Way too many own guns that don’t follow these basic rules, and the fact that a lot of cops don’t either should terrify people to no end. Also being aware of what is behind your target that could be collateral damage. But obviously cops don’t give a shit about that either I’ve handled an actual gun maybe a dozen times in my entire life and these three things are consistently what I heard every single time. I’ve always heard it as “don’t point the gun at anything you aren’t willing to kill” – it’s almost the same as yours, but is slightly scarier to my mind. And isn’t 90% of that training just that they should fear for their lives constantly because everyone is always trying to kill them? Damn.
