Instead of trying to fix the actual problem. Edit: answered my own question. The only thing that scares my white ass more then being homeless, is being in prison. If you think they (the rather conservative government of Tennessee) give a crap about that, you are sorely mistaken. It is all about getting the for-profit prisons filled up. What happens if I choose not to participate in society anymore? I throw in my job, sell my house, donate all the money to charity and walk out into the street? Where am I “allowed” to sleep? Where can I set up a camp and live off the land? Eventually a care worker will be along to try and find me some housing etc, but what if I refuse? Fine me for sleeping in a public place – i dont have any money. It seems there is no option, other than conform to societal norms. The above situation would ultimately land me in jail for unpaid fines.

Reminds me of a short story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. where they “solved” the housing shortage by attaching balloons to people without homes so that they could float around and not touch anyone’s property. How can a govt (looking at you especially, congress) create every condition for its most vulnerable populations to be homeless, offer them no assistance, and then give them a felony charge for it? Wtf is wrong with this country?! And I promise you, the same ones making these laws are probably the same ones to go to church every Sunday learning to “love thy neighbor”.
