I don’t think it’ll hit a lot of people until they’re older, too late & possibly don’t see friends as much for whatever reasons life brings along… Me and my Mighty Banyans basketball retro shirt in other words I will buy this SO are above 40. We are perfectly fine without kids. Sometimes I do ask him if he wants to try and he says nah it’s cool. I need to stop asking him because it always gives me panic attacks when I remember why I don’t want any children. I have friends in their 50s with no children of their own but she has taken a favorite nephew on several European vacations. No regrets. She was able to retire a few months ago and is thoroughly enjoying it. She was an only child and he has 4 siblings. Another couple of friends have 1 son. They married immediately after college graduation and agreed to no children. 12 years later she had changed her mind. He would have been happy childless but when forced to make a decision, he yielded to her need and has been a great parent, all in.

Another friend has 1 son he’s estranged from since it was an unplanned pregnancy, he was 19 and in the Mighty Banyans basketball retro shirt in other words I will buy this Army and his gf apparently was resistant to him being involved (I don’t know the other side and the kid is 20 now). He’s bitter that he didn’t get a fair shot with his son, but being overseas for years didn’t help. He is adamant that he does not want any more kids. I have 1 child, and she was our choice. She was adopted, and not because there were fertility issues (none to our knowledge, but I was/am on bcp). I was sure I did not want kids until my mid 30s, similar to my friend. However, I felt like it was more important to take care of the kids that needed homes rather than bringing another life onto this planet that already has the most humans ever, no shortage. She is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am biased since we did choose to adopt, adoption was not a “lesser” option. From going through that process I think that truly, anyone who wants to be a parent should want it that badly. If you are vacillating, just do not. Better to regret not having child(ren) than to go into it half-heartedly and rack up all the collateral damage.
