Aside from preferring to spend my time with my wife and children, I have only ever stayed in one hotel where the level of comfort matched that of my own home. The only upside of needing to be away is the joy of the feeling when flying back into my home airport and knowing that it is just 40 minutes drive until I am back in my happy place. When I travel for personal reasons, I will stay in hotels at a price point which no employer or client would pay, it’s back to that thing about comfort.
