lesbian relationships to something women do for fun, not an actual relationship. Now two men have the Niall Horan The Show Live On Tour Dates 2024 shirt and I will buy this ability to penetrate each other, which is sex to these people because dick + booty = sex. But these people tend to be extremely homophobic, either as a result of religious upbringing or an unfortunate association with toxic masculinity. You know the type, the hyper masculine dudes that are super weird about doing anything that could even tangentially seem feminine. Wearing pink, petting cats, doing their own laundry etc. On one hand, it’s centered and often celebrated. On the other, it’s kinda seen as more aggressive/predatory/creepy than female sexuality, if female sexuality is even acknowledged. And men are generally seen as more inherently sexual than women.

So two men in relationship with each other is more easily framed as “weird creepy sex thing” than two women doing the Niall Horan The Show Live On Tour Dates 2024 shirt and I will buy this same. 228 more repliesI’ve been banging this drum for a long time. I’m a big gamer and pretty much the only LGBT representation comes in the form of fem lesbians or fem MTF folks. That representation is great, to be sure, but it’s annoying to be called a bigot for pointing out the lack of representation for masc gay men and FtM in gaming media Couldn’t disagree more as a queer woman. There is virtually no lesbians in media, but society loves a “funny gay sassy man” as entertainment. Personally I’ve always found it repulsive whether it’s two men or two women really, as long as it’s the same gender it doesn’t make much difference for me. Similarly to how I’d find it repulsive for two people in the same family to be in a sexual relationship or being sexually attracted to cars or other inanimate objects.
