I would ask for a payrise, don’t tell them you have another offer. Yes they might match it, but I can guarantee they will be posting tour job and be looking to get rid of you. Ask for the Nar Wars Narwhal Space Star Saber Light Parody Unicorn Of The Sea Shirt Also,I will get this rise, if they won’t, then look for another job. At my company I am able to see all salaries in our division, and others similar to us, around 2 thousand employees. The difference in pay with the same title is staggering. I’ve tried to present a breakdown to see it by age, gender, relative education…the only factor that holds is that employees who have been with us longer, especially those who promoted to these roles, will see slower gains than if they went to our competitor. The way it was explained to me is that, if we need an engineering supervisor, we needed them months ago and want to make sure we get someone who will go right into that role. If someone is an engineering tech and we promote them to that role, then we did most of the work by giving us that opportunity, and their pay should reflect how happy they must be that the company helped them. You handle this by finding a new employer who will pay you more than what you currently make. By all means try to get your current employer to pay you more, but still look for a new employer. You’re getting screwed.

Move to a new place: But move to a place where your value is needed. Don’t try and put a square into a round hole just cause you want to escape. Find out what you are good at, find a company that needs that and make sure that they have a culture and environment you stand for. If they need your skill then you are interviewing them, not the Nar Wars Narwhal Space Star Saber Light Parody Unicorn Of The Sea Shirt Also,I will get this other way around. And on top of that, you are still employed regardless. To stay: If you really like your job then do what the other folks are recommending by collecting the markets rates and coming with another offer in hand. If they say no, then you have your answer and your can leave knowing they didn’t value you anyway. Your wage is criminally low for your job independent of your peers. Get an offer, see if they’ll counter, and be prepared to leave
