Reeves will almost have to make the next movie R-rated to “top” this. Dark knight was much darker than this I agree on paper, but the execution of this was obviously grittier, more brooding and suffocating. The execution was kinda clumsy though. It just had darker lighting than TDK, but TDK had far more grotesque moments Awesome movie, but the Nolan films reign supreme. Really was hoping that Phoenix’s Joker was going to tie in somehow rather than someone new. All throughout the movie I felt the tone between the two Gothams really were aligned. If they did decide to have Phoenix’s joker, this overarching story arc would have been perfect. The joker was drove crazy by the City while Batman gains hope. But overall this was a brilliant movie and Jeffery Wright… ? Peter Sarsgaard and Maggie Gyllenhaal are married and both played district attorneys in Batman movies… pretty funny. Did the Riddler have a bonding fetish ?

I liked it. I thought it was pretty good. Some things I liked: I loved what they did with Gotham. Gotham didn’t just feel like a Chicago or New York stand In, it really felt like it’s own character. It was gloomy, gritty, and a place that you could tell was dangerous and a terrible place to live . I liked the Marvel spiderman homecoming iron man the dream team shirt In addition,I will do this neo noir feel of the film with batman being a detective and I thought Paul Dano was really creepy as the riddler. It was cool they focused on the mob angle, and Colin Farrell was fun to see as the penguin. Things I didn’t like: I thought the movie began to drag toward the end. Once riddler gets arrested , it began to drag after the interrogation scene. I would have liked to see more Alfred, he didn’t really do much and was way underutilized.The whole joker and riddler at Arkham could have been cut and used as a post credit sequence. It seemed like one that was just shoehorned in. I also didn’t reslly care for riddler blowing up the trucks to destroy the sea walls to flood Gotham. It kind of came out of nowhere and their was no foreshadowing or mentioning of the sea walls earlier in the movie. They could have had a brief mention of it on the news in the background or something. I was also a little put off by Batman kind of dropping the ball a lot and Bruce Wayne being more of a Howard Hughes recluse than the playboy billionaire. I do give that a pass since I’m sure that will be more prominent in the sequel films. Overall, I liked it and would give it a solid 8.5/ 10.
