You left out the corporate lobbying, conservatives making laws to make it much harder if not impossible to unionize in some states, and false demonization of all unions based on one or two instances of corruption and organized crime relation. The other thing is the perception of unions over time. Back in the day, unions were really needed to push worker rights because they were a lot worse than they are today. Not saying they are perfect the way they are now, but unions helped get them here. Nowadays, a lot of people think that certain unions are way too powerful and hinder actual progress such as police unions. You hear stories all the time about how the union protects police to an insane degree even when the defendant should be held to a higher standard. Then you have other lazy unions that siphon money from their members and ultimately keep the older generation of union members fat and happy, and there’s no growth for the younger generation. Again, not saying all unions are like this, but there are enough examples where media can shift the narrative.
