I will never lay my hands on my children. My mother believed it’s the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and best way to get a child to listen, including myself that was somehow the most compliant child, and it left more than just physical wounds. There were times when I was outright terrified of her. My sister practically hates her for it because of the trauma she inflicted. And besides that, I don’t believe spankings or beating really teach anything. Learning something, even life skills, takes time and patience. It takes repeating and understanding on both sides. For some things I missed out on that because she refused to have conversations. She would yell at us, threaten us, and hit us, but she wouldn’t talk to us. I won’t let the impact I have on my children be one of fear, distrust, hate, or anything of the sort. They will not associate me with pain.

It wasn’t really my mom’s fault because she never learned investing and was a single parent making just above the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and poverty line. But I make it a point to educate my daughter (11) about money. Saving, debt, investing , credit, wants/needs, emergency fund, etc. I am in a good place now but that is after making many bad decisions. Definitely won’t be having bio kids but other types of parenting aren’t off the table so – Something small I’ve been thinking of lately was never trying to monetise a kid’s hobby. My mother does this thing where it doesn’t matter what interest I’m talking about, she tries to get me to work out how I can make money off it. I was talking to her the other day about a show I watched recently and liked and her response was along the lines of “I don’t really want to hear this, but can’t you work out how to get paid for your time thinking about this stuff? make youtube videos about it” like bruh.
Sports = trying for national/professional teams Arts = where can you sell it Learning an instrument = tutor other people I swear when we stopped and they opened the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and car door, people could see the cloud of smoke come out. I asked, told, begged them to quit smoking while we were stuck in the back seats… The list is longer, but this is at the top of my head. I’ve taken many steps to ensure none of these things will happen to my kids, including therapy, a degree in child development and social education, conflict management courses and parenting classes for both myself and my husband. Mom did fine, dad was a 100% worthless waste of breath. I’ve made it my goal in life to be an awesome, loving, attentive father who’s always there for my kids and I teach them everything I know. Basically everything my dad wasn’t and I’ve succeeded.
Some information about My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt
They are all grown up, successful and have nothing but fond memories of their childhoods. Ironically, now they want to do everything for me.🙂 Oddly, I feel my My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and parents did a good job raising me, despite raising me in poverty. They were kind, understanding, loving, accepting, generous (to a fault as we were poor), etc. They were always there if I wanted to talk or spend time with them. They moved to a rural community so I’d grow up around nature, so I was very healthy. My dad would spend hours talking about philosophy, science, etc. with his hippy friends, and they would include me in their conversations when I was interested. He got me a computer (a commodore 64) long before they were a regular part of society as he thought it would help my future (and it has). Etc.
Not too compare my childhood too theirs , my parents were unfortunate growing up , so they always told me and my sister that we were spoiled , and my parents focused way too much on our school work / and we had too do too many chores , for me I was really in my own bubble and I could of used help being social as a kid but my parents didn’t pick up on that because they thought I was shy and it was a phase which meant that I was behind on social intelligence they saw it as well I’m not getting in trouble so I would encourage my kids too put them selves out their and make friends and at least try Had no plan for me. In hindsight, I was something of a tax deduction. But love was there. Can’t judge too harshly. People do the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and best they can given their circumstances.
making them feel like they are a burden ,and that they cant tell me how they feel i really hope im doing good job I’m going to let my kids have a bad day or feel negative emotions without punishing them for ‘having an attitude’. I want to be open enough that they can tell me what they’re feeling so I can give them what they need. The one complaint I have regarding my parents was hiding, concealing, things in an attempt to protect me. My parents didn’t say a word, beat around the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and bush, and evaded conversation about my mom’s cancer diagnosis for as long as they possibly could. (I was an adult at the time). Even after that, they were not forthcoming about her prognosis. I had to piece it together looking on the internet. It was hurtful. I will never crap on ANYONE who is really trying or really wants to understand or get better at something but is struggling. Even ages after they “should” have gotten it
Also f right off with having to be ranked highly among your peers, winning competitions or conceivably being paid for it as a measurement of skill level. Yeah I get how that works and the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and practicalities but I KNOW the ideas and enthusiasm it kills and the bitterness it cultivates – isn’t life hard enough already? Many, many. I mean my parents weren’t abusive or something, but there are a lot of things I won’t do the same. One of the main things is “hiding” the facts. I was a younger child, and often was considered “too fragile” to be told some unpleasant things happening around me. That made me overprotected which later led me to being less independent than the other peers, and that also led to the confidence/trust issues. I was not spoiled or ungrateful, but I was lacking some important experiences.
I see some “bad” sides of me in my kids, so I’ll at least make sure I’ll talk about anything and everything with them. What’s encouraging is that my kids are more open to express certain feelings or fears I wouldn’t imagine expressing (because boys don’t cry etc.) So, it’s nothing “unforgivable” about my parents, they didn’t know any better, and they were generally supportive. I’ll probably make some mistakes as well, but I won’t repeat the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and old ones. Conflict management skills. Goddamn this hurt my communication skills more than anything. Now I suck at boundaries, I am emotionally numb from continuous emotional suppression, and I feel uncomfortable telling people if I dont feel good about something without fearing invalidation and gaslighting. On that line, the lack of trust of my social decisions. They didnt trust a boy in my room would turn into sex and they punished me for my sibling’s trouble that didn’t involve me.
I would make sure to hear them out, save my judgement of their maturity and use their actions to determine my trust in them Im 18, don’t plan on having kids, but i think every parent should be mandated to attend child and teen psychology lessons, and trained to look out for and take care of mental health issues. My parents are wonderful people and i love them to death, but parenting is more than just being good. Everyone just has kids but no one bothers to learn how to raise them. And that’s why generational trauma exists Very Reddit thing that non-parents don’t just sit out posts like this, but use it to boast about the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and fact they’re not going to have kids. Honestly . Nothing. Answering this would be resentment. I don’t wanna be resentful. Although i have a lot of trauma, I now made peace with it and realize they did what they could at the time, with the information they had. I like to remember that it’s our parent’s first time living too. Forgiveness, always.
Not planning to have kids but if I did I’d definitely give them more attention. My parents only ever talked to me if it was necessary. I wouldn’t say it was a bad thing but I guess sometimes it’s nice to have someone to talk to. too many subtle things to go into detail about but a little piece of advice – knowing what not do to is only half the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and battle. Learn what to do instead before you have children. It will make their lives better, obviously, but will also benefit you more than you may realize. My parent would ask me, “Why did you do that?” which I always hated because the only honest answer was because I felt like it. I tried never to ask my kids that unless there was a really good reason. Remind them constantly of their mistakes. Every mistake. All the time. I brought things up with my kid when it happened then we moved on.
Sell to my friends so they can have sex. Then raise the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and Child to act and behave like a slutbso he can earn more money. Don’t act in anger when they do something wrong, and be consistent with what is and isn’t acceptable behavior. Growing up I was always so anxious and scared at home because you never knew what the rules were and what the punishment was for these inconsistent rules. Could get my ass beat for making too much noise or could get a happy meal for being entertaining. Could get dog cussed for touching the tv remote in the living room or could have a fun discussion about what was on tv. My dad was an abusive alcoholic, thankfully he got sober, made amends and we have a good relationship now, but we didn’t speak or see each other more than a handful of times in my 20’s and I was not going to have that kind of relationship with my kids.
My father was there my parents where married my entire child hood and 13 years before that and 10 years after i moved out on my own. But he wasn’t exactly present and my mom worked all day every day 15 hours a day, my exitance seemed to annoy him more than anything. And I know nothing about him even though he was right there my whole life he just closed off. Now i have basically no relationship with my family outside of blood and tolerance. Not saying NO.. My mom NEVER said no to me gave me whatever I wanted, I turned out thinking the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and world was mine and everyone owned me everything. Dropped outta school started doing drugs my life turned to shit really fast. I don’t blame my mom for never telling me no I blame myself 100 percent. My mom raised me alot different then she raised my brother and sister and they never touched drugs finished school never stated drink never been to jail pretty must had successful lives.
My father felt threatened by any success I had. I have encouraged my children to go beyond my achievements. So far they are on track. Between my husband and I, we had a lot of “absolutely not” standards for how we wanted our kids to grow up. We did it. Always needing to blame someone. Whatever went wrong, there always needed to be a scapegoat. I was not allowed to make mistakes. If I injured myself on the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and playground as a kid, and I would complain to my parents that it hurts they would only say that it was my own fault. Whatever happened, they instinctively would always say “This wouldn’t have happened if X didn’t Y!” not only about me but literally about anyone involved that wasn’t them, no matter how absurd the blame was. Yet, it was never their fault.
This went so far as to blame my girlfriend for physical anf mental health issues I got so much that we had to break off contact with my parents for a good year. My psychologist said my mental health problems stem from the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and spiral that ensued by 1. Suddenly having pyhsical health problems (neuropathy, chronic fatigue etc.) appear after being extraordinarily healthy all my life and 2. Only being supported by my girlfriend and not my parents at all 3. My parents even blaiming the only person who really supports me for somehow causing it in the first place. They are now in “therapy”. But they don’t like psychologists because they’re “all crazy” so instead they go to weekly meetings with a non-certified alt practitioner who they really like. This practitioner must be paid in cash because they do not have a license to be paid by health insurance which my parent’s have. I feel like this “therapist” only tells them what they want to hear because they rely on people coming again and paying again. Maybe that’s why my parents like them and say all other psychologists are “all crazy in their heads”.
My parents didn’t push in my family to get post secondary education. I did it later in life with the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and support of my husband. My kids are all very educated. They were expected to go on to College or University. And they also paid half. They all have good jobs and don’t really have to depend on their spouse. They were not always in favour of this but they sure appreciate it now! They were actually really good for the most part and still made some mistakes that fucked me up, so, the best way to not fuck up my kids, is to not have kids. That’s it I’m convinced this is the one way Putting what other people may or may not be thinking above my kids feelings. I don’t and won’t shame them to make them do what I want them to do. Dad hit me, Mom made me deal with adult problems way too early, and both of them expected me to just grow up without ever being a kid. I’ll never repeat their mistakes, because if it’s my choice I’ll never have kids.
Being so strict that I had to lie about things like where I was going and I was never comfortable with sharing anything with them because I’d always be lectured, even when I was 18 (I’m 27 now). I’ve always told myself that when I have children, I’ll be the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and kind of parent that gives my kids enough freedom and trust to not feel the need to lie to me, and not be afraid to be open with me, no matter what the problem is. I’ve dealt with a lot of things on my own because I was too scared to open up to my parents out of fear of being blamed. Raising even one hand to me, short and sweet the beatings were not short and sweet, I will look at my kids with kindness so they can look at me with love and peace not fear and Hatred Not saying encouraging phrase like “I love you” or “I’m proud of you”. The only times I’ve heard that it was stated as a fact when talking about all of us kids, and it was never the point of the sentence.
Think stuff like “you’re my children and I love all of you. I know you won’t let us down/ you will do the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and right thing”. Now don’t get me wrong, they were and still are good parents. Just old fashioned, and with that comes a lot of methods that aren’t really that good for children’s mental health. I’m sure many of the 80s-90s kids have been traumatized by what was considered good parenting back then. Mental and physical abuse.. always being there for them mentally and physically at all times. I’d never leave or kick my babies out. Ever. Especially after I reacted in a way to hurt them… we really have to learn as we get older about how this life thing goes… and the abuse ain’t it. Evil for evil never wins. To ever tell my son “you are just a kid, you know nothing”. Always hated that! I knew I didn’t know as much, but doesn’t mean I knew nothing.
Already raised mine, but essentially made sure they were all treated equally and NOT favored/compared to each other. Talking bad about the My Mom Isn’t In A Better Place Shes In A Jar At Home Cute Pot Shirt and by the same token and other parent that’s not in the house. It ruined the potential relationship i could’ve had with my dad. He’s not alive anymore. I learned things that changed the way i looked at everything my whole life. Having kids when you didn’t want them in the first place. I’m not making that mistake. Growing up to “I wish I never had kids!” Or “You ruined my life” takes a toll on a kid. overshare about super inappropriate topics (like complaining about lack of sex between them, confessing to cheating etc.) I will never tell them they should lose weight, but if needed I will help them by supporting and encourage them. Im not planning to to have children but something I do with my youngest cousin is I just believe them. I was never trusted with my feelings, situations that happens or even with my dreams so I just stopped talking about nearly anything. I always make sure that them know I would believe, trust and listen to them no matter what I didn’t beat my children, or ever say “because I said so”. There was always a reason, explanation, etc. Understanding why something is wrong helps immensely in my opinion. My parents made me feel guilty for being bullied as a kid. They gave me the usual “advice” not to listen, to ignore the bullies, and to be the “bigger person” and I know that they probably didn’t believe what I told them happened daily. Frustrated by my crying and coming home with bruises and all that, sometimes they scolded me publicly and even hit me once or twice.
