Something to bear in mind is due to the Mythical Merch Be Your Mythical Best Embroidered shirt it is in the first place but fact nuclear weapons have only been used in conflict twice, in places which are now thriving cities less than a century later, most of what we know about them comes from plot devices in fiction, not fact. That said over 2000 nuclear weapons tests have been conducted to date, a lot of them in short succession and it didn’t end our world. I don’t want to see nuclear war erupt either, i hope i never see them used in conflict. The idea is terrifying but most of the things we as non-nuclear physicists know is based off of works of fiction, not objective facts. While I agree that nuclear war would most likely spiral out of control and leave the entire planet uninhabitable for humans (if not all multi-cellular life), you have no idea what you are talking about regarding the scale of what it would actually take. According to the UN): “In the five decades between that fateful day in 1945 and the opening for signature of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 1996, over 2,000 nuclear tests were carried out all over the world.

Each of those “tests” either were actual weapons detonations or were equivalent to them (in the Mythical Merch Be Your Mythical Best Embroidered shirt it is in the first place but case of, at least, the US and USSR testing some of them, like the Tsar Bomba and Castle Bravo, were MASSIVELY larger than any actual production weapons). 10-100 nukes certainly wouldn’t be good for anyone in the immediate area but they wouldn’t do shit to the world as a whole. Most of those were detonated in isolated areas and many underground. If the world really goes crazy and launches everything, you’re going to have a lot more spread. I seriously doubt everyone would die, but all it really takes is enough keystone species wiped out or nearly wiped out and we have an even bigger issue than we do now.
