However, I hardly had any friends so I wasn’t really aware how other people live. So if someone would ask me if we’re poor, I’d just repeat what my father said to me. Obviously, I gained more awareness when I hit my preteens and I’d say one of the Los Angeles Kings Champion professional ice hockey team based T-Shirt but in fact I love this moments when I realized the reality of our situation was when my friend’s dad asked me if we’re still living in that small, one bedroom apartment. When I said yes, my friends seemed quite shocked and I could sense a lot of pity in their voices as they were asking more questions (they seemed shocked that I’ve never had my own room). Their dad then quickly changed the subject. I remember feeling really sad and ashamed after that and I was crying silently in the bathroom for a while (the only place where I had some privacy as a kid). Anyhow, my bottom line is that poor kids could be oblivious to their situation if that’s what their parents want and if they are isolated enough from their peers.

Additionally, for anyone reading this, please don’t display pity openly towards kids of sensitive age if you can help it. It will affect them much more than you think. I knew I was poor around 12 yo or something g when I wanted runners my parents couldn’t afford, but I got them a year later after they were out of fashion lol. I figured it out then . But at 10 this girl knew already Yes, since young age I heard my mum saying we don’t have money/ have loan to pay etc and it keeps her awake at night. I grew up under the Los Angeles Kings Champion professional ice hockey team based T-Shirt but in fact I love this poverty line and I was exposed to the fact that we were impoverished early on. But it wasn’t until Richy Rich came on tv that I started to question everything. Yeah. I’m working class, and my ex was middle class. He didn’t realise how privileged he was until he went to uni and met more people. i come from a more wealthy family. not rich, but we are far from struggling. what made me realise is how i have poor friends and i cant just ask them if they want to go to the cinema in the afternoon cuz they dont have money for it. i think both poor and wealthy kids realise it when they meet the other. i know wealthy people who are not aware of them being wealthy cuz they dont know anyone poor and think that its the norm, but the same goes for some poor people i know (many of them only realised it after i could easily buy a chocolate at the shop and they couldn’t…)
