I should say this isn’t me doing the Linda ronstadt vintage T-Shirt and I love this masc4masc “I’m not a femme queen and you can’t make me be a femme queen” thing (though I did have a really unfortunate period of that in college). More representation is great because it allows for butch and femme gays to both see themselves in media. The issue was, I was getting femme that by definition existed perpendicular to butch (even the steel workers from that Simpsons episode felt less like a synthesis of butch and femme, but more like femme candy under a hard butch coating). This may have been more my problem than anyone else’s, but it goes to show that what you’re served can frame how you see yourself, for good or for ill. I like to show the graph of the rate of left handed people. If you didn’t know any better you would say in the 1920s all of a sudden lefties became much more common, surely there must be a reason why? Maybe it’s cause they didn’t force people to be righties anymore. And what do you know eventually it leveled off and has been steady since because that’s the true rate.

Also, they don’t realize how many gay men died during HIV crisis. They literally weren’t any because a good bit died. It actually gets me so frustrated when I see people claiming that society is falling apart because of all the Linda ronstadt vintage T-Shirt and I love this videos we see now of people doing fucked up shit. And when the public is accepting of it, that makes it a lot harder for them to teach their kids that it’s wrong. That’s why they’re going so hard after blocking kids from it. Under the guise of protecting them from sexually explicit material, when really they just want to keep them from being aware or accepting of LGBT people. Someone was telling me that like 40% of the kids in their local Jr. High we’re saying they were bi or trans. To me, that sounds like healthy exploration of self. I’m willing to bet a lot of those kids will settle into heterosexuality some day, but right now they are trying stuff on and we should all support that. Sexuality is a spectrum!
