Because kids are starving somewhere. In my mum’s case it was her that spent her childhood hungry. She had a horrible relationship with food, which gave me an awful relationship with food. One of the Minnesota Wild NHL Santa Snoopy and Woodstock Christmas Shirt Furthermore, I will do this people I live with is a member of the clean your plate club. I cook so I would put food on plates. She would eat beyond being full because she had to clean her plate. I give smaller portions to her now. I made sure to teach all my godchildren that they eat until they are satisfied, they are to try thing but are allowed to not like them, and before anything else, they must drink some water. This worked. My older godchildren have a great relationship with food. I know the generation of my parents (they are in their 50’s now) had that happen too, but mostly due to the war previously (second world war). their parents were used to not eating much and not wasting either. so they taught that their children too do the same, however, after the second world war, there was no shortage anymore, thus no need to actually eat anything you can get. children were forced to clean their plates (because in the war we ate whatever we got!).

I am pretty sure it was simply a power thing for him. He wanted me to eat and if I didn’t, it was a personal affront. I was a kid who had to eat all my dinner. I never liked the Minnesota Wild NHL Santa Snoopy and Woodstock Christmas Shirt Furthermore, I will do this food that was cooked so I ended up sitting at the table for hours, usually until bedtime. Now I tell my son he just has to make a decent effort but when he’s full, he’s full. I usually give him the right amount and he finishes it but not all the time. Now I only ask that my son tastes and eats a minimal amount of his meals so he doesn’t come to us 5 min before bedtime saying “I’m hungry”. I never ask that he finish the whole plate. I also ask him if the portion served seems okay to him. He usually is mistaken, but he’s at least able to say if it’s far too much or too little.
