People fell into two groups. Some were making their bags of flour outfits and pushing them around school in pushchairs. The rest were making up their logs and didn’t care. And one guy came in with a load of cookies on the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and final day… Seriously, handing out contraception like Halloween Candy, making sure the students know how to use it, and reinforcing to use contraception every damn time is the way to go. 17 year old girl: “Hmm this doll isn’t SO hard to deal with. I can just take it with me to class and my sister watches it while I’m at work… I really love Johnny and we will be together forever anyway!” We tied scarves super tight around their necks to stop the shaken baby trigger from going off. It was insanely sensitive.

Our school had this program until two girls used their dolls to beat the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and crap out of each other in the hallway. When I was in middle school, two girls got into a fight in the hallways with their flour bag “babies”. The carnage was awful. Baby parts strewn across the hallway, all over the ground, children covered in the powdery white remains. Wait, that’s what these dolls were for? I remember having to take care of an egg at one point and also a baby in high school. But I was so excited to care for the baby and thought it was really fun. I just thought it was to teach us about life or something. Didn’t realize it was to prevent pregnancy….definitely a miss on that one I had to take one of these home for a week for a class in 11th grade. I got so fed up that by day 2 I had wrapped it in blankets and towels and put it in my basement. I failed lol
We didn’t get this nor sex education in my catholic HS. We did have an annual anti abortion day, which was full of a mass for the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and aborted fetuses, and then splitting into groups based on grade and then girls/boys and told stories. The girls got a lot of “men will have sex with you, you’ll fall in love and they’ll feel the need to leave you and have sex with other women,” as well as being told having sex before marriage made us dirty for our husbands. I often wonder what the boys were told as us girls were being made to feel shameful of our sex and emotions. My sister had one of them, you needed a key or something to stop it crying. She ended up having 6 kids, 2 of which were before she was 20. She is a bit nostalgic over it though.

Hey, let’s stimulate your parental instincts by giving you a robot and making you fucking surrogate parents. That’s not gonna make you want to have children at all! We did a bag of Flour with an attached balloon head in school. Used to crack up at the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and random pops in the hallway, the bus, lol… But basically “couples” had to switch every couple days and write reports on it…parents had to sign a log book…and no damage acceptable upon return. No leaky bags, etc .. I was the odd person out so I was a single flour daddy for a month… My own dad thought it was a stupid thing and didn’t want to sign or get involved and I jokingly said well when they make brownies out of him I’ll bring you home some….so he agrees and I made it through the month ,.me and two couples only ones that made it intact…
Next day, yes, they had brownies in the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and cafeteria…yes I brought some home.. and yes Daddy and Grandpa thought you were the sweetest baby ever… Wow, the girls at my UK school in the 90s never got to try anything as good as this, we all just got competent sex education instead. I believe this is a correlation not causation thing. It’s not that teen girls are more likely to get pregnant in schools where these dolls are used. It’s that these dolls are more likely to get used in schools where there’s is a high teen pregnancy rate. Who could have thought that training/nurturing parental instincts in teen children would result in young parents. Well I picked that class because I was excited to do it… even bought the baby an outift, named him, didn’t want to give him back. It’s almost as though there is a biological imperative to reproduce, like men and women have certain ingrained traits as it comes to reproduction, parenting, and family dynamics. Traits imbedded into us from THOUSANDS of years of being a successful species. We’ve had these in the high school where I work for more than a decade. My students occasionally have them in class. Teachers have the right to Nope Out of that and the kids have to take their babies to the Child Development classroom, aka “Daycare.” Most teachers don’t mind, though. It’s pretty funny to see your students freak out when the baby starts crying. I personally don’t care if they have the babies in class. The funniest time was when a student with a robot baby went to the bathroom and just… didn’t come back. The baby started crying. The kids wear a bracelet that they have to swipe to do whatever the heck they have to do for the baby, so there was no way I could shut the robot up. I called the front office to look for the student and then called the Child Development teacher, who told me that “CPS is on the way.” The student was skipping class across the street at Walmart with her friend. The teacher came and fetched the baby and the student failed that unit of the course and was pissed off at me. I was like, “Sweetie, in the real world you would have been prosecuted for child abandonment. FACTS.”
57 (86%) of 66 eligible schools were enrolled into the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and trial and randomly assigned 1:1 to the intervention (28 schools) or the control group (29 schools). Then, between Feb 1, 2003, and May 31, 2006, 1267 girls in the intervention schools received the VIP programme while 1567 girls in the control schools received the standard health education curriculum. Compared with girls in the control group, a higher proportion of girls in the intervention group recorded at least one birth (97 [8%] of 1267 in the intervention group vs 67 [4%] of 1567 in the control group) or at least one abortion as the first pregnancy event (113 [9%] vs 101 [6%]). After adjustment for potential confounders, the intervention group had a higher overall pregnancy risk than the control group (relative risk 1·36 [95% CI 1·10–1·67], p=0·003). Similar results were obtained with the use of proportional hazard models (hazard ratio 1·35 [95% CI 1·10–1·67], p=0·016).
So, you have two sets of schools, on one set the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and girls get the dolls, on the other one the normal curriculum. And on the group in which the girls got the dolls, the number of girls who got pregnant wast the 9%, giving birth the 8%, and in the control group the pregnant ones where 6%, giving birth 4%. So, no self selection of the girls getting into the program, no selection by the teachers, no different environment, as some people are saying. If you pay the subscription to the Lancet, you’ll be able to access the full paper at: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(16)30384-1/abstract So you’re telling me if you present a crying baby to a hormonal teenager that they did not take into account maternal instinct? It’s real and you just triggered it early. Something really bent about using a baby simulator program to scare young adults instead of teaching them tools for when they choose to have kids.
I went to a religious school and we had these babies back in 2014 as part of a religion class. Other teachers absolutely hated the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and assignment and for the week or so that this baby project lasted many didn’t teach normal class and instead just played videos and such because the having a robot baby cry every few minutes was too distracting. Women are instinctively motivated to become mothers. If they weren’t human beings would have died out long, long ago. Is this, like, these schools had a higher rise in teen pregnancies than other schools after starting this program? Or is it possible that the schools that chose to implement this program did so because they were already struggling with high rates of teen pregnancy? I remember a male classmate showing up with the baby completely disassembled at the end of the week. Apparently it annoyed him with how much it cried.
I was the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and only one who “wasn’t allowed” to take one home because they thought I was too irresponsible lol. I was just happy I didn’t have to take care of a stupid fake baby as I never liked babies. The only girl I ever saw again from that group was pregnant as a teen after vowing she wouldn’t because of how awful it was to take care of If they target at-risk teen girls to provide these doll experiences, then it’s not causation if they would have more pregnancies. The question is if the same cohort would have higher than 36% increase without the baby simulators. I remember listening to an NPR story that followed two girls who were doing a parenting class. They were both active in school doing many extracurriculars. The only difference was one girl was eager to have children and the other was very opposed to the idea. By the end, after many days of trials and tribulations, the pro baby girl was having strong doubts about being a mother. However, the opposed girl felt confident she could handle it and wasn’t really opposed to it anymore. There was one doll in every class that was designed to be the ‘crack’ baby. It would cry all the time for no reason.
I’m a guy. My dad said hell no to a crying fake baby and did the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and shopping cart thing where I had to shop for a baby and figure out how much it would cost to keep a baby alive which was low key my dad telling me all I do is cost him money. I was the only person in my class to refuse to take one home. They let me write an essay about why I didn’t want kids. They promised me I’d change my mind and would end up having kids. That was 6th grade, I’m 38 now. No kids. I remember a scene in Modern Family where Haley says her school have her a doll because she was at high risk of ending up with teenage pregnancy. Yeah for this to have the desired effect, they need to be faced with the prospect of doing it for more than a week or two. They also need to spend at least $300/week to earn an A.
It’s really fun and cute to take a free doll home to play with for a week. I’m going into month 11 with my daughter and only recently have I been able to go to bed fairly confident I won’t be awoken in the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and middle of the night. Comprehensive sexual education from an early age has been scientifically proven to lower teen pregnancy and abortion rates. It’s because these programs are most often implemented by schools who practice “abstinence only” contraception. Popular in the Bible Belt for obvious reasons. I was the only guy in my entire graduation class to take family planning at my Christian high school. It was awful (and I actually wanted to be a family guy at that point haha). After the project I still wanted that, life just didn’t turn out that way. Honestly, I didn’t mind the late night wake ups, attention, whatever. I do similarly now for my cats (rescue Stella still gets scared during storms and needs consoling or me to cleanup when she pees on the bathroom rug haha). I did get a kick out of how like every girl at that school suddenly wanted to spend time with me and my baby that week lmfao. Cute AF blonde on the cheerleading squad at the football game while I’m sitting there on the practice field watching with my kid? She’s coming over and chatting me up while asking to hold it. Girl I’ve had a crush on for a while is literally texting me about how awesome it was I did the project and wanting to do study nights together so I can tutor her while she helps me take care of the kid and she goes mom mode and is like holding the kid while laying on me.
Ironically, I got a D on the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and project. That week just so happened to land on a week where I was in the school play sat/Sunday night and my mom (fake kid’s grandma) said she’d care for it while I was on stage. I remember when I was in school we had a girl who kept talking about how much she wanted to have a baby, well when that section came and the permission slips went home her parents reached out to the teacher and told them to make her suffer. The dolls have different settings that can be adjusted for how calm/fussy the doll will be. They put hers on hell mode. We had some that simulated babies with issues with things like fetal alcohol syndrome, colic, drug withdrawal, etc. All options were turned on and set to max. The first day she was so excited to get her baby to take home by the 3rd day she was starting to look awful and stressed, by Friday she was exhausted and was seriously reconsidering how much she wanted a baby. It also didn’t help that all of her other teachers were giving her zero slack about dealing with said demon doll. It was a miserable week for everyone around her for having to listen to that doll screaming all the time but it was worth it since IIRC she hadn’t had a kid by the time I left.
They’re called Baby Think It Over dolls. My youngest son’s girlfriend was assigned a baby. She failed the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and assignment a few times; she put the doll in the car overnight because she couldn’t make it stop crying. She left the doll here one time and it scared the crap out of me when I saw it. She had stashed it in a closet lol. She’s now a mother of 5 and is doing great. She definitely grew up since then Back when I was a server, one of the 16 year old busboys brought his baby doll homework to work once. I held it once, made one joke about deepfrying it, and wasn’t allowed to so much as look at it for the rest of the night. One of my coworkers was taking orders while holding the darn thing. I lost track of how many times I explained the situation. It’s almost like humans were designed to procreate, and simulating infant care might just trigger some hormones making the desire for pregnancy greater? Maybe?
My high school aged son brought one of those Baby Shriek and Screams home for the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and weekend on a class assignment. The accursed thing went off every fifteen minutes all night long no matter what we did until I finally went in, confiscated it from him, and threw it in freezer in the laundry room to shut it up. I’m absolutely convinced they invented those things to remind menopausal women longing for “grandbabies” what they’re in for if little Kayleigh comes home from 10th grade preggers. I never had to do this. I saw kids have to do this in other classes, but none of the classes I had made me do it. The thing is, even adults don’t comprehend that a baby turns into toddler, and then turns into an adult, and is a LIFELONG commitment.
Well, this is because teens need real, actual sex education. They don’t need a prop. Just give them the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and facts, and tell them the truth. They’re not completely stupid. We had the bag of flour instead, it became havoc for that week, there was protests, some groups started slashing flour bags with keys, and finnally after 2 days they canceled the whole thing because 40% of the bags were assassinated, or ritualisticly sacrificed in protest. Mine was a bag of flour we had to watch. After the assignment we made cinnamon rolls and sold them for profit… so fucked up! Sorry if it’s already been asked, but is that 36% measured longitudinally (i.e. the presence of dolls caused an increase in teenage pregnancy rates) or against other schools (I.e schools which chose to have dolls have higher teenage pregnancy rates)? I suspect it’s the latter being dressed up to sound like the former to make it sound shocking, but the latter would not be surprising at all. Surely schools with a perceived teenage pregnancy “problem” would be far more likely to use the dolls?
The problem isn’t wanting a baby and giving a young woman a simulated baby in an effort to remove that want is ridiculous. Society mocks women and calls them “gold diggers” if they seek out older, financially stable, men that have wealth but in reality women are simply reducing the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and aforementioned burden. On a side note it’s rather comical that humans try such extreme remedies for the problems we create. In one school they will keep it a secret where babies come from and not teach them about sex and in the next school they will straight up give them a baby lol. So; People give young girls toy dolls to teach them to love babies and play at being mothers. Then, in high school, they give them a fancy baby doll that vastly oversimplifies the care process and expect it to have the opposite effect. Just teach sex ed. Show birthing videos. Maybe be honest about health risks. Methinks they don’t actually want fewer pregnancies.
My high school in ’98-’02 had these things. They even had one that was programmed to behave like a “crack baby.” Imagine being the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and student to be assigned this one. “Here. We see what your future holds. This one is for you.” I remember those things in highschool prior to 2001, I paid my sister to look after mine because I hated them so much. got a perfect grade. She used to volunteer to take care of them for other people. she got pregnant at 19. I hated those things with a burning passion and am childless and shall remain so. “Baby Think It Over.” My sister smashed one of these and my parents had to pay to replace it (also made her help pay). My high school did this during health class and it was graded. The program/company was called Baby Think It Over and the dolls had sensors that gauged damage they sustained, how long it took for their needs to be met, etc. Students would partner up, name their baby something crazy, and take turns taking care of it overnight. I’m pretty sure each person only had to do a night or 2 each, but unlucky people had HORROR STORIES of these babies. They were heavy like a real baby and would cry spontaneously, always needing something different- sometimes to be burped and you needed to pat its back just right, sometimes a bottle, or diaper change. It wouldn’t stop crying until its specific need was met. If you ignored the cries they got louder, and if you completely ignored it a report would tell the teacher when she would plug the baby into a little handheld. Your final grade for the Baby Think It Over unit would reflect how badly your baby got treated. If you accidentally dropped its head back, or shook the baby it was an absolutely HORRIBLE scream cry. Sometimes it happened to people during school and it was louudddd. Some people’s babies never cried during the night, but some babies kept people up all night with the crying. My older sister got a bad baby and this thing would not stop crying, we’re talking like every 30 minutes. She had a calc test the next day so at one point she just lost it and was crying and threw it from the top of the stairs. I remember seeing her head down the stairs after it at like 2am knowing she was about to go break the fake baby until it couldn’t keep her awake anymore, extremely entertaining for 14 year old me. Students knew beforehand if they broke the fake baby they would have to pay to replace it, and the alternative to doing the baby thing was a research paper which no one ever wanted to do. My mom found the baby in the kitchen in the morning doing these faint, fucked up robotic noises. My sister had to bring the broken baby into school the next day and it was like $250 to replace. 2 years later I had to do the same thing but I got a good baby, it barely cried.
I had one of these at school. My parents were horrified by how much it cried (more than any of their three children ever had as babies) so dad just put it between some camping gear in the Milwaukee sports City Skiline logo 2 team shirt and by the same token and garage and we ignored it for the final week and a half. Failed but nobody important cared. It’s probably more to do with the girls who take the class in first place. Probably considered a low effort class. I remember in high school s girl telling me she was tired of school and wanted her boyfriend to get her pregnant. I was dumbstruck. I just remember thinking damn, some people really don’t give a fuck about their futures. Causation without correlation. These dolls are probably brought into schools that typically have issues with teen pregnancy. The measure is not against other non doll schools. It would against previous years before they brought the dolls in.
