Listen to the families of the actual hostages. They want a ceasefire. Their loved ones are being bombed by Israel and Netanyahu is doing nothing to keep them safe or get them back Because those who are doing so generally feel that the supporters of the posters don’t actually give a shit about the hostages and are only using the image of these victims in order to justify further destruction of Gaza. The Israeli government has gone on record saying that the hostages are not a priority. I’m not quite sure if families of the victims as a whole would want the posters torn down, but I do think many would object to the idea of their loved ones’ image being weaponized as justification for a scorched earth approach in Gaza that may inadvertently endanger said loved one. I don’t think I would feel right tearing one of them down personally, but I know if I were in the same situation I wouldn’t want my own face being used as such. If the Israeli government was actually showing any interest in prioritizing hostage lives over destruction I would feel a lot differently about the posters.

The truth is, this is a propaganda campaign meant to draw public opinion toward support of Israel, and away from the footage of their obvious genocide of Palestine, which has been ongoing since Israel’s founding. During the founding of Israel, Bibi’s father openly said their plan and campaign was based on the US government’s genocide of native Americans. And it follows that pattern: using violent expulsion, restriction of resources, pogroms, and subsidized settlers all employed in a gradual destruction of the civilization, with the explicit goal of taking land.
