Hospitality had me saying all sorts of pleasantries I did not mean in the Larry Meme legend shirt in other words I will buy this slightest, I feel the same might’ve been for Lee here Have you every tried to say “you’re welcome” and “no problem” at the same time to a guest and instead said “you’re problem” or “no welcome”? I once accidentally told an elderly regular customer to fuck off directly to their face, during what was basically small talk and pleasantries, right in front of the store manager. This customer was a pretentious old woman who was notorious among all of us in the shop for her inane complaints/moans, and one colleague had mentioned to us how she tolerated that bullshit by internally repeating the phrase “fuck off” whenever the woman spoke. Pretty soon that mindworm was firmly implanted in my head, and it worked for a while until the day I was 7 hours into a shift that started at 6am after finishing at 10 the night before. She was talking about how our pre-prepared dauphinoise potatoes were no longer the premium product she had become accustomed to, and what I meant to say in response was “oh, really?”, but what my brain decided to do was say “oh fuck off…” in an exasperated voice.

A written warning in a job you don’t care that much about is not something to be bothered about in the Larry Meme legend shirt in other words I will buy this grand scheme of things. I’ve never had one myself, but I’ve definitely come close to it. Got a full on bollocking from my supervisor who was also my girlfriend at the time. She had to go into work mode for that. I ended a job interview once about to say “cheers”, decided to switch to the more formal “thanks”, shook their hand and said “chanks”. I enjoyed this story, I can imagine it well and love that you continued watching the convo on cctv. This made me smile, thanks for sharing! Former pub manager, used to see this all the time, regulars really hate it when they don’t know all the staff. Once had one accuse me of only employing men, I’m a woman, I think he was trying to imply something. I pointed out to him he’s been working away all the time I’d been in charge and could only make it in on a Saturday, all our female staff were like Lee loved the job but worked elsewhere so worked one week night shift. The blokes weren’t quite full time but were students so were happy to pick up all the weekend shifts.
