The personal compliments are huge red flags, you typically don’t tell your employees how easy they are to talk to you, ESPECIALLY when those employees are teenagers. Spending that much time with you is a gigantic red flag. If he was mentoring you, then a few 30 minute meetings a week should be more than enough, even that seems to be too much. Also, what specifically have you done for him to have so much interest in you? Did you come in and have some great ideas for improving the My favorite baseball player calls me opa star T-Shirt What’s more,I will buy this business? Have you excelled at every task he’s given you and wildly exceeded expectations? If not this Incredibly weird and a huge red flag. The stuff about your mom is also a huge red flag. Saying your mom doesn’t see your potential is one thing, and may or may not be a red flag depending on the context, but it most likely is. The bad influence thing though, that’s one of the creepiest things a 45 year old man could say to a 17 year old girl, it’s especially creepy coming from your boss. This is a gigantic, blaring red siren. Trying to get you to drop out of college is also a huge red flag. It sounds like he doesn’t have your interest in mind at all. Is this some startup that’s at the forefront of technology? Are you doing something like artificial intelligence or something of the sort? Are you a prodigy who is so skilled in something already that you don’t need college and go straight to high earnings even if you weren’t at your current company? If not then the smart thing to do would be to go to college and finish.

And with all those red flags, I’d be incredibly cautious. The fact your mind already went there and you’re here posting about it… please listen to your gut and instincts. It’s inappropriate. You’re only 17, you’re really smart to know that this is potentially, or already inappropriate and uncomfortable. Like others have said, document it and get out of there if you can. Extremely unprofessional. Yes, you are being groomed. A CEO doesn’t have 30 minutes a day and a weekly 2+ hour meeting to devote to one employee. Do managers (middle and senior) spend time mentoring and helping employees they see potential in? Yes. They do not spend 4+ hours a week with them and definitely do not ask about their love life.
