I’m always amazed (for lack of a better word) at how plain the My wife says only have two when gaming somehing else video game T-Shirt in other words I will buy this cheap meals produced in the US are. Like yea, this is fine to keep someone on their feet, but I can’t help wonder why they didn’t op for cheaper alternatives that would’ve made the meal more filling and nutritious. For example, they could’ve easily subbed that slider for like a bean-based (like lentils or chickpea) curry to round out the rice and lamb. Throw like some peas, carrots, and some potatoes and that’s a WAY more filling/nutritious plate. All of this could easily be done in a single pot as well, so it’s not even like it’d add significantly more work to prepare. I used to help cook and hang out with the mission after my community service hours finished each night (16, traffic ticket), and those guys and gals knew how to turn any normal looking meal into the best tasting thing ever and took massive pride in adding personal touches to meals and sharing their “secrets”, newcomer cooks regularly bringing something different to the collective. I’ve been served jelly beans, watermelon, and chocolate milk at a shelter before. Keep your head up and eat whenever you can no matter what

The only thing here is reading non homeless people trying to imagine what it’s like to be homeless and how they would do it! If you’re living somewhere you can burn a camp stove. I’d recommend and Emberlit. If you need help getting one together, let me know I’ll organize it. This actually looks so good.. I was homeless for the last year or so living in Texas and I would seriously cry so hard every day bc the food was so gross. I’d tell myself it’s food, be grateful but shit wAs so gross by meal time I’d be in tears again lol. So thankful for that EBT card and the ability to have hours where we can cook our own foods. I prefered the 50 cal but circumstance might make some other size better. So when it comes time to use your Mobile One Person Field Kitchen, empty the ammo cans into the paper bag (except for the sterno and pans) and lay them on their sides. Spread them out enough so you can lay your metal grates on them and put the cans of sterno under the grate. You now have a multi burner stove.
