I think this is an underhanded way to try to get more people to sign up for amc’s moviepass (which imo is actually a decent deal if you like to go to the Never underestimate an old man who loves golf and was born in April shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this movies more than once a month). They’ll make far more for having Americans on a subscription based service than they will from individual ticket sales of any movie These days, cinemas offer an inferior experience compared to anyone with a decent setup at home. What’s the point in 15 bucks a ticket when I can just buy the movie for under double that and watch it anytime and as much as I want? Cinemas need to come up with a new service/experience model. This feels like someone trying to get you to pay extra to send a letter overseas by airmail when you could just email them. This is a fantastic idea. Just as people start going back to cinemas, gouge them! Remind them they hate paying for overpriced films and substandard snacks. Reduce the profitability of theatrical releases. Then, studios will start developing for the home theater and we can get better quality without the middleman.

Charge me $5 and I’ll see almost any damned movie and buy $25 popcorn no questions asked. It’s so damned obvious where they can make the Never underestimate an old man who loves golf and was born in April shirt but I will buy this shirt and I will love this most profit. There’s only one theater in town, and it’s AMC. I’d have to drive to the city, which is a 45-minute drive one way, to view movies in a different theater. As someone who lives in suburbs/urban area, I have about 5-7 theaters withing 30 min from my house, this is sad ro hear. I live in Marathon FL. We have one AMC in Key West, and one B&B in Key Largo. But if you’re in KW (basically the end of the world) all you have are AMC without a 2 hour drive My hometown has one theater in a 50 mile radius lmao and it’s an AMC and they are damn lucky to have one at all. They had a Great Escape theater for a while about 20 miles away but it went under ages ago Not that I care though; between covid and shitty patrons the theaters have never held less appeal. I’d love to get an Alamo Drafthouse where I’m at. Literally any degree of bullshit beyond what I currently put up with to go to the theater just isn’t worth it. I can wait a few months. Ok good luck with that. Pretty sure it was established 30 years ago that there’s definitely a price ceiling for media the public will tolerate and anything over it will just get pirated.
