It was such a scramble for me to figure out what to do with a paycheck. Still have money anxiety. Having to justify every purchase even a bag of chips is not healthy. I’m simply not having kids because I’m not fit to be a parent. As “successful” as my own parents are, they weren’t fit to raise me either. Control. Another thing is denying their mental issues, and this is a problem I saw across all of the generations in my family, young and old alike, there is probably no one who was treated right with their mental problems and illnesses, and I won’t push it through with medicaments, I’ll try to adjust surroundings first, and only when that doesn’t help would I resort to drugs. Too lenient. Gave me too much of what I want. Cared too much about how felt instead of how strong and compitent and willful I was.

I had a helicopter parent where I didn’t have much of a voice in the Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month MS Not Recommend T-Shirt But I will love this family. So I try to let my kids make age appropriate decisions. And I try to make sure they know their needs are important and their opinions matter. My father used to come home drunk, beat his wife and shout as loud as he could “if I knew this is what kids were like, I wouldn’t have bothered!” When I talk I hear his voice, when I look in the mirror, I see his face. I’m not passing that on to anybody. No kids, thanks though Let’s see I won’t sexually molest them or SA, and never have. Throw things and break things because of rage, burn my spouses items in a pyre in the desert, beat them, make them feel like they are lesser because of who they are as a human being, listen to them when they have things to tell me, enjoy their presence in my life and not make them feel like the biggest burden and mistake of my life, never kick them when they are down or expect them to do things I wouldn’t do.

As a young kid I’ve had a severe alergy to dust mites, which are found in normal dust. Father just didn’t care, he had his books, fishing, hunting, garage stuff – the garage was right under my room, where he often painted metal parts using air compressors, so with my breathing problems I also inhaled the paint quite often, and that would be during the night because that’s when he did that, for some reason. I remember being absolutely terrified of mosquitos, which are abundand where I’ve lived, and I didn’t want to open the windows for air during summers. If someone opened them, my room would be full of mosquitos, and I would stay the night awake trying to swat them, and I was around 4-7 then. Opening the windows is all mother did in that period to “help” my dust issue. After years of this, they decided to bring me to a doctor who ordered regular, sometimes daily injection therapy and I finally got the inhaler way later, when the allergy lessened (and to think, medical care was free). They helped me only because my coughing and audible breathing annoyed them.

Eventually when I got to teens and started thinking for myself, I’ve distanced myself emotionally from them and they are still surprised I wouldn’t hug or call them.I won’t make such mistakes that’s for sure. Its just cruel. small children do not want or need to be thinking that life is some sort of competition or that theyre not good enough because someone else is doing stuff better My parents raised me with no awareness that science exists and they can look up science to tell what’s goin on. Even things like simple diarrhoea could be avoided by understanding the baby’s body. I don’t blame them they had no one to teach them. Glad paediatricians today help parents out and there’s wealth of information on the internet that we’re able to raise babies better by making informed decisions. My dad verbally abused me and then gave me the silent treatment for two weeks when I told him I wanted to study languages instead of sciences, saying that I’d end up as a poor Spanish teacher. We’re on good terms now but it’s a pain I will never really get over because I know that he’ll never truly approve of me. Ofc I want my kids to be comfortable but it’s a myth that only STEM courses lead to successful careers and there’s NO POINT in forcing yourself into a career you don’t want and ending up miserable. We don’t “own” kids, they’re people in their own right and, unless they’re completely confused and want help deciding, parents shouldn’t have a place in such decisions.
