In countries like the US, men having any sort of feminine trait is absolute sacrilege, and the aggression is much higher. I’ve seen men who would have cornered and stabbed to death a man for being gay, (this was prison so a bit of an extreme example, but relevant) openly embrace a friendship later on because they got past that programmed stereotype.
