In fact I often see it as having benefits. With train wi-fi (albeit not amazing) you can get uninterrupted work done. Mostly though it is time to myself and a podcast without young kids, or other home demands taking precedence. A lot of the impact also comes from how your journey is made up. If you’re using 2-4 different modes of transport….car to station, train to tube, tube then bus….it can all be a bit exhausting. I walk 3 mins to station, train direct in to London, cycle 15 mins to work.

Wised up and got the tube which took about 35-40 from memory. Fusilier was a great boozer, cheap Guinness and unbelievable Indian food I work in central London. There was a guy commuting from Winchester every day. He was always the first one in the office. My dad had friends that commuted to london from the West Midlands (granted Stafford to Euston is 1h10) but the longest was a guy who commuted from Lille, France to london 3 days a week! That surely wins (both distance and stupidity) It was taking me 90 minutes to two hours when I was staying in Weybridge but moved to North London so it now takes roughly 45 minutes
