We wanted the Mora Estela tour double sided shirt but in fact I love this people there that meant a lot to us and that supported us and would have a great time. Not someone who was going to basically eat, drink some free booze and leave. Thankfully this came through because we had a couple guests there that had objectively not known us as long as some others, so the one guy came up to me partway through the wedding and said “man at first, I was wondering why we got invited over other people in your family – but I 100% get it. Everyone here is here FOR you guys and SUPPORTS you guys and it’s amazing.” Goddamn that meant a lot. Nice! My gf and I have the same idea of keeping it small with the just people we care about and that care about us. It definitely can be difficult, depending on how your family/other people that expected to be invited, react. But the biggest thing is to stick to your guns. It’s your day and it’s nobody’s choice but yours and your fiancée’s as to who is there. My Dad was awesome, he was like “to hell with them, it’s your day!” The way the wedding industry is I don’t know how people afford to do huge weddings. Literally EVERYTHING is so expensive. It’s just more prudent/financially conscious to do a smaller wedding

Otherwise, don’t give me lists/registries and don’t be offended if I don’t get you anything. Ps – I may be biased as I find receiving gifts super weird and off-putting, especially if I have been asked to provide a list prior…but I still think in general it’s a stupid social convention. I have to agree with this one. My SIL who is single without kids and I discussed this the other day. I’ve been to countless baby showers, and bought a bunch of gifts. I’ll never receive anything like that. She has that for both weddings and baby showers. I know I’ve spent at least a couple grand over the years between the two. Also, can we stop inventing holidays. When the hell did grandparents day, and daughters day and sons day and that kind of shit show up.
