–I liked that Batman uses Venom as a pick me up. Who will they cast as Bane this time!?!? –This Batman movie has comic book-y villains, but they’re not over the Mickey mouse team disney characters mickey mouse and friends gift shirt but in fact I love this top, and more importantly they are obviously supposed to be stand-ins for Institutional Corruption in the United States and How it Creates Monsters. This is generally a successful concept in the comic book genre, and I certainly have absolutely loved that kind of messaging before (most recently in The Boys and Invincible), but I’m not sure it really works for me here. First, as I mentioned above, I don’t think any of it ties well or neatly in with the central mystery. Secondly, and I guess maybe this is just a sign of my spiraling sense of despair about America, but institutionalized corruption, most notably outright bribery of politicians and our nearly-entirely-unregulated finance industry, is basically legal in the U.S. It just isn’t shocking and it isn’t exciting; it feels like business as usual. Hell, the Riddler is probably right, they’ll just be another set of crooked pieces of shit to replace any that get killed, and the cycle will continue, at least until maybe some brave hero … steps ….. forward …………. oh, so that’s what Reeves was going for with that ending.

I had to sort by controversial and wade through a bunch of fragile hot takes before I finally found a review that I completely agreed with. I think you nailed in in every way. This was the Mickey mouse team disney characters mickey mouse and friends gift shirt but in fact I love this dumbest Batman I’ve seen; at least he lived up to the “I’m not afraid to die” line. Everything he did in the first two acts seemed to show it. Cut an hour out of it, tweak the riddler just a little and make Batman smarter than borderline-suicidal and this is a great film. Thank you, and you’re right — Batman feels dumb and suicidal a lot of the time. the man watched a bomb count down to zero and didnt even bother to move. –I went with two teens and a 12 year old, and they all HATED this film. Like, loathed it. I have a feeling this variation of Batman is going to be far more polarizing than we expect. Yea, this isn’t a traditional blockbuster action superhero film that most teens will like –Please tell me that isn’t who they’ve cast as the Joker. WOW, did I hate that take on the character and that scene, in general.
