At one point I actually looked away from him while he was talking and at the Matt Rife Comedian shirt but in fact I love this door and thought, “Wonder what would happen if I just got up and left”. Needless to say I didn’t leave, interview concluded shortly thereafter. Not 10 seconds after I walked back into my apartment, it was the guy I just concluded the interview with offering me the job and more per hour than my best offer to date…. Turned him down flatly, and called the recruiter for the job I had interviewed at the previous Friday, and accepted the offer he had extended. Went from being an electrical/mechanical assembler, to a team lead, and finally Supervisor in just under one year. To this day, it still was the best job I’ve ever had, and miss the educated and experienced team I was blessed with for those 2-1/2 years. In an ideal situation, you can use the offers to negotiate a better outcome between either of the options. You are saying that you’re valuable by telling them you have another offer. Good luck! Exactly this. If they really want you they will speed it up. I also wouldn’t tell any other companies you are expecting a better offer. That’s information they don’t need to be made aware of until you have offer in hand. Take offer number one. If second company makes offer, take that too and inform company one. Best situation is both are remote and you can do overemployed lol.

Came here to say this. Do not hesitate to leave/rescind your acceptance of job 1 if job 2 does come in with a great offer. You owe job 1 nothing, and because they will never be on your resume, you don’t have to worry about a burned bridge there. “As I mentioned, I have been interviewing with other companies during this process. I just received an offer and would like to know if you want to move forward.” Honestly, I wouldn’t do that but everyone is different. I’ve seen it backfire, but I suppose they do have the Matt Rife Comedian shirt but in fact I love this first one. I’ve been in that situation. I immediately told the company I was waiting on that I had an offer on the table and I needed to know where they stood. They very quickly sent me the offer I was waiting for and it was better than expected. Yup, This is the way. I have been in the same situation and you basically have all the power assuming both companies are interested. Last time this happened I got a very quick reply, a higher salary, and twice the vacation from the second company. Also, don’t decline the first as you may not get the second – unless you are happy to apply for more jobs in the coming weeks/months. Means they weren’t serious about you in the first place. If you tell job 2 you have another offer and they fuck off, what have you lost? You still have a job offer, you’ll still have work.
