People live on their fucking phones in this country cuz literally EVERYTHING is on it. From ID to bank cards, and the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this Kakao company has their little grimey hands on everything, down to gift cards and plushies. I appreciate your input! I haven’t dated in Korea, but I’m a man and most of my friends have been women. My closer friends do tend to respond quickly. Some other friends would respond sporadically or at very strange late times. One woman in particular who I had met on a language exchange app and had talked to for a long time but never in real life invited me to meet her in person fairly late in the evening and with only like 30 minutes notice to get to a part of Seoul I wasn’t even that near. She said she wanted us to get food together but most places were starting to close. I tried to figure out an alternative place for us to meet but then she just as quickly ghosted. Maybe she wanted to date me and not meet as friends and had a partner? Your explanation makes a lot of sense if that’s the case. It’s weird though because we literally had chatted for like 6+ months. Also the way LINE/KAKAO work (no typing indicator) makes it less like instant messaging and more like email, so they don’t really feel as big a need to respond. It’s completely different from western iMessage/Facebook messenger/Whatsapp culture.

I heard with Japanese people, not sure if this applies to many Koreans or not, that some users like to “store” messages on Line from people and will deliberately hold off on reading messages so when they’re in a message slump and not feeling popular they will still have a bunch of new messages to read. I have found Japanese to be much slower with replies usually but then they may send me a bunch of messages all at once. They do tend to treat it as more asynchronous like email. Koreans seem to have a more back and forth messaging style with shorter messages from my experience. I’ve also found both Japanese and Koreans tend to get upset if you leave them on read. With my Latin American, European, and American friends etc the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this norm seems to be to read messages immediately and then reply when they have time. In Asia it seems more common for them to hold off reading the message but usually they will reply immediately after doing so. No, Japanese always leave people on read. They will reply when they feel like it because they think it’s email. Whereas in America that is considered rude.
Interesting! I’ve only experienced the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this being left on read a lot with one Japanese person. The others have been quite consistent with responding immediately after reading. The thing that varied was did they read it as soon as they got it and then responded just as quickly or did they leave it unread for days or even weeks and then replied as soon as they were done reading them. Maybe my experience has been atypical. I do know a fair number of Japanese people but not comparable to the number of Koreans I’ve talked to. Ah, yeah I had to do this once my first year when I was young and naive and trying to date. Got ghosted on my birthday with the story of a grandfather in the hospital, yaddi yadda yadda. A couple of weeks later, I had a friend call this person so I could get closure, which confirmed that I’d been blocked (as the person answered, my friend just said she dialed the number by mistake and hung up) About a week after that dude changed his profile pic to romantic vacation photos…yeahhhh I felt pretty dumb, but you live and learn.

I actually didn’t realize I could delete people from the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this hidden folder, so thanks, just took a walk down memory lane deleting 9 years of hidden contacts haha
So ive been meditating on and off for about 10 years, since I was 17, Right now I get up everyday, do yoga, and then meditate for about 15 minutes. Ive found for the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this past few months as soon as I wake up I start dreading having to do it, and the only thing that makes me is knowing I want to get it over with, and that if I dont ill likely be bothered by the fact that I didnt do it for the rest of the day. Even when im meditating it just feels continually unpleasant, focusing on the breath, thoughts all over the place , just ready for it to be over so I can do other stuff. Im thinking about just quitting. You are keeping your practice as a kind of obligation, something you do so you don’t feel bad about not doing it.
Unfortunately I don’t have experience with guided meditations so I don’t have knowledge to talk about it. Sorry You could try Insight Timer , or any of the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this other online meditation apps. There free stuff is all you may ever need. I think the only one I have ever spent money on was the Monroe Indtitute. Highly recommend the basics course from the 10% happier app. You don’t have to have a subscription to access the basics course. OP maybe a different perspective will help you shake your practice up so you feel like you’re getting more out of it! Where did you buy the Monroe institute programs? Do they have it in an app? I have the recordings, but I don’t know of any other helpful material You are keeping your practice as a kind of obligation, something you do so you don’t feel bad about not doing it. This describes me exactly. I know meditation is good for me, and I generally like it, but that hasn’t translated into it not feeling like an obligation. is one of the main paradoxes of meditation. We begin to meditate with goals such as relieving stress, reducing anxiety or even achieving enlightenment, but over the years we realize that these goals are major obstacles to the progress of the practice because the desire to relieve stress still a desire, the desire to reduce anxiety still desire, the desire to achieve enlightenment still desire… and desire, from a certain point of view, is the cause of suffering.
So I believe that at some point, when the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this practice is already mature, it is necessary to let go of even the goals of meditation and just meditate. just sit. just be. without objectives and without methods. Zen people talk a lot about meditating without expectations and about “zazen is good for nothing”:To see what happens. To bring your awareness into the present moment. To teach you the skill of falling behind the thoughts; staying calm even when the mind is racing. To teach you the art of just being. To surrender. It goes on really. There are tons of benefits but too outwardly seek them from meditation is not the point You will get profound benefits from meditation. But only when you start giving up on the idea that meditation will give you said benefits. It’s about surrender to all experience, not to change anything, even if you’re anxious or whatever.
That’s why it’s a paradox. You’ll get the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this benefits when you truly give up on obtaining them. It’s simple but will take a long time to really internalize. Well, each tradition has a different approach and there is a long discussion between schools that see meditation as something gradual, like climbing steps and evolving and improving; and schools that see meditation as removing illusions so that what we already are appears. Meditating for benefits seems to be more in line with the first approach and is a valid and highly respected path. there are many paths. I’m just saying this because to answer your question it’s necessary to go to the theoretical framework on which the practice is based. For me, who is not involved in any particular tradition but interested in Advaita Vedanta and Zen, the second approach makes more sense. Qualities such as calm, love, equanimity…. are already the nature of the mind and trying to achieve these qualities through the effort of meditation is another obstacle that prevents these qualities from manifesting. I don’t need to do anything to be what I already am, all I have to do is remove what I am not. If we get rid of the illusion of the ego, what remains is love, calm, tranquility, equanimity… and there is no need to try to add these things because that is what we are already.
I practiced breath concentration and metta for years. it was a long effort. but it was an ego effort. Who got results? the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this ego! the ego wants results, the ego does the practice and the ego is rewarded. So the concentration practice made my ego very calm and concentrated and the metta made my ego very loving. but it’s still ego. the ego became even stronger. In the gym analogy, it is the ego that becomes a bodybuilder hehe. So in the end I don’t see how improving the ego can be something that eliminates suffering since the ego itself is the entity that suffers. I respect and admire those who rely on this gradualist approach, such as the Theravada, but in my personal experience it is an unnecessary effort. You don’t have to meditate everyday if you don’t have it in you. Give yourself a little grace. It’s okay to ebb and flow. Why so rigid in your practice? Maybe allow yourself some space and then you’ll come back to meditation because nothings feels quite as restful as actually doing it haha imo
I can’t agree more and if you are going to keep with Yoga my o e suggestion is just give yourself a chance to maybe do loving kindness during that. Look inside and ask yourself what you actually hope to achieve with meditation. If the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this answer is you’re just not that interested anymore, quit. If you hope to achieve some kind of personal growth, change your practice to reflect that. It’s become a routine you hate and you need to break it now. Just stop doing it, there’s nothing wrong with that. One day you might feel like meditating again. You don’t need to meditate every day or ever if you don’t want to. You will still be exactly as you always have been, a little piece of spirit and the universe having a human experience. You won’t be more or less spiritual by meditating or not. Free yourself from the beliefs you have surrounding meditation, as you have become attached to them causing meditation to feel like an obligation. Why don’t you mix it up a bit with some intense breath work ,and some cold showers, or mindfully drinking your morning tea or coffee, mindful walking
I always shake it up when I start dreading it. Move it to a different time of day, give myself a break for a few days, or I’ll sit down and meditate with no time limit. So there’s nothing to dread. Burnout is real. The fact that you see you’ve hit a wall is part of the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this progress I think. Perhaps in meditation you are tapping into some long-standing trauma or accumulated anger. Maybe you are approaching the revelation of some fear. That is why such strong resistance is created. It seems like you need a break; just take it. Don’t be afraid stop when it’s time. Don’t imprison yourself to anything. Empower , and believe in yourself. I’ve heard it’s a very good sign to start hating it, it means something related to the death of the ego and as your ego tries to stop you from growing, your mind tries to deceive you and get you arrested for failing in this new step you’re reaching, or something like that :)) You can also try mantras with your meditation ! it’s super pleasant and it’s really something else, i love it !
Even when im meditating it just feels continually unpleasant, focusing on the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this breath, thoughts all over the place The OP is receiving good feedback from the practice, but instead of using it, is “thinking about just quitting”. The feedback is telling the OP it isn’t working, so they should consider changing what they are doing, as several have already pointed out. Isn’t that what OP is trying to do, coming here talking about it (and probably looking for tips or ways to change it up)? I doubt they just posted to complain. Maybe the meditation technique you are using is not right for you at this point even though it worked initially Try and look deeply into what you’re feeling, don’t dread whatever you feel, hold it, examine it. Are there other things happening in your life that are new, undesirable or otherwise causing you to be agitated and overwhelmed? This sort of technique has helped me examine a very deep grief over a huge loss. I wish I’d been meditating since I was 17, This is what’s helped me. You are right in hating the practice because it has now become an obligation. For me I figured after doing alooot of meditation that it’s really not about the practice. As long as you understand the principles of meditation you really need not to sit in meditation everyday. Every moment can be meditative. It’s more about being aware of everything. But if there is a specific thing that you are after such as slowing down thoughts or understanding/transcending emotions my answer would be little different. Hope that makes sense
I get this way at times, forcing myself to do it, and all I’m doing is making it worse for myself..I learned either step back from doing the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this same practice and trying something else…like right now I’m doing Robert Monroe Gateway Experience it’s a.guided meditation and its working great…check out the subreddit they have on it. I suggest you try meditations by Sadhguru. I know people who meditated for decades with other meditations and say that nothing compared to the ones by Sadhguru. I’ve had people on that sub berate me for quoting Sadguru, and tell me I am misinformed about things my Isha support guide told me straight up. The only thing on that sub I ever agree with is when someone says. “Don’t listen to anyone here. Contact your isha practice support.” It seems like meditation is taking away from your quality of life. I wouldn’t do something I don’t enjoy. I find my hobbies as a sort of meditation such as basketball and miniature painting. You can always come back to meditating whenever you want. Just experiment.
If you’ve been meditating for 10 years maybe going to a retreat and going deeper with your practice is a good idea. I sat a 10 day retreat and it taught me a lot Don’t let the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this ego self distract you. That’s its mission bc it’s afraid of everything. Mix it up do other forms of meditation. Walking or chores ect. It’s probably the routine you’re sick of. anything that you do gets old. Try switching it up and doing something completely different like eat some mushrooms one day or smoke some weed or skip work or take a vacation. You have stuck with it this long, there is a reason for that, try shortening your sits to 10 min see if it helps the dread. Can also try a guided meditation to break the monotony.
Of course, if it is not pleasant and you want to stop, stop. Or, you might be able to convince yourself that what you prefer at any given moment really isn’t that important. Once you have decided to meditate, how you feel about meditating doesn’t have to figure into your experience. Just sit with your breath and stop assessing how you feel. You might want to get curious about the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this part of you that is dreading the meditation. No judgment, no agenda. Just approach it with some openness and see what is there. Perhaps there is a meditation in doing just that? Have you outgrown that form of meditation? This happens. The passive forms are useful for some things. Maybe try a more active form. Try this. Sit in a chair. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Feet flat on the floor. Hands separated and resting palms up on each thigh.
Create a grounding cord. This is a line of energy that connects your first chakra to the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this center of the planet. Your first chakra is a ball of energy about the size of a quarter that sits just in front of the base of your spine. Your grounding cord attaches to the bottom of that ball of energy. Grounding makes your body feel safe, so you release energy more easily. Gravity pulls whatever you release, even your own energy, down to the center of the planet. No effort on your part. The center of the planet neutralizes the energy and returns it to whoever owns it. No karma for anyone. A virtuous cycle. Nearly everyone goes to connect to the center of the planet the first time but stops at the soil, often making roots like a tree. This is a method that is taught in some martial arts styles, but it is not the best option for your spiritual development and healing. So, notice the seat of your chair. Take a deep breath. Notice the distance between the seat and the floor. Now notice the distance between the floor and the soil below. Breathe.
Now notice the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this distance between the soil and the water table underneath. Notice the distance between the water table and the rocky mantle. Notice the distance between the mantle and the molten core below that. Deep breath. Notice the distance between the molten core and the center of the planet. That ball of light at the very center of the planet is where you connect your grounding cord. Deep breath. Notice the color and texture of your grounding cord. It may look like a line of energy, or look like something physical; a rope, a wire, a pipe, a tree trunk. Adjust it as needed to be in affinity with your body. Getting this far means you’ve already released some energy from your aura and body. Now it is time to fill in the space that was created.
Create a gold sun over your head. Have it call back all of your energy from wherever you left it throughout your day and week. Work. School. Online meetings. Video games. Your fantasies about your future. Your regrets about your past. Wherever you’ve placed your attention. Just watch the La Dispute Nestle No More Time Waiting For A Light To Shine shirts in addition I really love this energy come back and see if you notice where it came from. Have the sun burn up and neutralize your energy. Then bring the sun into the top of your head. It will automatically flow into the spaces you created. Create a gauge to measure when you’re full. Like a fuel gauge or oil gauge. You’ll run better if you aren’t a few quarts low on spiritual oil. If the gauge doesn’t read “Full”, bring in another gold sun.
