Overall safety measure – intially had a bike , got married and relaized for safety need to buy a car , got the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this basic hatch back with whatever my budget allowed . Then came the Kid and i realized the importance of safety even more and then the incerase of family visit / stay inceases (refer point 1) Show off – i come from a very middle class and as kid would drool over some of the cars of other peeople when i my dad would drop me on a bike ,so somehwere inherently i wanted to have a good car so i did Wait.. I just googled the ertiga and it’s a fucking minivan and not an suv? I thought it was just one of those bigger suvs like the Range rover suvs but what???? I don’t think the SUV format automatically makes the car safer though. A Sedan with a 5 NCAP rating is safer than an SUV with a 3 star NCAP rating.

Creta which is the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this most popular SUV in India only has a 3 star NCAP rating. I think the Verna which costs the same, has the same engine etc has a 5. In India I will definitely buy one big ass SUV or minivan (fortuner or Innova) since there are so many family members who would like to tag along. Yes, SUVs are terrible for everyone else, but unless you give people great public transport alternatives while simultaneously penalising car ownership, it won’t change. Maybe because when you finally buy a car for your family after slaving years to get that money, you don’t want a microcar to please anti-car walkable-city dreaming liberals. Maybe they are fine with driving it in the traffic, since everyone is stuck in traffic anyways, might as well be stuck in a more spacious car. Besides, the pothole filled roads are a nightmare to drive sedans on anyways.
And sedan vs the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this SUVs like creta and similar, the space occupied on road is not very different. How does it matter. There are a lot of reasons, but one of them could be lack of good roads. Roads in Bangalore and in general around the state are generally not well maintained. Earlier tarring of roads was the norm before elections, so we would have good roads at-least once every 5 years or so. But last couple of sessions they have resorted to other methods and roads are not being tarred. If the entire road is bad it is still okay as you are driving slowly as you the patch of road is bad. Off late due to rampant construction and haphazard roadworks, there is a gaping hole on a perfectly good road. So you can’t even anticipate.

Description for Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt

Simply put it, driving these smaller hatchbacks on such roads for long distances would tire the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this passengers and driver alike. So most folks are trying to go for “SUV”. These are nothing more than vehicles with big body shells with same engine, chassis and equipment. Not really SUVs. I don’t really see much difference in driving a hatchback like Tiago vs an SUV like XUV700, you just take some time to get adjusted to the size. On the same roads when buses and lorries are running, driving a full sized SUV is not really an issue. I am not sure which roads you are driving on, maybe there its an issue, but that is an infrastructure problem. Government already taxes a lot on >4m cars, there is no need to have additional restrictions.
The only advantage of smaller cars is when parking beside the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this roads, even there it is only helpful if you have much smaller cars like MG comet. Most likely these spots would be not regulated, because if they are paid parking then enough space would be provided for bigger cars to fit as well. Yes, I completely agree that parking on the road is bad, it shouldn’t matter what the size of the car is though. Is he driving all 3 cars at the same time? If not, what is the problem if he keeps them parked inside his house? bad roads. higher ground clearance gives peace of mind. it’s not just suvs, there are no places for cars in general in bangalore now, but yeah suvs are worse. Ayo but Hella fr, I’m pretty sure most suvs in India are just the same length as a sedan, it’s just that it’s taller so it feels bigger Majority of the Indian SUVs are < 4m in length and not wide too. Hatchbacks like i20 have larger dimensions. Don't get fooled by the shape. Reason for SUVs is just higher ground clearance for the poor quality roads. Compared to how unsafe riding bikes is in the pothole-ridden Bangalore roads, cars are any day better. Till the time our public transport is sorted out, this is unfortunately the best option for many. I bought an SUV because I find myself off-roading, going on roads trips, camping, scaling poorly designed speed breakers and death traps aka potholes.
The incompetence of city officials, politicians already affects my life because of traffic and lack of even the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this most basic infrastructure. If I ride a bike my brain could be splattered on the road because I ride into a pothole. If I drive a car I’d be lectured by the likes of you. What you’re suggesting now is that I should let incompetence, corruption and callousness dictate what I buy and enjoy in my life, because otherwise my slightly bigger than usual vehicle is the sole reason why everyone is stuck in traffic. Road conditions bro. In hindsight i should’ve done the same. Heavily potholed / uneven roads are hell to drive on or ride bikes on. Not denying there are folks who do it for an ego boost (aka sd energy). I especially get those vibes from thar drivers.
India is already a country where almost all the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this compact SUVs are sub-4 meters in length due to some tax reasons. Most SUVs are simply elevated, but in length, they are more or less on par with hatchbacks and compact sedans. For example, the Kia Sonet and the Hyundai i20 are the same length. Seltos is .5 meters longer. Doesn’t make a huge difference. Family had a Honda City and it would scrape on every pothole and stupidly placed speed breaker. Had a Wagon R and Santro but those never stayed long. Great fuel economy and can nip through gaps but 0 safety or any features to m. A previous manager had a VW Vento that would bash the underside on every rise and dip when it was fully loaded. An SUV solves quite a few of the issues – higher ground clearance to roll thru the Dakar special stages of Bengaluru roads, plus easier to get in and out of for nearly everyone not to mention the safety bits that come in an SUV over smaller hatchbacks, given how autos, taxis and trucks drive about. If that SUV has a good automatic trans (torque converter over dry clutch DCT or head nodding IMT/AMTs), then it is a smooth and comfortable experience, even if stuck in traffic.
Do I drive one to show off? Nope, but many do want a blinged-up Thar or Fortuner or Endeavour to show off vs. having them for any practicality. Let’s not forget the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this obsession over sunroofs too. I drive an SUV as it’s comfortable even when stuck for 2 to 3 hours in traffic, knowing it’s safe and can get thru BBMPs’ best efforts to destroy the city infra. Else, it would easily have been a Polo GT TSI (despite the DCT) plus a 2 wheeler for the commutes. People buy SUVs for a lot of reasons and none are wrong. Some buy it due to then number of people in the family and some buy it since it’s more safer or any personal reasons. This is just an L take tbh OP. If traffic is your issue you should be talking about infrastructure and population not SUVs.
Besides the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this ground clearance, which is very true, and the safety factor, which is also important, there’s one more factor: The intercity roads and highways are getting better. Compared to 10 years ago, it is way way easier to travel to nearby places. Hotels are better. Many many families now prefer to drive for holidays compared to taking the bus or train or flight. If you are having a long journey, say 5-6 times a year, it’s much better to have an SUV than a city car. More space, more secure. Maybe some people will buy two cars, one for city and one for long distances, but most can’t afford it. So, just the one SUV. This will not make sense to single, younger people who have enough holidays and aren’t driving their families around, but for somewhat older folks who can afford it, it makes absolute sense. Car Trips are more affordable than plane trips and can be planned on a whim (whenever the kids have a sudden free weekend). This is typical India. Social standards are somehow set like that. 10 years back goal was to get a car, now majority is rich enough to get a car, now they want to make the distinction by buying a SUV to differentiate themselves. 10 years from now there will be something else and so on. Roads will be the same
People in this country don’t think about communal welfare. They don’t even bother having basic decency towards others. Balls they’re ever going to take any personal responsibility and exercise their judgement to make things better. SUV has been trending since last decade world wide. Car manufacturers are pushing it to market better profit some are planning to reduce sedans and hatchbacks to few models and some completely stoping the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this production . And it’s easy to go around the emition norms High ground clearance and better shock absorbers help a lot when the roads are bad/absent. Better safety ratings as well in general compared to hatchbacks. With the improving highway quality but unchanged quality/reliability of trains means more people take their cars outstation as well, where extra storage space and safety features become useful. premium sedans were built for speed. when 4th gear is a dream in city limits, they are not really an attraction. So anyone wanting to upgrade their first car wouldn’t find sedans as practical anymore in India. plus Indian SUVs are only 10-15cm wider than hatchbacks. They just come with large front grills so they look bigger.
Usually because of fragile egos. Bigger vehicles give them a sense of superiority on roads, at least that is what I have seen in Creta and Thar drivers. If they get into a tensed situation, it is often that they act unruly because of their big vehicle because it would cause them lesser damage than someone in a small car. SUV is a lot safer in case of accident. Especially if a delivery guy driving on the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this wrong side rams into your car. Makes no sense in this traffic . People buy 1500cc cars to spend all day in traffic. Even fuel efficiency sucks. Most people don’t realise we don’t need that much — a decent 1200cc max engine is enough . Even on highways, the max speed you hit is 100-120. Then some of them will blink dippers when they want to overtake but are not able to due to their lack of skills. I love hurting their egos. I agree with the sentiment, though the only way to stop this is if the government invests heavily in good public transport, last mile transport and pedestrianisation of the entire city and stops building more stupid tunnels and flyovers and widening roads. Also need to tax car ownership. We need to build our city for people, not cars. I also plan to buy thar but only for long rides , like 300kms plus because leave suv I find even 2 wheeler is tough to ride in this traffic. Bad roads, so a car with good ground clearance is needed. Also smaller cars are bullied by the bigger SUVs on the road.
My friend broung one with 80% finance. I asked him why SUV. He said frequent trip to Chennai and his family would be more comfortable in SUV then a hatchback. I had to get a car because of pollution issues, I suffer from Asthma and my god Bangalore roads are extremely dusty. One small drive to my office on my scooter would blow my lungs up every time necessitating the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this use of a pimp, I gave up and despite all the negatives biggest being an easy +30 mins in traffic as compared to a 2 wheeler, I got a car for daily commutes. An SUV made sense due to a higher ground clearance, driving on Bangalore roads is essentially off-roading A thing I noticed from having a sedan is the issue of lower ground clearance. It is a headache driving on the roads of Bengaluru with its humps every few 10 meters or so (in some roads). You have to constantly worry about the car scratching, especially when its loaded like with luggage + 4 members. Though I can buy a car I decided not too because when I commute I want to enjoy the commute with peace of mind, my theory is if you buy a car your stuck with it till you buy the next one, but if I book a cab I get a different cab, and I don’t need to worry about other drivers on the road, I sit back and sleep or when going with my family we have spend time talking without the phones
With all the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this potholes on most of the roads, the suspension of SUVs certainly helps compared to sedans/hatchbacks. They aren’t SUVs. This is the biggest marketing ploy ever. They are sedans with the butt removed or hatchbacks with the roof raised I live alone, work in a weird work shift (I literally have holidays on Fridays). I believe I get paid well, have two two wheelers (both are motorcycles) and what I want now is a second hand 3L Turbo Safari. I really don’t know why I want it (I always travel using the metro) Trust me, if you have 10 km commute in Bangalore, a car is better option, if you can manage fuel cost. You will take the same time to reach your destination. Car will be comfortable, a bike not so.
As I don’t want to get rammed by an SUV on the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this terrible Indian roads. I’d rather be in my SUV when it happens inevitably. Have you driven on these roads? Unscientific speed breakers, unfinished BBMP projects since forever, unexpected ಗುಂಡಿಗಳ.. just to name a few. I have a duster with a ground clearance of around 200mm and yet some roads scratch the surface SUV isn’t a mark of luxury anymore, it’s a necessity. Car is status symbol for many. And current trend is SUV. 10 years back people were happy buying a small hatchback. Some people might need a bigger car according to their needs. I ride both a car and two wheeler and after I started driving a car, I feel more comfortable in a car if I have to travel in around a lot , I’m less tried after I go around in a car and on bad roads I feel safer in car than 2 wheeler, atleast I’ll not fall by skidding on that pothole or that road where there is gravel and sand. Because SUV’s are large and have a lot of space compared to smaller cars. You can accommodate big families or any guests if they come to visit. Plus the bump absorption is great while riding over potholes and speed breakers. It feels amazing compared to a smaller car.
Its this perception (which is true for everywhere) that you will be stuck be it in a hatchback, sedan or SUV. So might has well pay more money and get an SUV which looks big and flashy than a more sensible hatchback or sedan. Look at the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this trend is US, everyone wants a pickup/SUV even when most times, all the seats are empty. Not buying car is a commendable decision in Bengaluru, you will be in a lot of peer pressure to buy a car. That too a big flashy one. I just use mine when I go outside Bengaluru, it lays in the basement for weeks sometimes without moving. So here is a thing. It’s not about SUVs. I travel from South Bangalore to Sarjapur Road 2 days in a week in a 2 wheeler. I have observed 80% of White boards cars it’s single person driving and sitting. Be it SUV or Alto. So this stretch until Silk Board at I have people who are on their way to Ecity, Sarjapur, Marathalli, Whitefield. 4 major areas of IT. Only yellow boards and buses and 12 seater will have more than 2 people. And even SUVs with white boards people travel alone daily (?). Once in a while when I was taking a cab, a driver who was very talkative said to me that once he had a passenger who was big manager/level in some big company in Whitefield. When this driver asked him why cab today the guy said I take my Innova 3 days a week to office I have Wagon R also but I don’t take that as it’s question of prestige. I connected to that as even in my company I know few GMs and AGMs who goes to office in SuVs and car alone And I think it same all around. And there is your traffic my friends.
This is between 7:30am to 9:30am and evening time I can’t comment because I leave at 4:30 and I guess it’s same later in peak indpeak hours. Lack of proper road infrastructure and knowledge. I’m from Karnataka. We have sedan. Due to more ground clearance and suspension(as compared to sedan) SUVs are the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this best Here’s my view on this. As someone who is planning to buy a car, I’m inclined towards SUV because of the roads. With sedans or small cars I always run the risk of scraping the bottom or get stuck or damage the vehicle in some potholes. So better choice is SUV. But the main thing is 90% of SUV on the road is just a bigger hatchback. They just use the SUV name to sell cars to all section of customer. Else who will, in their right mind call Tata punch or Exter a SUV?! In the US, brands found a loophole to skirt emission and safety norms because real SUVs are classified as light trucks and aren’t held to the same tests as normal cars. So they marketed them as safe and cool. The idiots lapped it up.
The idiots who lapped it up were mainly people who were disinterested in cars, didn’t care much about what they owned, how it handled, didn’t care if it fit their actual needs and didn’t care if it inconvenienced others. These idiots started getting into crashes with pedestrians, cyclists and regular people in normal cars. Those light trucks battered whatever it collided with. So normal people started buying SUVs as a defense mechanism and thus started the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this arms race. The brands then started to tweak around the SUV formula for the broke people and lifted their hatchbacks and called them crossovers, by this point even the normal people started getting the brain rot and started buying these up. All the trends that start in US trickle down to India inevitably. And lo and behold, all the brands in India mainly have these utility vehicles or crossovers in their portfolio. If you look back 15 years, you’d see normal hatchbacks and sedans. Now, I have very limited choice if I want to sell my current car and upgrade. Soon there may be none. Ford for instance has ditched building normal cars in the US. I hope other brands don’t do this.
The brands that operate in India have one more thing to leverage for marketing, the Negan The Walking Dead character in the comic book series The Walking Dead T-Shirt in other words I will buy this bad roads. The fuckers have been given a free pass to gyp the consumers by the sheer incompetence of the government. And the people here are distracted enough with other trivial matters to raise voice against the poor infrastructure. I can understand if you have a legitimate need to buy a crossover or an SUV (fuck it there’s nothing sporty about these vehicles, I’ll call them Utility vehicles) like having a big family (honestly only one legit reason I can think of). I cannot reason with others, I have no hope for you. No matter what it cost you to buy that land yatch, no matter your aspirations, unless you have a legit reason, I’ll still look down upon you for your choice. Your utility vehicle, your compensator fails to impress me. You’re an eye sore to people with taste, you’re a problem that is actively exacerbating the traffic congestion in the city. You are a greater hazard to other road users and all it takes is one solid nudge at the correct angle to turn your UV land on its roof. And these people will say that UVs are prevalent because of bad roads, but no one is thinking about fixing the bad roads. It’s like putting a band aid to a gangrenous limb.
