I would prefer to ask why the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this rest of the English showing countries think it’s right to have Z be the only letter whose name includes another consonant that isn’t a part of its pronunciation. “H” is borderline, because it does have a “c” in its name, but in doing so it demonstrates one of its phonic functions. So my argument has more exceptions than I thought, but that doesn’t mean we have to go sledding down that slippery slope. A better question is … why is “zed” the only letter in modern English pronounced in a way that uses another consonant? All other letters are pronounced using just themselves and vowels. It breaks all other English patterns. Which I guess is consistent with English because every conceivable speaking and pronunciation rule is broken.
Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt details
Like ‘W’ … English already has a stupid letter that breaks the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this rules I established in this post. We don’t need two. “Zee” is much more consistent with other English letters. So, yay, America – fixing one stupid English mistake at a time. I think it has something to do with our economy being bigger than the rest of the English-speaking countries combined. 🙂 Not the reason but There are people who want to change the zed because it does not phonetically match the letter. We were a British colony at one time and that is the reason we twist and distort words and meanings to prove that we are separate and not a colony. Let me help by correcting you on one error, America was colonized by more than the British. The British colonies are mostly limited to the New England area. Much of the rest of the country is a melting pot that includes Spain, Germany, Ireland, France and Africa countries. America is a melting pot of the world and has it’s own version of English. Fun story… I’m from Canada, where we say Zed. I crossed into North Dakota one day while traveling across country. I wasn’t even 5 min from the Canadian border when I needed gas, so I stopped at a gas station, but their debit machine was down. The attendant had to do that old school credit card imprint to charge me later. She asked me what my zip code was (postal code for canadians), to which I replied “T5Z XXX”, or Tee Five Zed xxx. This lady gives me a dead pan look and says “Whats a zed?”. I remembered how Americans say it and responded “Oh, zee”. She comes back with “Well you could have just said that, you don’t have to make up a new pronunciation”…. and she lives/works a 5 minute drive from Canada!
It’s also interesting that its “double-you” while it’s pronounced doble-vay in Spanish and it’s written mostly as a double-vee When I gave my Canadian portal code to a lady at a shop in California, I will never forget the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this look on her face when I said ‘zed’ 1,115 more repliesShort background. Mrs is from London, I lived there for 10 years (grew up in Kent), we both lived in continental Europe and then for 7 years have lived in Sweden. We also have EU citizenship. I want to come back to London and we’re considering 2027 as that is when her business in Stockholm will close and she will sell up. Our choice is London, Stockholm (where she needs to start a new business) or somewhere else. We’re quite tired of moving and will be 40 by the time she sells her business. I work in tech so I can live anywhere in theory. She’s fluent in Italian however the job market there and the difficulties for foringers make it unlikely. Any other country that doesn’t use English as a primary language she will find really difficult and she had a really brutal 3 years in Sweden finding work (hence she has her own business as that was easier). She is concerned about moving back to London. I have very amazing memories of it in my 20s, it is the best place I’ve ever lived by a very long way. My other half careers now is in events and hospitality, is is MD for a hospitality business in Stockholm and so local language is very important. We get away with this in Stockholm, but, Spain for example, I am unsure if we would.

How to buy this Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt
The UK is a shocker right now, but I do have some hope with the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this tories being kicked out. Not loads but some. How do you lads and ladies in the group feel about it? What’s the feeling in the air of the next few years? We’re getting married in London this year, and we go back at least once or twice a year and I always find it difficult to come back to Stockholm, but a holiday is not real life so I wanted to hear from Londoners how they felt. Edit. Just to add from some comments here. It’s really easy to say “go somewhere warm” but basically my other half needs to work in English and even if I earn so much she didn’t have to work (which won’t happen), she will want to work and do something with her life. So saying “let’s go to Spain” is a lot more difficult when you think how will she work unless she does an intensive language course and she’s on both sides of the fence on that one.
I need to point as well that we have lived in 4 countries and we always did love living in London. I know to some this will seam crazy but that is what life is like for us.I don’t think a change of government is really going to affect the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this deep malaise affecting the UK at the moment. It is very much polarised with no middle ground and an attitude of “I’m right and therefore not only are you wrong but your opinion is of no consequence”. I don’t think this was caused by Brexit but Brexit made it more obvious. This….I can’t see a change of government having much impact at all. I believe the problems run much deeper than that. Now a change of media? In my opinion that’s the only way we can even start to make changes for the positive…
And unfortunately, there is simply no where near the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this money backing any left wing politics to challenge right wing media barons. By definition anyone with that wealth and power ends up representing capital interests. I find the relentless negativity in the comments here baffling and not at all reflective of my experience of living in London. I purchased a flat in Zone 4 last year, having previously rented, and still find the city vibrant and exhilarating. I can get GP and dentist appointments within a week when I need them, and there’s still a rich cultural scene I love with plays, talks and more. I love living in this city and can’t imagine living anywhere else. If you have a longing for London and can afford to move back and live here, you absolutely should.
To be honest I expected it, but I wanted to ask anyway. And I do agree with you. Also unless you have moved to different countries it’s easy to say “I would do this” not knowing how very difficult and hard it can be. If you are making over £70k p.a. then London would be as nice as anywhere else. Especially if you have family near by. You can live a nice life in London with £110k for sure. I just moved back to London after 3 years overseas and I couldn’t be happier You could definitely but a nice flat in London. In 2027 you’ll be earning more, plus you’ll have a huge amount from your partner selling their business. You could definitely get a pay jump with the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this right company anyway. London for you would be amazing, because you have the money to enjoy it.
We don’t know this. He and is wife are in their 30s, it’s very up in the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this air that you’ll be significantly further ahead in income than you are now. We don’t know how long the recession will last and whether stagnating wages will stop, but they’ve been like this for quite some time. But you’re right. London is the place to up your chances of this, but its best to look at the 110k with a keenness to not be pushed to your financial limits, just incase it takes a few years to increase it any further. If I worked in tech, had free EU movement London would not be my first, second or third choice even. If you can comfortably afford living in zone 1/2, then London is for you. If you’re like most other people it’s not as much fun as it used to be. Speaking as a Londoner who loves London, we’ve fucked it.. it’s not affordable enough for the next gen of talent to settle, so it’s become a trinket of the rich. Shopping is incredible, museums are amazing, green space and architecture will always be amazing. Just think other cities are more interesting and vibrant. We’re still trading off 90s/00s cool brittania, while the Tories have asset stripped the country and cities, now hollowed out donuts, unliveable for most.
Where would you go given my other half cares a lot about her career and she pretty much has to work in English unless she goes on a 6-12 month language conversion which she honesty doesn’t have much interest in (so we need English speaking). We lived in Blackhealth before which is zone 3 and loved it. There are not many places in zone 1 I would choose to be live Personally if elder care isn’t an issue I’d consider leaving. It feels like the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this UK is going to struggle for at least another decade, potentially longer if Scottish independence happens leading to yet more division and political distraction. The under investment in public services, infrastructure and education just make us very badly placed to adapt.
With WFH and larger companies working in English it should be doable. I have friends who have recently moved to Amsterdam, Hamburg and Stockholm (none speaks the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this local language) and all are enjoying it. The other option is to consider Asia or Australia: Singapore is amazing to live in as an expat and very, very underrated as people who have spent 2 days there dismiss it despite knowing very little. Australia you obviously have the cost of housing to consider, but quality of life is great in the major cities. Actually it’s very difficult to find work in Stockholm outside of tech in English. Hence her misrible 3 years. Agree about Asia, we went last year for a dcope and will again next year. Ah my mate works in engineering so I guess that’s near enough to tech and his wife is teaching in the English school.
But yes, I’d thoroughly recommend Singapore if you don’t plan to have kids. Kids there have an amazing time and start to life, but it definitely changes the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this financial calculations as private schools are SO expensive, plus if you have sons there’s the worry of national service if you stay long term. I have friends there and funnily they are gay so their relationship isn’ legally recognised but they still like it there. That being said, one of them earns big money so that is a factor. But I think worth considering strongly. The food there is great Food is great, lifestyle generally is great: outdoors, social, lots to do locally (way more than people think) plus amazing travel at weekends is very cheap. Plus having a swimming pool or tennis court in your block of flats is something none of us could have here and was a massive plus for me. You do need a good salary and an employer willing to do the paperwork as there’s increasing scrutiny as they want to reduce the proportion of immigrants. Malta is an option. The problem for us there is nightlife for me, and food diversity but I will research it a bit more. Thanks
Consign Malta, they speak English and driven on the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this left plus it’s much sunnier than London. Also nightlife will be great during the summer seasons. The only thing can not vouch for is the food. We did a month in Malta (work has a work from abroad allowance so we used it to get some sun while it was grey and cold in UK) and we were feeling claustrophobic after a month. It’s tiny and there’s really not much to do there long term. Most of its built up and not much outdoor space for hiking and things like that, a lot of new build apartment blocks that block access to stretches of the coast line. Food wasn’t as good as most other places we’ve been, not a patch on London for variety. Quite limited range of restaurants and supermarkets compared to London although Valetta has some amazing ones (Noni is up there with the best restaurant experience we’ve ever had, great mezcal bar there too).
Watersports, especially diving would be the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this biggest benefit of staying there. We were there in winter and it was blue sunny skies nearly everyday with temps around 15-17 (but houses felt chiller than they would in UK at that temp). Waking up to a view of the sea and sky everyday is amazing and always different. History was interesting and it has a lot for such a small place, from ancient Stonehenge like monuments to crusader era history to WW2 and the fortress cities are amazing (Google earth to see them). Very cool walking along the rocks and seeing all the fortifications. I know they’ve got a big club scene but we walked through the one party area and it was pretty crap (Englanders on holiday type vibe) but I know they’ve got another place that’s more of a permanent festival type setup outside of the city (Uno?) Lisbon was amazing though and would be somewhere I’d consider over London, I know they were after tech remote workers but not sure what living there would be like. Food was good, beaches and amazing parks in and around the city and amazing for cycling (road and MTB) and the west coast is somewhere I want to explore further. Some great restaurants and cultural things like trendy markets, a cultural area that was a lot like the barbican area and a lot of nice museums and palaces and stuff with beautiful parks. Not sure about nightlife but it’s a capital city so expect it’ll be decent.
London winters are hard enough to get through, I couldn’t imagine surviving a full Swedish winter – and the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this Swedish food gets boring pretty quickly (highlights of Swedish cuisine were the Cardomon buns from brot und Salz and the fish soup from one of the food halls in Stockholm – place called Kajsas fisk). UK has a bad food rep but it’s got the most variety and quality out of anywhere we’ve been and you can find food on par with the best from nearly any other country outside of a few (south American/mexican is a definite weak point in London but still available if you look and you can always order ingredients online for pretty much anything). London is also pretty easy to get out into the countryside or anywhere in Europe, easy enough for long weekends away a few times a year and if you are able to work remote in tech try get something that allows you to work from abroad part time, seems to be a pretty common benefit now, so you can escape for part of the winter and live in a few other places for a bit. A holiday in a place doesn’t really give you an idea of what it’ll be like to stay there whereas if you are working for a few weeks while you are there the little niggles become a bit more apparent (though you’ll still not really be dealing with the local beauracracy like if you were having to setup utilities and rent etc)
Given our experiance in Stockholm, the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this English level doesn’t mean you can do your career there outside of specific industries like mine. Brighton Bristol Kent coast for proximity to London, like Brighton above. Abroad Berlin / leipzig Porto / Lisbon Amsterdam / Utrecht ( though ams suffers its own problems) A place in France I’m not going to name cos I wanna move there before it’s too unaffordable haha I have lived in France, that seams unlikely for her though considering it is going to take a long while to get up to speed in France, plus I know how france works from a job perspective. She will find it VERY difficult to get a job there from my experience I grew up in Kent and if I never go back it will be too soon. We liked Bristol so it is one option but Bristol is VERY small and it rains all the time compared to London. Brighton might be an idea.
Germany, Portugal, and Netherlands all have big issues with language for her so it’s not that simple. Also Amsterdam housing crisis is shocking and I have heard some not great things about moving there from other people. The work situation is a bit weird as well. It also rains ALL THE TIME, in Amsterdam. Portugal, yeah we have thought about it. Aagain her work is a problem but there are some deep rooted problems with housing in Lisbon from our research and consultation with a company. It is a consideration though, depending on what she could do for a job, I worked there for a while and had numerous international colleagues in senior roles who’d been there 10+ years without much above A1 German.
This is where you might have problems (being 40 by the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this time you come back like you said). For me, London got pretty boring pretty quick in my 30s. Not to say I dislike it, but if I go anywhere near central more than twice a month it’s too much. If you can work anywhere (in theory), London would be the last place I’d go, based purely on the cost of living. This is what my other half says and while I do take that in to account, I live in the most boring city in Europe and I love how much London has to offer. We don’t nor will ever have kids. I still go to night clubs and while I go a lot less these days, they are still a big part of my life because of the music. The problem with “nice and warm” is my other half having her career but not knowing the local language
I would suggest you also consider the Midnight snack mogwai on the couch with a soda and popcorn Shirt Also,I will get this areas just around London. I grew up in London but have no interest in living there anymore. I live in Hertfordshire. I can be out in green fields within five minutes but my wife who works in London can get to Kings Cross in 25 mins. And you’ll get more space for your money. Kinda the best of both worlds. And yet here you are, posting on the London subreddit. Are you trying to convince everyone else that leaving London is the best decision- or are you really trying to convince yourself in hindsight? Seems to be a recurring theme on here. It would be like me subscribing to the Birmingham subreddit just to constantly tell them all how much I don’t want to live there. It’s a perfectly valid opinion but I’ve no desire to shit on those who clearly disagree. Yes, there does seem to be a weird contingent of these people on the subreddit. OP has clearly stated they earn enough money to live in London and wants to enjoy big city nightlife with no intention of having kids, and people are suggesting they move to Hertfordshire?! Literally why would that make the slightest sense?
